What did yall think of CoD: Ghosts?

The one with the new dog model and innovative fish AI.
Fucking dumb. The plot desperately wanted to remind me that MW1/2 Ghost was so cool and that a platoon of him would be so even cooler. The villain was also fucking dumb. I laugh that they thought they had a plot good enough to warrant a cliffhanger for sequel baiting.

I remember reading rumors that Ghosts would be a prequel to the Ghost character from MW2.

Oh, and add insult to injury:

They made him DLC.

Activision knows how to squeeze blood from the rocks that comprise the people that enjoy COD. It's part of why it's so frustrating to me that I like the games, but can barely justifying spending money on them and am constantly having to deal with the "if you don't like it, shut up and go away" crowd.

They kept getting worse each year.

There was a Game of the Year edition of COD4 that included the Variety Map Pack. Later reprints omitted that code.

World at War had their DLC maps in regular matchmaking. If you didn't have them, you'd get booted out of the lobby.

MW3 introduced the Season Pass model with an ELITE membership for stat tracking. You had to download that first, THEN the DLC you wanted. It was confusing.

Black Ops 2 introduced microtransactions with camos, calling cards and class slots. Ghosts continued that, but made weapons as separate purchases. And one Extinction map, the rest were DLC.

Advanced Warfare was the first to introduce loot boxes in CoD. Specialized weapons ONLY OBTAINABLE through supply drops. And had the nerve to sell an entire mode as DLC.

Black Ops III had microtransactions AND a Season Pass. That Black Market nonsense locking weapons behind RNG. Infinite Warfare cranked it up to 11. AND locked behind a remaster under a Deluxe Edition. $20 extra. Wanted to play Modern Warfare remastered? Buy the deluxe edition, download it and have the disc to verify it.

Then MWR had the gall to re-release the Variety Map Pack DLC for $15 while still chaining it to Infinite Warfare. If that wasn't bad enough, they introduced DLC weapons only obtainable through loot boxes. Even worse, you had to collect PARTS to "unlock" DLC weapons. So it was RNG on top of RNG.

Black Ops IV had DLC but you had to buy the Season Pass wholesale. No separate DLC, it was all or nothing. So pay for updates.

I've been out of the loop for CoD since like... Advanced Warfare.
Which games since then have been worth playing? I wasn't really a huge fan of some of the stuff that came out during that era and stopped paying attention.
Now that the games have been going back to a better setting for a while now, I'd like to know what I've missed.
for me the IW campaign still stands out for the sheer scale and spectacle, but I'm a scifi-fag (woefully underrepresented setting) so take that opinion as you will.

Fuck "COD: Vanguard."

If you want your WW2 fix, go play "Hell Let Loose."

Been playing the beta on PS5, I haven't enjoyed a military shooter this much since BF2.

The integration of voice, commanders, officers, and squads is great.
But can I play a Russian girl equipped with an m1 garand so modified with custom attachments that it's closer to a full auto Springfield than anything?

The earliest I remember his video game selling out was True Crime: Streets of LA

I wouldn't call it "selling out" at least back then. Snoop Dogg apparently loves video games. Bonus characters were a treat during that era. Now, they're DLC.

Now, if you want to talk about Snoop "selling out," look no further than Madden.

I liked Advanced Warfare just for the sheer absurdity of supervillain Kevin Spacey essentially declaring war on the entire planet and building his own totalitarian police state.

Ghosts also had ridiculous villain who was basically the Terminator. He got shot, stabbed, blown up, drowned, and more and yet somehow emerged without a scratch at the end.

Mason.jpg

Apparently this image leaked. I'm really surprised if Mason ends up being the Season Pass operator considering how every one so far has been Perseus and it seems like an easy way to make 25 dollars.

Of course, they'll probably just sell a bunch of skins with it and make their money anyways...

I fully expect him to be a mid season addition or some such so Treyarch can pad their fucking roadmap.

It seriously took them almost a year to add Mason and Hudson? Shit, hope Vanguard doesn't drip feed as much.

Here's the cutscene for the season 6:
Cold war has so much recycled content, they're even recycling the destruction of Verdansk.

Also, great job destroying the continuity you wrote out by destroying Verdansk 84 so that 2019 Verdansk basically never happened. Couldn't even last 1 year before forgetting what you already established.

Verdansks destruction was referenced in Modern Warfare 2019. They claimed it was destroyed during the Cold War and afterwards East and West worked together to rebuild it. So this isn't something they entirely pulled out of their ass.

I'm willing to bet if Mason is the Season 6 Operator, it was a change from the plan. It doesn't follow the flow of the rest of the seasons, everyone was bitching about how old masked Perseus operatives had gotten, and last I heard the playbase has either been dropping or they haven't been buying the Season passes for the past two seasons.

If it ends up being mason and not the bomb disposal guy, it will stink of last minute change IMO

Something was changed, because Cinematic Mason has a beard but promotional shot Mason is clean shaven.

So Stitch brainwashed Adler to blow up Verdansk in order to smear him and the US? But they kind of already did that when they nuked Yamantau, right?

Also...Mason wasn't effected by the numbers broadcast? Yet he was still hearing the numbers when he went to Yamantau with Woods in the campaign?

For something that is supposedly supposed to be connected and thought out, everything feels very haphazardly thrown together. I guess that's to be expected when Treyarch was kind of forced into making this game but sheesh.
