Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

People not suffering adverse reactions t it.
You can suffer an adverse reaction to water, sunlight, strong emotions, etc., so this idea of perfect safety is a non-starter. And there will always be people who have an adverse reaction to getting a needle stuck in their arm, so unless the vaccine is infused into chewables like Flintstone vitamins, we will have that level of risk, too. But we do know, to a fairly high degree of confidence, that the proposed vaccines do not cause dangerous adverse reactions at a higher rate than placebos, and we also know the adverse reactions they do cause (fatigue, soreness, etc.) are less severe than the adverse reaction to SARS-CoV-2 (weeks of illness, death).

I know there are some people who say it hasn't been tested enough yet, and I am curious what "enough" is. How many people--hundreds of thousands, millions? How long--five years, ten, twenty? Do you wait multiple generations to see if there are epigenetic effects? If you don't follow FDA and ACIP guidance, then what is the endpoint, specifically, at which you will decide a vaccine is safe enough for you?

Though frankly why we need a vaccine for a illness that kills mostly the old and the fatties and has a mortality rate of less than 1% is beyond me.
I don't know, we vaccinate for lots of things with a mortality rate of less than 1%. Society in general does not hold to the idea that a mortality rate of less than 1% makes a disease insignificant, or that people who are elderly should be written off. Most people want their loved ones to live long, healthy lives, and hope that they too may live a long, healthy life.

I hate this crap. Hate it so much.
I don't know if it's just me, but this shit bothers me beyond just the morons who say shit like "Durr hurr it's me!" and "omg #relatable" and shit like that. It's that extra implication of the cover and of online "society" in general that I must relate. That this is normal.
It's not normal. It's not "cute" to be slovenly, and I'm not comfortable in a messy space. I don't see da pandemic as an excuse to get fat or lazy.
I'm not the fussiest housekeeper ever, but the mess depicted in that illo makes me feel both disgusted and anxious.

We've got countless locked-down people who have more leisure time on their hands than most of them know how to fill, and I'm supposed to believe that living in squalor is not only totally to be expected, but a perfectly normal and acceptable response to being stuck at home? GTFO, New Yorker, and everybody squeeing about how "relatable" that image is. I'm not an uncritical admirer of Jordan Peterson, but god damn, these people need to clean their fucking rooms.

My county's sheriff who's refused to enforce lockdowns since May tested positive for the coof after developing (so far) mild flu symptoms. Mostly generic 'thoughts and prayers' posts in response but there's more than a few people all but saying 'this is what you get for not enforcing shutdowns and mask orders'. I wonder how many of them unironically call others bootlickers while practically begging for a government boot on their necks.
COVID for the left ironically enough is what AIDS was in the 80s. People said that AIDS was a punishment for gay sin. Now COVID is a punishment for conservative sin.

The idea that in all likelihood by the end of 2021, every single American will have caught COVID at some point is completely foreign to them. This isn't an STD; it's a fucking flu virus.

My house doesn't ever get that bad and I live in a large household with children that don't always pick up after themselves (partly do to age + distraction). A litter box needs to be cleaned every day (you can get away with every other day if you only have one cat but it still needs to be a daily thing -- cats like their toilets to be relatively not full of shit and piss). Uncleanliness can be a sign of serious depression but I just think these people are lazy

Get a litter robot, it’s the best.

Until they get it, then its "WOE IS ME! ITS ALL YOUR FAULT! IF ONLY YOU HAD LICKED MORE BOOTS THEN WE WOULDN'T HAVE THIS VIRUS!!!".

I'll give you 2022 for 90%+ of the population. Once it hits 40-50% it starts plateauing, because roughly half the available targets are no longer available.
This is where "herd immunity" comes from, the point in which available targets are so rare that the spread exponentially slows.

I know someone that tried the app in Michigan. They uninstalled it after a day because it would drain their phone's battery within a couple hours.
All the more reason for me to not install it. That said, though ...

That's what happens when you leave bluetooth on all day. Did the devs not think of this, or just not care?
Can verify. Phones tend to waste battery power if wifi/bluetooth is activated and there's nothing for the phone to connect to. I'd guess the devs wouldn't care because battery drain is a small sacrifice to use the app that will keep you safe and warn you if someone may have passed you their coof germs.

I also like to bring up how having a 100% remote workforce you lose out a lot on collaboration and socializing.

I personally like not wasting 2+ hours a day going into the office and to be able to catch up on media.
I've seen both sides of this. Being able to shoot the breeze with a sociable co-worker tends to be a plus; more-so if they can give you helpful advice when you have a difficult issue to resolve. At the same time, pointless status meetings and other in-office red tape are more of a productivity drain than anything else.

COVID has turned breathing into a deadly event and all of us into potential serial killers
ICYMI, this was published as an opinion piece. So, take it with a large grain of salt, or simply dismiss it as hype and little more than the latest article that spreads FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt).

The real irony is that if an actually serious viral outbreak occurs in the future, the "experts" have fucked this one up so badly that they're gonna have a hell of a time trying to convince people to go along with their plans again.
Between stuff like this and the fact that leaders who advocate staying home the most are later observed and documented violating their own orders, it's no wonder people are starting to push back more and aren't taking the orders seriously.

I think what gets me most is that normies aren't getting any straight answers from the so-called experts. We're collectively being treated like five year olds and told, sometimes literally, "You're going to do this because I said so," and nothing relevant about COVID and how what's known about it has changed over the past several months. Those who believe that we're being kept ignorant on purpose certainly have reason to believe that now, huh?

More on point with your reply, those officials that have politicized this truly left themselves with low or zero credibility the next time this happens. It's truly an example of the boy who cried wolf.

LA City has just upgraded their lockdown, as they've been threatening to do for several days. The new order says everyone must stay home, and not travel at all, even by walking. There are however 12 pages of exceptions so you can still go to your essential job, buy weed, do your Christmas shopping, get groceries, go to school, or do outdoor fitness.

This is so dumb. I was freaking out for a second but this literally means nothing new, yet again, and only applies to LA city, not LA County.

Edit: Oh hey... They've banned sunbathing at the beach again... Garcetti seems to have a particular vendetta against that.

Ngl kiwis. I'm in a low place.
I was already pretty isolated and depressed before all this, but I at least went out to dinner a couple times a week or to craft stores.

Now I don't even have that. Big things like holidays are cancelled so the literal weeks if prep for Xmas is too. I've cleaned my house out of boredom and there's nothing really left to clean. I can't afford to get stuff for my hobbies like cosplay and even if I did... I'm so beat down I don't even want to anymore.
Like a poster a few posts up said... The only reason I haven't an heroed is bc I couldn't do that to my grandma.

I've looked for low cost/affordable mental health care in my area and either I'm retarded and haven't found anything online, or it's few and far between around here... Plus all the big covid warnings that take up half the page on every website just chizzles a little more if my sanity away.

I don't know what to believe anymore.

I just keep telling myself "don't do that to grandma. Don't make grandma go through that..." Over and over.

Thanks for listening to my ted talk.
Use a script blocker so you can gradually enable scripts. Did one show the wuflu warning? Turn it off. Scriptsafe is a pretty good one. Element blockers might be a good idea, too. Ublock Origin has one built in.

About 2% of your sanity won't be eaten by a certain slutty batgirl now. Not going to fix your other problems, sadly. Would be nice if it could.
When depressed in these certainly uncertain times I've found that reading people's stories of what happened when they overindulged on Fiber One bars to be good for a giggle.
If nothing else it kills a little time while we wait to see where all this nonsense will lead.
Look up Haribo suger free gummy bears. The Amazon reviews for huge drums of lube are also great. The story of Ken Allen has everything you need in a good story. Wacky antics, relateable characters, a crafty hero, and a rival. He does get the girl. Multiple girls. A harem, in fact.

He taught the harem his secrets. Did they pass the knowledge onto their children? Probably.

A little change of pace...believe we all need it.

You might like the Youper therapy chatbot app. https://www.youper.ai/
That, plus exercise, made a major difference in my life a couple years ago, and it's free.

If you're trying to sell the vaccine to me or convince me this whole thing is not a waste of time and founded on a lie you can just stop it.

Dont bother. You cannot say anything to me which will convince me and I have nothing else to say to you beyond, i do not care, I am not interested, I will not change my mind and you are wasting your time.

I really wonder how many people the vaccine will kill. Flu vaccines are nicknamed "death jabs" since they kill thousands a year, usually the same population who would die of the flu anyway.
I just need to say that this does not qualify as a pandemic in the dictionary definition. Deaths are way above normal and touch every place in the planet. At least that USED to be the definition but everything has been changed now to fit the narrative.

What I see is that in Canada anyway, it’s more of a long term care home crisis as that’s where 98% of the deaths are happening. This has nothing to do with Covid IMO. It’s just years and years of budget cuts and neglect coming home to roost.
Maybe initially everyone had reason to be worried, but 9 months in and Jesus Christ I’ve had sinus infections worse than this. It’s a nothing burger but these fuck head politicians are doubling down to cover up their huge overreaction and failures.

Here's an interesting classification of pandemics used under the Bush and Obama administration. COVID-19 is pretty much a high-end category 2 on this scale. Note that the seasonal flu is considered a category 1. Interestingly, said scale is no longer in use by the US government.

These actions, when implemented, can have an overall effect of reducing the number of new cases of the disease; but they can carry potentially adverse consequences in terms of community and social disruption.

Anyone else utterly fucking had it with people trying to persuade them this isn't all lies? My aunt is a fat cunt who is deathly afraid of it and shes even trying to tell me "but but but I saw a thing on Facebook about a yung und helfeeeee nurse who died!!" (Spoiler, the nurse was a fucking beast, she was gigantic) and you try and tell her "mr flid currently does that fucling job, I worked in the NHS till a few months back and what we have seen and out colleagues have seen totally contradicts the news. Hospitals are empty except butter Golems unable to breathe from a minor flu because there is such an obscene amount of fat on their chests. That's about it" and they lose it.

It's like these mental deficient area so desperate to believe this, nothing will convince them they are wrong. Death tolls are a lie and are "died within 28 days of a positive test," but theres no PM to establish the cause of death.

It's a minor viral infection if you're not a fat piece of shit. I'm more convinced they're putting drugs in junk food. That must be how the hysteria is being maintained.

It's a deluge of propaganda and a general attitude of hysteria. How does anyone in North Korea seriously believe that a family of fat ugly manlets are somehow the most brilliant political leaders in human history and gods in mortal flesh when people starve to death in the streets and there's daily rolling blackouts and for some reason they can never leave the country to go laugh at the supposedly inferior countries around them. Exact same shit, different place.

That's a fair point, but people in other Korea are steeped in that bullshit and indoctrination from birth. How we've ended up with such a bunch of rent-a-spastics is a real shocker to me . I knew people were fucking morons, that's not a surprise, but when they're even gobbling down the propaganda when there is no effort at all to hide the lies? I hope these fuckwits are taken down by a dodgy vaccine. Humanity only stands to benefit.

They don't, they are seeing the same surge as the rest of Europe and North America is seeing.

Here's an interesting note from a twitter scientist - a prediction:

View attachment 1726077

Will this be correct, or will the death count around Dec 2 be higher or lower?
There were 2 473 deaths from coronavirus on Dec 2. Looks like the prediction was pretty accurate to me.

How many Discord Academics is a Twitter Scientist worth?
On closer inspection, the account is from an entire institution, not just one guy like the name suggests.

Aren't NoKors smart to the fact that they're part of the biggest kayfabe in history? It's just that penalty for breaking it is bigger than VinnyMac firing their ass to a lesser known promotion. Or is this a fringe view by that guy that appeared on JRE?

So a lockdown but not really a lockdown? This gives me flashbacks from March, when the government said that shutting everything down was not a lockdown but a "community quarantine."
