They haven't really fallen, they just got replaced. All of those studios aren't the same they were 10-20 years ago. Literally. It's 90% new people with no history with the studio, many of them most likely having never played the classics the studio made in the past.

I'll never get to play a good new Elder Scrolls or Elder Scrolls-like game again, will I? Only a couple of studios will even attempt it and they are always going to put the message above designing a good game, aren't they?

Also Obsidian doesn't have the excisting playerbase to have any chance of preforming well when they go woke. Pillars of Eternity and Tyranny, while good games, were not really succesfull or wildly profitable. And Outer Worlds was a lukewarm and boring mess. There are really no people willing to ignore the tranny bullshit to actually fork over cash for their games.

I have been watching this faggot Spell&Shield, very small Jewtuber, coping about Avowed not actually being woke because 'The setting is written this way so it's okay' for the past several months and it is nice to see that my bullshit detector is going off correctly once again.

I assume this will probably sell 'okay' and people will be relatively positive on it until public perception sours on it six months later.

So my hot take is that I think Avowed is going to be good. The gameplay looks fun, Eora is a cool setting and it looks like they put a lot of thought into exploring dungeons. I'm guessing its not going to be a game that's worth buying on launch, but it'll be a game worth signing up to Xbox live for a month, playing, then canceling Xbox live.

I also think that all the reactionaries are riding a little too high over their recent win streak. Concord got shut down, Dustborn was only played by people that wanted to make fun of it and Dragon Age provided clips for youtubers to make fun of that they couldn't make up if they were trying. What do we have from Avowed so far? Pronouns which are probably baked into demands from Microsoft and their art director being a big faggot on bluesky. Grumms and the others are overplaying their hand on this one because they want that grift to keep going.

None of that is a big deal as long as the game gives me enough agency, which it looks like it does. Pronouns are just another option to select in character creation, even if it's a gay and retarded option. If the game throws weird troon NPCs at me but lets me throw them off a bridge than I'd say that's a bonus. Worked for BG3.

It's probably going to be Outer Worlds Part 2, a functional open world vanilla paste title. Doesn't help that usually anything Pillars-related ends up being boring anyway. Functional to play, but extremely milquetoast/boring. I also saw some people shocked to see Josh Sawyer reposting those tweets, which shouldn't be surprising considering he has been an insufferable douche on the internet for over a decade. One that can make games and write good stories, but an insufferable douche nonetheless.
