Careercow Dan Harmon - Creator of Community, co-creator of Rick and Morty, and barely functional alcoholic

if the schezuan sauce incident is anything to go by, could you imagine the vast amount of REEEEEEs that would happen if the show were cancelled?
I can strangely picture it. Something like a walkout similar to the 17 minute memorial held for all those school shooter victims. But by a bunch of autismos over a cartoon that turned to shit midway through its second season instead.

Let's get /pol/ and the other autists to start a Twitter storm, just to see what happens.

Welp, seems like the ride is finally over, maybe.

Truth is he didn't confirm shit except that little snip from the Tweet above.

The tweet came in response to the fan calling him a “lazy alcoholic” for not having already finished season 4.

Harmon has been very open about his alcoholism in the past and clearly does not shy away from criticism on social media.

Last December, news broke that the show’s next season was in limbo. Back then Ryan Ridley, a former writer for the show, hinted that no one was working on season 4.

Gotta love 2018 "media", where an aside comment in a random tweet is "100% Confirmed!!".

Click back a few pages, the tweet was posted earlier and we've already theorized he's trying to pull one over on Adult Swim for a better seat at the negotiating table. Knowing the history of Adult Swim's management, this will (hopefully) backfire horribly and either get Rick and Morty cancelled for real, or get Harmon sacked and let the half of the creative team that isn't a sad self-loathing alcoholic write the next season.

It wouldn't surprise me if Adult Swim was holding off on announcing a renewal to put more distance between then and the tweets from the Community writer who accused Harmon of inappropriate behavior. Had they announced a new season right after that, the #metoo movement would be all up Cartoon Network's ass, wanting to know why they would do business with such a problematic person and why there are no troons on Scooby Doo.

You know, I think Harmon might want to be fired. Addicts, like Dan (as he loves using as a crutch every three seconds) tend to only work to get money to feed their addiction. He'll quit the show, literally piss away his millions on comically expensive liquor, and then try and get a job again once he sobers up.

Little late on the draw, she had since gone and given him an overwhelmingly glowing acceptance of apology mere days after that happened.

Something to note about Dan; he behaves like this in part because he more or less always wins. He's never come out of a feud without a free pass. Shit just doesn't stick t him and I think at this point he really does expect to more or less completely get away with whatever he says or does.

Unrelated to your point, but this picture of Harmon is the thing that's finally convinced me that he's really autistic and his self-diagnosis was on point. The deadness in his eyes combined with that sorta-rigid, "I'm trying to hold my body upright but don't know how to make it look natural" posture, is what's doing it for me.

With any luck, that may end up biting Harmon in the ass. A big reason he often tends to get off scott free seems to be because his "talent" is made out to be invaluable, especially by fanboys, and I'm sure he expects that to continue with the expected popularity of Rick and Morty. But between his latest scandal, the meme sauce riots turning the R&M fan base into a laughing stock, and the long haituses meaning there's a greater chance of looking at the previous seasons in hindsight and finding more and more flaws and lose enthusiasm for new seasons, I think Harmon's heading towards a final straw in the future.

time to place a few bets bois, my own prediction is that AS will take an eternity to renew the show, fans will lose interest, and the only ones left will be brony-style holdouts who will diarrhea their cargo shorts when season 4 releases in 2028
Venture Bros fans to Rick & Morty fans: You think you know about suffering?

A little bit :offtopic: but does anyone have any links or stories about what happened with Metalocalypse getting cancelled? From what I remember, it seemed like the main Adult Swim team was getting really annoyed with the fanbase, which was constantly shit talking them on social media. I've heard offhand from some people who have done work in Altanta and have worked with and know people who worked at the Williams Street studio that the main AS team is trying to maintain a certain culture among their demographic and absolutely will burn a show if the fanbase "gets out of hand". I don't know how credible that is though.

I'm only bringing this up because I'm kind of seeing the same pattern with R&M (although this time it's far worse), and I'm wondering if anyone has read or heard anything similar.

I’ve heard they have a weird corporate culture but nothing involving the fan base. Just kind of a weird political scene. I never heard the nitty-gritty of what happened behind the scenes but even with Brendon Small trying to get any kind of conclusion to the series they refused.
