To be fair, a constant complaint was that a lot of the high-scoring pages were only there because they were popular “legacy” articles, and not because they were particularly good - and honestly I’d be inclined to agree with that. You can appreciate them for what they are - a product of their time, but objectively speaking their high rating is not indicative of their quality.
Granted, I don’t particularly like nu-SCP either - it started getting boring for me around the time Series 4 started where everyone was trying to out-do each other in how needlessly confusing and meta they could make their article, or just straight up turning it into a video game or action movie. I absolutely despise the Ouroboros Cycle retcon for basically turning the O5 council into a pantheon of shitty video game bosses, and also because it gives the appearance of effort and polish, which makes people immediately judge it for how it presents itself rather than the content of the writing.
On a more positive note, the exploring series guy did another
SCP vid highlighting a perfect example of the kinds of articles I actually enjoy reading, where the focus is really more on Foundationverse geopolitics and the anomaly is more of a trigger to get the plot going.
