Call of Duty Thread - Potential return to form? Or nothing but cope on the horizon? You decide!

We are still having fun with Resurgence, but I can't express just how un-fun a Verdansk BR is right now. Every night we play we'll do one game in BR. it's so stale, boring and frustrating. Half the time you're suspicious you're getting whacked by a cheater even when it's not the case.

You caught my interest with the map comment.

How are the new maps? I didn’t think buy WW2 for multiple reasons but the maps really felt small, cluttered, and narrow.
The one that I didn't like was Eagle's Nest, which was a cluttered three lane map surrounded by cliff edges. The others were larger (all in roughly the shape of a square), had various flanking routes, feature some good aesthetic variety (especially Red Star, which reminds me of the Soviet missions in COD 2), and all around felt intricately designed. They're sort of on the large side of things like the maps in Ghosts, but this can be rectified by choosing the option with the most players (12v12).

With the exception of Eagle's Nest, the maps didn't feel as constricting as the ones in WWII. There's the possibility that the other beta maps might be the more better designed ones with the others being three lane nonsense, but there's no way to tell until the game launches.

Maybe I'm just a sucker for the setting, but I'm more positive about this game than others seem to be. Still going to wait & see for some first hand impressions about the campaign, but I'm feeling cautiously optimistic about it compared to Battlefield 2042 (Sledgehammer, despite their flaws, hasn't burned me as badly as DICE did with Battlefield V).

hide in buildings, do recon contracts if need be, most games are basically decided by the 5th ring. i'll admit Verdansk is stale but its a BR, they can't really change the map too much. its been 9? months. just be lucky the vaults aren't back so you got a team in power armor essentially fucked everyone in the final rings. i enjoy the new '84 style if they cant change the map why not change the settings, plus the rip off of battlefield 50v50 is great too.

Cheaters galore on Vanguard. Yet they're going to announce anti-cheat FOR THE GAME'S RELEASE? Congrats, they opened the floodgates for cheaters to prosper one last time.

HERE IS YOUR WW2 GAME BRO

Does that Japanese dude have a manbun? Does that woman have a sidecut? I can't even be mad at the blatantly over the top, unrealistic diversity when the characters look like they're from the modern day, not the 40s. How is it apparently so hard for modern developers to make a WW2 game look like a WW2 game?

In fairness to that Japanese soldier, I think that hairstyle was prevalent in the samurai eras (don't quote me on that).

Why he would have that hairstyle in the 1940s is beyond me though, he could've just had a head band instead.

In current year, how am I supposed to relate to the struggle of the main characters if they don't dress, act and share the same gender fluidity as me?

Anyone care that they are, apparently, bringing Mason in as an operator for Season 6 of Cold War?

I'm not going to buy him. Hell I can't even be assed to finish the season pass this season. Every time I get on there's a new update I have to download which just kills my mood to play.

I'm sure some reddit faggots are cooming buckets that Mason will be available to buy for 24$ and that he'll come with an uninspired and/or ugly weapon blueprint, a stick, a calling card, and a reticle that is virtually worthless because of how unusable it is.

I could see them adding something as dumb as a reticle that is literally just different numbers flashing every few seconds.

Honestly at this point I don't even see why hardcore Black Ops fans would buy faux Mason.

It will be funny seeing lorefags trying to make sense of Mason apparently coming out of retirement twice. Unless, of course, they just accept that BO2-4 aren't going to be canon in this new Modern Warfare universe or whatever the fuck it will be called.

What did yall think of CoD: Ghosts?

The one with the new dog model and innovative fish AI.

I liked it, I don't remember too much of the multiplayer but I enjoyed the campaign and it's too bad they left it on a cliffhanger without a sequel. Also the coop Extinction mode was fun as fuck with mates.
Campaign was average and gray. I liked the premise, but wished they added more context beyond the introduction.

Loved the Eminem song.

Multiplayer was hit and miss. Maps were too big, Squad Points streamlined progression, too much DLC, couple game modes were great. Blitz and Team Defender were personal favorites.

Extinction was blah. I was bored after a few matches. No, I didn't buy DLC.

I've been out of the loop for CoD since like... Advanced Warfare.
Which games since then have been worth playing? I wasn't really a huge fan of some of the stuff that came out during that era and stopped paying attention.
Now that the games have been going back to a better setting for a while now, I'd like to know what I've missed.
