Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

You do realize the only video we've been show was the Alpha demo from 2018 and even then they said how this isn't the entire game and how you can do actual RPG stuff like use conversations, stealth, or hacking to help you get trough the game. So, your entire argument hinges on one solitary video, that from the start was said to be a work and progress. Yet somehow, you already manage to base your entire idea on what the full game is gonna be.
Well...yeah. It's a vertical slice, the whole point of it is that they're trying to show us a microcosm of what the game will be/have and what they showed us was not very impressive, to me at least. If this vertical slice only showed a tiny portion of the game then it's a shitty vertical slice and you should then blame the marketing team not me. Your entire argument hinges on them fulfilling their promises. Even if CDPR hadn't made false promises before you still have decades worth of industry experience to know that you can't just take devs on their word. On top of that CDPR also has a history bullshotting as does the entire industry and with that clearly scripted driving sequence who knows how much of it is bullshotted, which can mean one of two things. The game is in a nowhere near showable state or the game is showable just not "E3 presentation" showable so this is what they want their game to ultimately look like. This isn't your friend showing you a barely ass functioning demo of a game they've been making for 10 years, this is a big ass company with multiple people working on this project. If they showed you that demo is because that's what they're trying to advertise about the game.

Apparently there was a new 20-something minute demo at E3 but from the description it sounded like more of the same but i'll wait to see it for myself.

If you seriously think it's going to be every thing you hoped for and more then you need to temper your expectations. You obviously haven't been playing video games enough to realize not to take what developers say at face value. Though even I'm guilty of this despite knowing this, I fell into the hype that BoTW was the game of the generation or some shit. Great game still but it was not everything I hope for and more.

I try to have low expectations and high optimism. And I ignore criticism I didn't have myself naturally. Makes me enjoy games more.

Hey those early Witcher 3 bits weren't bullshots. They just consciously downgraded the graphics engine at a later date to deal with the realities of porting to consoles.

Would coincide with the original Cyberpunk 2020 boardgame, where the backstory of your character was rolled for you. It was pretty detailed iirc and would add just that bit of extra flavour to the game. It was fairly detailed and affected your starting position, so it would be great if they could somehow have that in the game.

The lifepath system was one of those ideas so damn useful, it never died. The current incarnation of the Mechwarrior RPG (A Time of War) uses it, as does Twilight 2017 (the successor to T2000) and some other systems.

I remember Cyber Generation, though, and dear God what the fuck was that thing? I never did grok why they went from 'gritty cyberpunk' to 'let's play X-Men with the serial numbers lasered off and all the powers are from nanotech!'.

So then they did the same thing Ubisoft did with Watch_Dogs (data miners found the original HD assets in the game files for PC ) and it was speculated that the whole reason the downgrade happened was for consoles. Guess what, people, rightfully, gave them a ton of shit for because no matter how good you might think the excuse is you are still being dishonest and selling a version players aren't getting. Its just a display of blantant fanboyism.

Back onto topic. Have a gander at this shot of Sasquatch, the leader of the Animals.

I'm still not clear on why they decided on first person perspective for this sucker. 90% of the promotional material CDPR has put out has been bragging about their immersive character creation and how you can choose the shaft girth and foreskin type for your redheaded bisexual tranny catgirl. Granted i'm not a brilliant game designer but it seems like third person plus a Mass Effect over the shoulder view for shooting would be better suited for this sort of game.

What's the point of six gorillion character customization options if all you can see is a gun and a forearm?

Honestly, I think they just wanna test the ground and see if they can pull off a 1st person perspective, rather than sticking to a 3rd person. I do agree that 3rd person would have worked more or say being allowed to switch between 1st and 3rd perspective like in Bethesda games.

It'd be easier to discount that if the GoG launcher didn't still show screenshots of pre-downgrade Witcher 3 with the old models like non-potatofaced Triss, Mel Gibson Geralt, and Kate Beckinsale Yennefer.

Someone's weird fetish just got scratched.

People are overhyping this gaem, seriously fuck you. Nothing revolutionary in theory, only a shit cinematic with a famous actor.
"""Revolutionary""" gameplay comes along all the fucking time and typically consists of blending elements determined by focus groups to be profitable. As a result it inevitably sucks fucking ass.

True revolution comes along a handful of times per generation if we're lucky and while exciting I never buy into it because it's inevitably janky and I don't like to fight with/mod my games because I'm lazy. I'll take well-honed and shined-to-perfection well-traveled territory over revolution every time.

CDPR posted the 2019 version of Chippin In

Also what's this noise about the 2018 ver. being scrapped?

So, apparently one gaming mag revealed some more details about the game. The player will be offered 3 career choices (Nomad, Corpo and Street kid) with the first starting you in the Badlands while the other will probably start you in Night City. While I wouldn't mind having the other options, I think just having the more popular 3 works best.
