The idea that Avowed would have done better if not for the "anti-woke grifters" is just plain stupid; then again Patrician had the take that Veilguard flopping was due to eggs being too expensive and gamers tightening their wallets and not due to the myriad of reason why it actually flopped.

He seems to have this idea that there's a secret niche audience for Avowed that is being scared off by the anti-woke discourse. If your game flops because of some tweets it probably isn't very good and it speaks volumes for a games like this when the best thing you can squeeze out of it is "the gameplay is okay".

Avowed flopped because it was marketed terribly, grifters one way or another didn't do jack shit. After its reveal it got barely any exposure and most people I know who like RPGs didn't even know it was coming out. The recent Monster Hunter also sold complete gangbusters so muh eggs is complete cope.

Don't forget that KCD2, despite being mired in much more controversy than Avowed, also sold relatively well. This argument has no legs.

Funny, because his Outer Worlds review was similarly garbage. Salt Factory made a longer and better analysis than him on that game, Patrician seemed like was phoning it in because he had to pay rent or something. Or he really is out of his element if he's not covering a Bethesda game. It seems he can't really do much other than to over-analyze Bethesda slop for hours on end.

For reference as to just how unimpressed he was, the video in question is literally just him testing out energy weapons in Vault 19 by shooting a few Powder Gangers, reloading the game and trying out a different weapon. Pure mindless content, not sure what he's trying to accomplish but this kind of shit is more entertaining than playing Avowed acording to him. Well, a few weeks ago at least.

He always seemed to have a massive ego so I'm not surprised he's going for some contrarian take and calling everyone else a retard. The fence sitting complete with shitting on "anti woke inquisitors"(hey guys does anyone else think anti thing is just as bad as thing?) is perfectly in like with it too but at least he had the sense to not put that in the main video.
Now of course the retarded grifters like Grummz definitely exist but it's pretty telling that he just throws everyone into that same category.

I dont see how playing as a mage is fun in this game. from what i have seen (and experienced) you just run around in circles waiting for your CD to run out while enemies try and jump you or snip you from across the map. you MUST have all enemies visible on your screen (that's why you need to play in 3rd person) because enemies often sneak up or jump across the field and hit you for 40% of your health. Your allies cant do fuck all since they cant take agro away from you and die within seconds.

Ugga bugga is the only way to play this shit.

Social Justice Anti-Woke Warriors only called Avowed woke for superficial reasons like tranny pronouns and ugly characters, but nobody actually played the game so they couldn't know. Now he has played it and admits it is fairly "woke" but still a good game, but it was impossible to predict this based on the superficial factors and the haters were accidentally right, so you're still wrong even if you predicted correctly.

My general feeling about mages is they show a ton of hints on how it's a OP class and then you're constantly cock-blocked by the game itself. You still can beat it very easily if you max your stamina, the passives and two area spell but it's not really fun. So going BONK seems to be a better idea I guess
While in the PoE's mages and monks were the classes to take if you wanted to break the game and have a blast doing so (like a lot of games of the same genre)
