Artcow Aaron/Senna Diaz - Creator of Dresden Codak

I dunno, I'm not too big with his coloring myself. It always looks rather pale, especially in more recent years. Maybe it's just me though.

That's true. Another thing that bothers me about his art is the complete lack of texture. He colours everything like it's made of play-dough. It's even worse when he actually does bother to render the clothes but the hair still looks sculpted (best example is the LoZ stuff).

Speaking of, maybe I should deconstruct exactly what bothers me about Clockwork Empire because it's a good example of what's wrong with all of his "reboots".

Legend of Zelda tends to be a common target of people looking for "sexism" in video games because of its popularity and age, and its outward appearance of having a "save the princess" plotline. This draws idiots like Diaz in thinking that if they just make Zelda playable instead of Link, sexism is over! But they fail to have any respect for the series and its mythos. Zelda is not a weak character. She has her own personality and set of skills. In any given game, she's usually the only character that knows what's actually going on, and she has to make tough decisions all on her own because everyone around her is in the dark. A game starring her could easily be very good, but no "rebooter" ever respects her as a character. They think all they need to do is reskin Link into Zelda and call it a day. Because very few of them have actually played the LoZ games. Aaron Diaz, by his own admission, did not (don't remember where he said it but it's obvious)

If you want a female Link, just make a female Link. Ain't no rule that says Link can't reincarnate as a female. If you want a playable Zelda, understand that she's a distinct character that would have a radically different style of play than Link. By forcing Zelda into the role of some hardcore swordswoman, you're ignoring the things that make her unique.

Especially baffling that LoZ gets picked on for being "sexist" because the games are very matriarchal. The playable character may be male, but most of the movers and shakers in the LoZ universe are women. The entire pantheon is female, with the exception of Demise who is evil. There's an entire badass desert tribe consisting of only women. Most of the people with actual authority are female. Hell, Twilight Princess isn't even about Link at all, it's Midna's story. Link is just the hapless redneck who was dragged around to do the grunt work. LoZ is definitely not short on strong female characters, so why fix it?

Because the only thing that Diaz and others care about is seeming like a good person. It's all for SJW points. Why have any respect for a series and its history when you can throw all that out the window so you can seem "enlightened." All of Diaz's reboots absolutely reek of this.

Kinda reminds me, there was concept art for an unused female Link but yeah, there's plenty that could be done with Zelda, if you're gonna do a reboot with her, base her fighting style off of Smash Bros or Hyrule Warios Warriors. I mean we already had one game where they just swapped out Link for Zelda...

I just noticed something:

Diaz has created a one-on-one self-insert in his comic, above all as Kimiko's love interest. His fictional character is truly his Waifu for Lifu. :cryblood:
Other than the fictional one not having hair that is making a hasty retreat from his forehead, it really does look like him.

Aaron Diaz did some new designs for his own art-deco style Batman and what he'd do. The Robin looks a little plain and out of place to me.

I'm really getting tired of the "my mission in life is to make comic books/video games 2% less transphobic" martyrs, seriously if you are this upset about a couple of singlets in a comic book then step away. But no, I guess these people have a DESTINY HOBBY and all its other participants must get the same "to truly liberate women we must always draw them in sweatpants" lobotomy as them.
I think this sums up tryhard fembros like him and most of those "redesign/repair female character" blogs like Escher Girls.

One thing that shits me about Diaz is how he squanders his talent. He's technically skilled but he's only good at things that involve fixed, inflexible, simple rules. He's clueless when it comes to empathizing with people and getting inside people's heads. You can see this in his art, it's well-drawn, but it lacks anything that makes it charming or memorable because Diaz does not have any insight or sense of style.

He's got no imagination, which is essential to being a great artist. This is probably why he shit-talks actually great artists like Crumb and obsessively tries to 'improve' character designs, he's so limited mentally that anything that isn't his preferred blend of nerd power fantasy goes right over his head and this makes him a very angry internet pseudo-intellectual. Therefore, the thing he doesn't understand is actually stupid and wrong so he doesn't have to actually question his worldview or pre-conceived notions.

Maybe this is why he's a trans humanist. He's a dull, robotic little man who can't understand feelings so he wants to believe that Robot Jesus will turn him into the super-rational Borg drone he so desperately wants to be.

The only vibe I'm getting from all of this is that he wishes he (Diaz) were a woman, if only to better understand their many, many everyday struggles.

There are better ways to do this, TBH... Much better ways.

Or maybe he's desperate for sex/companionship since his robot girlfriend isn't going to happen for another century.

I like the content a bit (I especially enjoy Kimiko) but in the end it gets preachy and pseudointellectual. I used to consider myself a transhumanist but that was basically "I like robots and cyborgs and I want to be Adam Jensen." once I caught wind of what the rest were like (especially after hearing them shit themselves and need antidepressants after hearing about Roko's Basilisk) I was like "nope".
Come to think of it I think you guys would laugh at the story of Roko's Basilisk itself.
And now I hear he's a whiny saw type bitch! Lol gets deeper and deeper doesn't it
