Dead by Daylight and other Asymmetric Slasher Games - Discuss the games and the autistic/entitled communities around them

The problem with such a suggestion is that most of the maps are already fucked. So if you make it truly random (I.E. certain loop spots and killer shacks are no longer guaranteed) then you get all kinds of nonsense up to and including "fat shame" spots. They're called "fat shame" spots because Killers have a wider hitbox than Survivors and sometimes the game spawns narrow passages where a Survivor can get through but not a Killer. It's not terribly common but it does happen and 99.9% of the time will fuck you over as Killer.

But if you made it truly random you'd have bullshit like 10 pallets in one and another corner has a dozen windows. The developers aren't terribly smart and take forever to implement QOL changes.

The game already does this. Basically, each map is made up of a group of tiles that get randomized each session (within certain limits; there's internal rules about how close things like pallets, exit gates etc. can be to each other and stuff like that.) However, each map has one or more defining features that stays relatively consistent with each iteration (Fr. Campell's chapel, the Gas Heaven gas station and the gen in the garage, and so on and so forth.) Once you memorize the important elements of each map, you can pretty much figure out the rest of it on the fly.

God damnit-I mean great minds think alike. That's pretty cool.

It occurred to me that if you made a killer whose only power was to drop pallets by himself, he'd be the second-strongest in the game.

It's funny that once upon a time I suggested that should be Leatherface's power to differentiate him from Hillbilly. Either he drops the pallet and then can break it or he just automatically breaks it but he has a longer recovery.

An example of really bad map design that's been like this since the beginning. Only difference is that after a year or so the devs made it so if Survivors run through a window 3 times it gets locked off. But that's still 3 times you have to chase them and guess what? They're not obligated to use that window the 2nd or 3rd time. Loops like this force Killers to either (A) use the Bamboozle perk or (B) just use Nurse to counter bullshit like this.

Edit: rReatards defend this loop and say it's fine because "Survivors waste their time having to heal." It doesn't matter that it takes about 15 seconds for them to heal and they can heal infinitely and when you hit them once they get a massive burst of speed that easily allows them to get back to that spot. Oh, and Killers actually lose points for abandoning the chase instead of downing them.

Loops like that (and the abattoir one in the shed) are the reason why I mainly stick to things like spirit and huntress.

To my surprise, Huntress got a buff today. Her lullaby is no longer directional.

Freddy re-work is finally happening. Going to be in the PTB on the 9th.

I blatantly stole these from the Reddit:

And he's going to have an add-on that changes the Dream Snare into a Dream Pallet that bursts into blood when used. The Snare's remind me of this scene from part 3:

Timestamp: 2:30

Being able to teleport to any gen gives him map control and will be pretty powerful when used with one of the more powerful builds for M1 killers: Enduring/Spirit Fury/Bamboozle/and Ruin. I do wonder if you use Corrupt Intervention or if a gen is completed if Freddy can still teleport to that gen.

Discordance will probably be a really good perk on new freddy. Stopping gens with 2+ people on them as early as possible with the teleport will slow games down nicely.

He also gets an add-on that makes blood appear from all the gens when he chooses to teleport to one. Only downside to that is that he can't cancel the teleport but the mind games are going to be intense. Still a shame it's not the Robert Englund Freddy and he doesn't talk.

According to the dev stream (26:35), it can be cancelled but it will still go on cooldown.

I might actually start perk farming for my freddy now. I think this rework actually looks like a decent amount of fun

Faggots who ragequit finally get punished for being faggots. Hopefully this change happens soon. It should have happened ages ago of course.

Dunno how viable rework Freddy will be (hard to make him worse than the original at any rate) but it seems way more fun and his abilities make him feel more like the actual character fucking with the survivors in the dream world without taking it to the sillier extremes of later Nightmare on Elm Street flicks.

Re-work Freddy is fun. The Dream Snares are pretty weak and really only serve two purposes: force them to throw down a pallet (which is good) and to alert you when someone walks over one. That's about it. It's not going to magically stop them from looping but it will get rid of a pallet much quicker.

The Dream Pallets are where it's at and you can really mind fuck them.

The teleport is really fun too. You can bait it just to fuck with them or equip the Class Photo so that blood gushes from every gen and they don't see a Freddy husk so they have zero clue as to which gen you're teleporting too.

It's still really easy for Survivors to break out of the dream world but since you don't need to tag them and wait between 4-8 seconds or more to be able to hit them it balances out.

So TrueTalent and Hybrid Panda have both covered the re-worked Freddy, and as he stands now, he actually looks pretty good. The consensus is that the Dream Pallets are where it's at, and Pop Goes the Weasel is excellent value for time because you can pop it the second you come out of Dream Channel.

Pop Goes the Weasel isn't great in general but it might be good on Freddy. I do hope that either (A) they reduce the amount of time it takes to teleport to gens or (B) increase the recovery rate on his teleport power. The Snares are okay but the main problem with them is that it takes too long to set them up as opposed to the Dream Pallets. Plus if you use good add-ons for Dream Pallets and a guy is running around throwing down pallets then guess what? You can see where that guy is heading for a few seconds.

To add onto this: there's a whole mind game aspect being explored now. The strength of the teleport will be that if you know that they're at a gen you can run up to it, start to teleport to it, force them to run away, then cancel it and have them run right to you. You put them in a 50/50 situation. Of course, they can just run to a nearby pallet that's 100% safe but it will get them off a gen.

The Snares are going to be surprisingly strong in just ending looping so long as they fix it and make it easier to just place a Snare.

A Chinese company owns a minority stake in Behavior now.

NetEase also released a blatant ripoff of DbD called Identity V that was a mobile game and that's most likely where the relationship between the two companies started. What this means for Behavior and DbD is anyone's guess. But the Chinese conquest of our Vidya continues.
