Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Florida is my real life "I Don't Want to Live on This Planet Anymore" meme comes to life.

Six months ago I cheerily proclaimed to every one I know that don't worry, once Florida has been open for three weeks the rest of the country will simply be FORCED to open up when it is clear that bodies are not filling the streets in the state.

I said this with CONVICTION.
I said this with AUTHORITY.
And I said this with a beautiful glimmer of hope that don't worry the nightmare will end.

LOL

There are people I have spoken to as recently as the last few weeks who when I mentioned Florida to them they responded with CONVICTION and AUTHORITY that Florida is that Republican state where everyone is dying because they aren't locking down and wearing masks. They know this because they stay informed by watching cable news.
Drink a beer or something, holy shit.

14 kids passed out and 11 needed emergency services in one week while being forced to mask when playing sports. State-sanctioned child abuse. 78B46412-7D9D-47B5-B0FB-E7E73A555B52.jpeg

forced to mask when playing sports
How did The Narrative® bullshit many into thinking wearing a muzzle is needed outside? Elevated CO2 and rebreathing exhaling means a "safer" "society"?

I hope the assholes who forced this insanity on us are removed from power someday - if that's even possible anymore.

When I was a kid I really related to Calvin and Hobbes because of how a good third of the strips were just two characters fucking around in the woods unsupervised having conversations about kid stuff and it was exactly the experience I had with friends growing up.
With more of push to get kids into organized activities as soon as they can stand on their own, kids no longer have any chance to be a kid or engage in the spontaneous play many of us experienced and enjoyed growing up. It was fun during the summer to do whatever with the neighbor kids/peers between meals and play every second our parents would let us. I think the lack of that and parents doing more to micromanage their kids' waking moments has done more harm than good with their kids' socio-emotional development and we're seeing the results now with so many kids unable to handle the challenges COVID presents with maintaining social relationships.

No one in my city has been diagnosed with the flu.
I was out somewhere, so I couldn't catch who said it and where, but someone claimed that if and when COVID is deemed under control, flu season is going to strike with a vengeance. I'm pressing X to doubt and dismissing this as yet another attempt to keep everyone in a state of fear, uncertainty, and doubt.

Then I went to another store and no one there gave a fuck I wasn't wearing a mask. I want to say I've been in that very store since masking orders were rolled out, but I can't recall whether that's true. Whatever, Canadian Tire sucks anyways. I guess company policy is to they're try and drive people to Amazon now...
I have no idea if the order has changed in my state, but businesses at some point couldn't deny entrance to someone without a mask unless they first offered reasonable accommodations/alternatives. As examples, a grocery store might offer to have an employee do someone's shopping for them or a tax office might suggest people without a mask submit their tax return information in a secure on-site drop box site, postal mail, or through a secure online portal. Where it's not required, businesses do themselves a disservice when they don't offer accommodations to people that can't wear masks or forget to grab one in an oops moment -- especially if it means their customers go elsewhere and never come back.

They can give my vaccination to someone else. I plan to wait a year.
The doctor that speaks on the local evening news mentioned before the holidays that it would take up to two years to have an idea of what the long-term side effects might be. With that in mind, I'd prefer to wait two years although I'd just as soon go without as long as possible.

I'm at the breaking point. I can't take another ruined summer.
With the restrictions that weren't lifted here today, my paying side hobby remains on hold. The cancellations resulting from this will cost me a decent amount of money that would have came in handy this month. Thanks, Governor Whitmer for literally nothing *sigh* .

Defiance of virus dining bans grows as restaurants flounder
There is a family-owned restaurant in Michigan's upper peninsula that is defying shutdown orders/restrictions and drawing fines for it, but the owner has made it clear that take out business alone is insufficient to make her business profitable enough to give her the money she needs to cover even the most basic of her monthly expenses. Many are in the same boat and defying orders more for the money than to make any sort of political statement.

A WA teacher's union president says reopening schools is an example of "white supremacy," concern over a child's mental health or suicide risk is "white privilege," and push to reopen schools is like rioters pushing to enter the U.S. Capitol.
The head of the Detroit Federation of Teachers has opposed any form of in-person learning from the get-go even though there are parents that want and demand it when it's possible and available. The superintendent even allowed parents to choose whatever option worked best for them as much as possible. Funny how these union folks that insist (re-)opening schools now is "White privilege" are the same ones who normally complain how "students of color" need as much educational opportunity as possible to overcome the disadvantages they face 🤷‍♂️ .

done more harm than good
The "woke" seem to be obsessed with a "safe and secure society". You know what else is "safe and secure"? Prison.

Reasonable safety is one thing, but this universe will always have some degree of danger in it. Trying to prevent literally all of it is impossible - and insane.

This is the first time in a while that I've actually been certifiably MATI. This guy is a retarded fucking cunt.

They said it was like the flu and both lost their sense of taste and smell (which recovered but is still dulled).

same over here (healthy in their 20s tho). wonder if that's a corona thing, general infection side effect or just perception after a certain level of sickness, and how long it's gonna stay.

over here government drew up a support package to tide businesses over (75% of lost profit or something) in november which apparently only a quarter of applied businesses got so far, and now suddenly got stealthily changed that you're only entitled under specific circumstances or any gain is near zero. which is great after 2 months of no business, especially december.
feels like government finally did the math and figured out what they'd had to pay, then it finally dawned on them that this shit isn't sustainable, even less for another 2-3 months of lockdowns. meanwhile dumb "green" politicians double down on "right to home office", as if everyone has a fucking office job you can just relocate. they really should've stayed with being retards whining about nuclear power.

These pre-written things are so bizarre. Everyone knows it's something they're just reading off a document, so they tune out. It's so soulless and dispassionate. No one in this culture just talks.
thats because if you "just talk" you might say something offensive and get fucked from it. you idiots dont remember 2013? that one duck dynasty guy wanted to "just talk" with drew magery about gay marriage and the show never recovered. hell try "just talking" about the holocaust, even "just talkin" about desegregating the armed forces being a bad idea got you canned back in 1949.
Who ever would have guessed that elite rich assholes who go to the same ten schools and almost all live in NY, DC, and LA and never really leave would all think the same thing while simultaneously being totally uninformed? Shocking, I know. Then the rubes who think everyone on CNN is Walter Cronkite because a camera is pointed at them just like it was in 1970 automatically believes them.

It's impossible to convince my grandfather that the NYT is entirely different than it was when he started reading it 60 years ago and hence he shouldn't take their covid hysteria about Florida as Gospel truth. When I told him I got my news about the Capitol Hill bullshit from randos live streaming it rather than some talking head being given a script by Big Brother, he looked at me like I was a sheep. Sad!
the old are just retarded in general. you have to remember how many wars they were convinced to support. the ability to think logically is locked out for 85%-95% of the population.

My biggest problem is the huge amount of auto-immune people who might get fucked by the vaccine. i still haven't heard back but depending on what my company says, i might start the ball rolling on class action lawsuits. you can't mandate a vaccine especially when so many people under your employ have such a huge chance of getting fucked by it. and i have a feeling they're smart enough and desperate enough not to suffer the PR hit that they'll give people exemptions.

If something pressurizes the United States into a full-on Civil War 2: Electric Boogaloo, it'll be the lockdowns first and foremost, as it has the greatest reach in causing damage to the most amount of people.
The tinfoil hat in me thinks they got people to riot in the Capitol over something stupid/disorganized (Qtard bullshit/overturning an election that TPTB rigged/god knows what) just to identify potential flaws in their security and to lessen the shock of the event when it happens from a group of protestors with clear goals.

And it already has pressurized us. Censorship ramped up in 2020 to prevent dreaded "misinformation" (now the keywords are "incitement to violence" and "insurrection") and were it not for the """"""pandemic"""""" I doubt yet another scumbag being put down by the police would've drawn so much attention. Even if the DNC successfully rigged the election (which would've been a lot harder without the mail-in voting) then I doubt the response would've been so drastic. People are scared and rightfully so. They heard Creepy Uncle Joe and Cameltoe Harris voicing support for BLM and Antifa rioters and they heard the promise of a national mask mandate and national lockdowns. People who are backed into a corner do stupid shit, but there's a reason it happens. Ask why they feel backed into a corner.

And I don't think you can give a sane answer to this question, the answer is that politicians are either horribly inept and incapable of doing their jobs or they are outright evil and deliberately fucking us over for personal gain. We're talking so fucking bad a president who mostly sat on his ass and talked shit on Twitter did a better job than they did. They can't turn off the propaganda machine now, the virus must be made out to be the worst thing ever because if it isn't, then they're exposed as either woefully inept or downright evil. And people are getting skeptical of it, like I heard two coworkers earlier talking about how the vaccine is untested and possibly dangerous and that they won't bother getting it for at least a year.

Last Saturday night it was like 45 degrees out and I could see my breath. I like it when it gets a little chilly (also makes working out in the garage easier) but that was a little much, I agree.

Yeah but I got to use the fireplaces - outdoor and indoor - so that was fun.

I remain so amused yet also sad at the rest of the country being tricked into thinking things are terrible here. Y’all...they’re fine. It’s still a pandemic but for a pandemic it’s fine. What more can be expected?

We have no worse outcomes and numbers here than anywhere else. Better by some measures. And we have all these old people and more here now that the snowbirds are here. And even with these extra olds, the trends are no worse than the sheer population numbers indicate.

I feel like I’m talking to potential political refugees but...I swear, come on down. Relocate. It’s better than anywhere else in the US and it will be for a couple years, at the least.

Like literally letting people in, which is what the Capitol police did?

Holy fuck I wish these are fake, how is any doctor allowing this when they've explicitly said pregnant women aren't to be vaccinated? :stress:

I feel sorry for the family because it is a tragedy to lose a child that late in gestation but she kinda did it to herself and now has to live with the fact that her decision to get the covid vax when it wasn't tested on pregnant women might have led to her child dying.

Everything that has gone on this past year just makes me want to move out to the woods and live as far away from other people as possible.

Give women agency, they said! *6 billion infanticides later*

COVID-19 virus is here to stay, says vaccine maker Moderna's CEO

Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel says health officials will have to constantly be on the lookout for new variants of the SARS-CoV-2, while scientists keep coming up with vaccines to fight them.

Constantly on the look out for new variants of the weakest, fakest, gayest disease ever. These fucking demons.

My hospital(along with ACOG) just released a statement like two pages long saying they shouldn’t restrict pregnant women and they should get them.

They listed pros and cons. The one sentence con (next to a paragraph of pros) was theres no safety data or any evidence at all that this is safe for pregnant women and won’t be for months.

But they affirmatively recommend it anyway.

These people aren’t looking out for your long term health, just lower case numbers.

That's horrifying and I can see that the ratio of late term miscarriages are going to sky rocket.
