Jason Thor Hall, AKA PirateSoftware, AKA Maldavius Figtree, is in the dramaslop news again after stirring up shit with the Ashes of Creation development team.

For reference, Ashes of Creation was a Kickstarter MMO that has been milking its fans dry for years now, selling alpha test packages and in-game mounts and microtransactions for hundreds of dollars despite not even being in a closed beta state after almost a decade. In one of the most obvious rugpulls ever, after earning as much as it could through its Kickstarter, the game launched on Steam in mid-December and suddenly overnight announced it would be shutting down just a week ago. Mald has been one of the biggest advocates for this game and famously quit Classic WoW after the Great Rouchout of 2024 to play Ashes as his exclusive MMO. (The irony of Mald, a staunch anti-StopKillingGames critic, losing the game he shilled for years is not lost on anyone.)

Mald's crusade against the team has been over the poor in-game moderation and the lack of punishment for repeat offenders. Jason claims the moderation team was only giving out warnings to players who were praising Hitler, calling for the death of trannies, and calling players slurs. Because of this perceived lack of action, he has effectively put the entire development team on his list and will be doing everything in his power to make sure any game they work on will not succeed. (I'm not exaggerating; he literally said they're on a list.)

In response to this, the community manager has released DMs of their conversation, where it was revealed that they actually were banning players for these reports. In actuality, the reason Mald has called for a fatwa against the development team is because the devs only gave a warning to a brave Kiwi who called him a Ferret Fucker and congratulated him on his KF thread popping off. :story:

Japan had a general election, and the "right-wing" Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) under Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has won a supermajority (68%) via landslide in the Lower House of the Japanese Diet–the House of Representatives (even seizing all of Tokyo). The right-wing bloc (LDP, Ishin, and Sanseito) won almost 80% of the Diet, eviscerating the centrist bloc into irrelevance (19%) with left-wing parties barely getting any seats (1%). With the supermajority, Takaichi and the bloc has enough seats to push for a motion to amend Article 9 of the Constitution to give Japan wartime capabilities with a standing military, though they need a supermajority in the Upper House–the House of Councilors to pass the motion to then be passed by referendum, which they do not have. Nevertheless, the LDP and the right-wing bloc can pass any motion into law that does not affect the Constitution without intervention thanks to the supermajority advantage, which gives them access to veto any motion from the Upper House.

To bring you back into memory lane, the LDP following the assassination of its leader and former Prime Minister (PM) Shinzo Abe went into a more globalist direction, with PMs Fumio Kishida and Shigeru Ishiba launching programs to import foreign migrants and laborers from Muslim countries, India, Africa, South Korea, China, Vietnam, and the Philippines into the country en masse. Affiliation to the Unification Church cult, financial corruption, factionalism, and the consequences of foreign mass migration has made LDP unpopular, and led to Ishiba's resignation as PM following the party losing their majority in the 2024 general election.

In the primary election to elect the new leader of the LDP, the creator of 2channel and owner of 4chan Hiroyuki Nishimura as moderator of the LDP debate revealed the candidates to be establishment politicians that care about their self-image and reputation, among them being Sanae Takaichi, a supposed hardliner and a protege of Abe. However, Takaichi raised eyebrows when she will crack down on illegal immigration but not on foreign laborers, as well as wanting to build relations with India and African countries. When Takaichi won the primary election to become the leader of LDP and thus PM of Japan, she put all her primary election rivals into her Cabinet. In addition, the centrist party Komeito, which is connected to the Buddhist cult Soka Gakkai, broke its 26-year alliance with the LDP due to disagreements with Takaichi, allowing the party to go further to the right.

With the help of hapa Minister Kimi Onoda, Takaichi soon focused on fixing the foreigner issue in Japan (promises below). In addition, Takaichi affirmed Japan's policy to defend Taiwan, triggering an exodus of Chinese migrants and tourists from Japan back to China following calls of the Chinese government to boycott Japan. Both actions boosted Takaichi's popularity to a record-breaking 65-83% approval rating. Emboldened, Takaichi directed her party to push for a motion to dissolve the House of Representatives and call for an early election in February, which passed. In the election, Takaichi's popularity won over voters, giving the LDP a supermajority in the Diet, eviscerating centrist parties like Komeito, and making rival right-wing parties like Ishin, Sanseito, and the Conservative Party irrelevant as they could not take gains from the LDP.

Now with the position of the LDP secure, what happens now? Takaichi has asserted that Japan will crack down on illegal immigration, enforce assimilation, make naturalization harder, and limit tourists and foreigners into the country. However, they state that they need foreign laborers to fix Japan's labor shortage in the "Special Workers" program and that deporting them all is unrealistic. However, they promised that these laborers cannot bring their families, will be on a time limit, and will be heavily reviewed to become permanent residents of Japan. Of the 1.23 million laborers that the LDP intends to bring with the program, the LDP insists that the number already includes foreign laborers inside Japan and that the 1.23 million number is just the limit. If foreigners: tourists and laborers, fail conditions that the LDP set for them, they will be deported.

However, as foreign labor is a drug to the LDP and its establishment factions, determine whether Takaichi will break her promises and keep importing foreigners to Japan akin to being the Japanese version of PM Giorgia Meloni of Italy, or does the bare minimum of her promises that Japan ends up in a better state.

TheQuartering AKA Jeremy Hambly scammed over $6500 promised to a children's toy charity and pocketed the money then spent it on children's toys for himself.

Quartering begged his audience for $14,000 to send him to AMFEST. After he raised over $6500 from his followers a whale donator stepped up and gave Quartering the entire $14,000 on the condition that Jeremy donate everything raised above the whale dono to a charity of his choice. Quartering chose Toys for Tots. Over a month passed after AMFEST with no proof of donation being given. On January 22 a superchat asks Jeremy about the donation and he says he spent all the money on trip expenses and there wasn't much left but he made a "personal donation" to Toys for Tots instead. Less than a week later Quartering announces he has purchased $10,000 in Pokemon and Magic cards that he plans to open on stream.
