Had a friend of a friend when I was a HS senior who wanted to be a trucker. He really liked to drive so thought it would be a good job, plus also fell for the big bucks meme. I mention this because I just stumbled on that friend and he told me the guy pretty much dropped it before his mid 20s. Driving a truck is not like driving a car, its not fun, its not easy, its slow and its very stressing. Truck stops are no man's land, he saw many truckers get shivved in a fight, in a robbery or by lot lizards. You have to carry a gun because hijackers are still a thing specially on the open road but also in cities, and most depots are in the worst part of town, so good luck not getting killed for your semi full of funkos because that peashooter wont do much against 5 diverse gentlemen with hipoints. Also most truckers are busted, even by their 30s they are fucked up from sitting down practically all day, eating shitty food, bad sleep, substance abuse to stay awake and lousy hygiene.
See what I mean? and again I don't get it, I know ZERO devs who know COBOL and yet everything uses it and the pay is still shit.
