Well even if you convince people it’s bad, you also have to convince people that it’s bad enough to get the government to ban it, something that, at least in the US, is blatantly unconstitutional. Besides, it wouldn’t do any good anyway, all the porn servers would simply move offshore and the NSA isn’t competent enough to catch every single person going to pornhub for a wank. This is a good example of an interesting topic to discuss, but everybody doing it is just too pretentious, pompous, and autistic to have an honest or remotely smart conversation.
I think Torba has very good points and he's right about many things, but he's just too much of a moron to realise that bringing morality into the debate (well, the "no debate") won't help. Bring actual data, actual numbers, actual evidence that can't be refuted by a simple "lol, porn is ok, you prude!" rather than sperg about how "porn is bad!". At the end, that's the whole discussion:
"porn is good!"
"no, porn is bad!"
"no, good!"
"no, bad!"
It'd go as well as banning alcohol did, and the war on drugs, and as bad as they claim banning guns would go.Well even if you convince people it’s bad, you also have to convince people that it’s bad enough to get the government to ban it, something that, at least in the US, is blatantly unconstitutional. Besides, it wouldn’t do any good anyway, all the porn servers would simply move offshore and the NSA isn’t competent enough to catch every single person going to pornhub for a wank.
Tl:dr even with empirical evidence that porn is bad, banning it would just be giving more power to the government for little tangible benefit
(It’s far from the only thing this is true of. If I had a magic button that could make it where automatic weapons had never been invented I’d probably press it, but I don’t support government efforts to ban them)
EDIT: The /b/ porn ban was just jannies fucking around. Can the abominable boomer be stopped?Still going at it.

Guide on how to deal with the issue of your toddler child accidentally seeing porn online:
1. Don't let your toddler son use a computer
Problem solved. I don't really see why porn's become such a big thing very recently. The industry doesn't do enough to keep people under 18 discovering it, sure, but if there's a market for it, then it will exist. Shady and immoral practices in businesses aren't exactly a new thing.

Apparently Torba thinks that /b/ is the only board on 4chan.

I understand 4chan banning porn on /b/ because there's other places on the site specifically for porn. They also don't advertise themselves as a "free speech website".The main reason for removing porn from /b/ I'm guessing had to do with the fact that /b/ has been mostly porn dumps for at least 4 years now, when there are already more than enough boards to do that. Only thing other than porn has been teenagers making their big boy and girl posts on the "internet hate machine", which amounts to "Uhhh what color shirt should I buy /b/?" The problem with /b/ is the board has outlasted its usefulness. Back when 4chan was young and only had boards focusing on anime, videogames, and a few niches topics, /b/ was the place to go if you wanted to talk about anything else, or just shitpost. Now they have boards that most common interests, with multiple boards dedicated to just shitposting on top of that. /b/just remains as a placeholder for nostalgia, that people would get mad at if it were deleted.
EDIT: The /b/ porn ban was just jannies fucking around. Can the abominable boomer be stopped?
Theory:
Torba is shifting the overton window and getting his userbase to crusade against porn so he can censor Gab to make it ad-friendly while still being able to claim it's pro free speech.
