I defy anyone to tell me with a straight face that there aren't enough good novels among just Alan Dean Foster and Timothy Zahn's for two or three movie trilogies.

Corrections to at least Act 1 Portion

Movie opens on Exegol with star destroyers rising from the ground (I dont remember this happening) ,
we get cut to Kylo talking with Vader's helmet and then he says that now he knows what he must do (same here),
he enters a castle and finds a chest (I dont remember a castle, just a chest lying in the open)
tells the troops to come after him after he sends them a message that they can go. (false)
Sidious doesn't deny his death yet he says he is still here as proof.
(Kinda true, he literally says:
"The dark side of the force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be...unnatural.")

Sidious tells Kylo he needs to find a dagger of an assasin he hired telling him it's the key of turning Rey to darkness and winning the war forever. (I remember just him saying to turn Rey to the darkside nothing about the dagger)
Before Kylo leaves Sidious tells him to rebuild his helmet to complete his training and become a Sith, he tells him the past is the key to the future. (false)

Poe and Finn arrive and they tell Rey they found out Kylo Ren is searching after a dagger which has the key to win the war,
(False, the information they got from the traitor states that the Last Order will attack in 16h, Palpatine is alive and that they will come from Exegol. Rey remembers Luke trying to find exegol in his notes and that is where it says he was tracking Ochi since he might have info)

we get cut to a beautiful shot of Mustafar, Kylo goes there with his Knights to rebuild his helmet, the alien they meet there in Vader's castle looks like a gorrilla,they rebuild it in a Sith ritual and then leave but Kylo kills the alien before leaving so his grandfather's castle will be left alone.

The Thrawn series could have checked the boxes for their diversity shit too. They could have cast a Black Actor for Admiral Thrawn, and have much of his motivating force being the racial animus and shit he faced. Which would be true to the canon btw. Throw in Mara Jade for Stronk Wamyn and switch out Po for Corran Horn and you would have the makings of a great movie. They didn't need to beat for beat do the books, but simply building a movie around that core framework would have been great. And more importantly it would have given die hard fans what they wanted. Mara Jade is honestly one of the most popular star wars characters out there, and she has never once been shown in film or TV shows.

Actually the Star destroyers thing is accurate given Palpatine raised them from the ground after Kylombine met him

Aside from shameless ratings whoring, I am remindin yall of this and of the reaction me and a whole bunch of other star wars fans had to give context to just why we have so very little fucking chill when shitting on Nu Star Wars

We went in to this wanting...hoping it would work out. We bought in to the hype. We would have fucking loved this shit if just had the decency to be barely fucking adequate...and it couldnt even meet us halfway

I know I have shared this repeatedly already but jesus christ it really does bear repeating just how fucking wrong I was to have any fucking hope

Had to sign-up just to continue following this wonderfully cathartic thread. I'm still in the process of catching up but I feel like sisyphus here, every time I read a page and go to the next one, the last page has grown by 2. Like so many others I have surprised myself that I was actually rooting for this film to fail after being such a fan. The power of Disney

Game of Thrones final season was also this year. That one eviscerated a hundred million fans. The Earl of Skywalker has stiff competition. I'm sure it will rise to the occasion though!
