This game looks interesting, but this thread kinda killed it for me. The community is almost a meme from what I can see.

The Saw DLC costumes are finally available. No word whatsoever if there's any intent to buff the Pig to compensate for completely destroying her end game.

Freddy update is out. It's also nice that they hired an actual voice actor for the update video instead of Matthew Cote doing a shitty job in the original Freddy video:

Edit: I played new Freddy and I feel like he's good. His snares are great at shutting down looping.

PPS: I forgot to mention an exploit where Survivor's could save the perk Sprint Burst where they can activate whenever. It stayed in the game for over a month without being patched. Whereas a similar exploit on Legion resulted in the devs threatening and banning players using it.

RIP Nurse Mains. For those who don't know: Nurse is considered the absolute best killer in the game and the only killer that counters much of the game's inherent bullshit including but not limited to bad map design and SWF players using mics. This is balanced out by the fact that she is the absolute hardest killer in the game to be good with.

They're going to look at a whole bunch of other killers including the Pig, Doctor and both Chainsaw killers (Leatherface and Hillbilly). So, potential RIP for Hillbilly mains as well.

So I binged DBD yesterday pretty hard thanks to the arrival of new freddy, and he is pretty solid. I'd probably rank him somewhere between spirit and hag in terms of strength.

The good:
-Dream pallets are incredible at securing kills
-Teleport is great for keeping pressure up. He basically has one of billy's best strengths, which is B lining to gens after BBQ
-I've noticed that a lot of survivors are having trouble with the lack of heartbeat in dreamworld
-Gens speed is slowed down slightly overall thanks to people purposely missing skill checks
-some people panic really hard when they're in the dream world and gamble more (like avoiding a real pallet and running to a more distant window instead)

The bad:
-dream pallets mean you only have 1 addon slot
-snare is ok, but no way near as strong as pallets
-He's new, so I think survivors will learn to handle him better over time. That will involve keeping an eye on what pallets they see when they're still awake, and getting better at handling the lack of heartbeat
-I spent like 1.5 million BP on freddy yesterday and I didn't even get rank 1 weasel or bamboozle. The fuck is this shit?

I would agree to some form of nurse nerf, but not the others. A skilled nurse is about the only thing I feel that has no reasonable counter play whatsoever (even moreso with omega addons).

The key to the Snares is to spam the shit out of them once you have them at a loop. And obviously lay down Snares at spots they're most likely going to run to. Chase them to a pallet or jungle gym, lay down 2-3 Snares and you can layer them so they run into one after another. That's the trick to it. You can also place snares on stares if you angle yourself, don't look straight at a staircase, put your back to a wall (like in the basement) and then you can place a Snare. I love hooking someone in the basement and trapping the shit out of those stairs.

BTW: when you close the Hatch as Freddy you can place Snares at gates to alert you. I've done this numerous times and haven't had a single guy escape through a gate when I've closed the Hatch. It definitely won't be effective on huge maps where it takes a while to get to where you need to go. But it can be effective depending on the map and where exactly you are.

Granted, I've been pretty much exclusively using the Red Paint Brush + Swing Chains with Thanataphobia and have been doing extremely well with the Dream Demon. Throw on a tracking perk or two like BBQ or a perk like Thrilling Tremors (that shows you exactly what gens they're on) and he's very good. I love chasing them towards a gen and teleporting to it during a chase and mind-fucking them.

I'm against any nerf to the Nurse until they fix the other massive problems with the game as-mentioned like bad map design, SWF in general, and slow down the gens.

I think the snares might actually be better now. After binging again, I pushed into red ranks and fucking everyone is paying good attention to what pallets are real when they're awake. They're also making an effort to go back and remove high value fake pallets that they know will cause big issues for their teammates (like at the killer shack).

I don't trust BHVR to change maps, gens or SWF anytime soon. They seem to like doing the absolute minimum to make the game stay afloat. I've always thought that a good nerf to SWF would be to give them the group a -10 to -15% gen speed debuff for every survivor they're queuing with.

PS: I dumped another 1 mill bp into freddy and only got level 1 bamboozle, and no weasel. I am fucking LIVID.

1: the other problem with Dream Pallets is that you have to force them to throw them down in order to place a new one. And the guy you chased and threw it down can just tell his buddies about the Dream Pallet.

2: they've said they want to address other maps. It'll probably take them another 8 months to a year for them to address horrifically bad maps like Haddonfield, Crotus Penn Asylum and the Thompson House. They've been incessant about wanting to add voice chat to the base game because of solo Survivors. If it's proximity based then SWF people will continue to use Discord. No mention whatsoever in the past year about slowing the game down or balancing SWF.

3: the grind has gotten absolutely ridiculous. If you've unlocked everything on all killers then you're looking at grinding for well over 150 levels in order to get every single perk. God help you if you're grinding without BBQ. There's talk of them changing the progression system and it's reflected in the (atrocious) mobile version of the game where you can no longer dump BP into a character to level them up but have to play them. No one knows yet how exactly this new system might work.

I was lucky enough to get rank 3 BBQ really early, so that's a positive at least. They definitely need to change the bloodweb system considering that it's still the same as it was when the game only had 3 killers. Giving like 4-5 perk choices per bloodweb should be an easy fix.

There's been a million suggestions that would fix the problem. Your suggestion is one of many that pops up. Another suggestion was to remove perk tiers altogether so you just need to grab the perk once. They even brought that up in their last Q & A stream but shot it down. They want to add single player content and encourage you to play that in order to grind and get BP.

I feel like the snares on Freddy feel more of a tacked on thing than something that should be there. I'd switch it for another change like more movement speed or something, it just feels like it cannibalizes too much on what's supposed to be the Trapper and Hag's niche.

Are the Nurse nerfs out there yet? Did they at least hint what they're going to be about?

I think the snares are fine. Makes him an anti-loop killer. The snares are more inspired by Clown and Hag rather than Trapper. They've helped me immeasurably in shutting down looping. The only way they're getting away is if the loop is extremely strong or they use an exhaustion perk like Dead Hard.

Nurse nerfs probably won't happen until after dedicated servers happen. They're actually, for once, having an All Hands on Deck situation to get dedicated servers done and are skipping the usual summer event. They claim they want to adjust her add-ons but who knows with Behavior? I fully expect nothing but nerfs which would be the death kneel of the game if they do it without balancing it first. If you kill the Nurse then killers lose the one killer that can actually deal with the game's bullshit.

They addressed this again recently:

Q: Have you ever considered removing perk tiers to reduce grind?

A: We have considered it. We went another way but the goal is the same: to ease on the perk grind and promote an easier access to more perks. We are releasing these changes in the upcoming chapter update. To give you more information, we are also preparing a blogpost to explain the upcoming changes. This blogpost should be available in a few weeks

They're finally addressing the grind. https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/80354/

BLOODWEB CHANGES
As the game has grown over the years, the number of perks has grown significantly as well. This can make it difficult for players with many teachable perks to find the specific perks they are looking for. As a part of an ongoing series of changes to address the progression of the game, we will be making a change to the way bloodwebs generate to improve your chances of finding the perks you want while also reducing the total number of bloodwebs required to unlock all perks. We are preparing a communication on this change (and more) which should go out towards the end of the month.

This concludes the August edition of the developer update. Over the next few months, we will be launching a bunch of new content, features, and changes. We can’t wait to see what you think once the update rolls out!

It looks like you'll be able to grab at least two perks per bloodweb soon.

I used to play DBD pretty religiously back in 2017 but ended up leaving because dcing and annoying, broken "mandatory" perks like decisive/ruin being in every game were too much of a headache for me after awhile. From what I can see after playing back in May when decisive finally got nerfed, only 1 of these 3 problems has been fixed two years later. Dcing is still common and screws over everyone else out of potential points (which is what anyone plays games for). The 625 pity points should've been a band-aid, not a 3+ yrs old crutch. Killers still use ruin every other game because games still go too fast and alternative gen disruption perks are inferior, which is pretty sad given that ruin is a fucking hex perk and it's still preferred.

I'll probably come back once dedicated servers are a thing if only to see if that does anything to stop the dcing.

Take note that they're going to address faggots who ragequit sometime AFTER dedicated servers. Who knows how long that will take. It's gotten worse with Ruin. Personally, I think you need to run a minimum of 2 perks to deal with the gens. Such as Corrupt Intervention + Ruin or Pop Goes the Weasel with Corrupt Intervention or Ruin or pair Ruin with Haunted Ground to keep Ruin around longer and get a snowball effect happening. The devs have a clear philosophy of balancing the game through perks which is reatarded but it helps their bottom line by forcing players to buy characters for their perks. I had zero interest in the Plague if it weren't for Corrupt Intervention. But I had the extra shards and that perk is pretty strong so I grabbed her.

Rumors are circulating and Netflix basically confirmed it that a Stranger Things chapter is happening.

0r4dtsf8u1h31.jpg

Notice that all the caps have the words "Dead" "By" "Daylight." That and Netflix has been tagging Behavior a lot on Twitter. The survivor is most likely going to be either Steve or Sheriff Hopper. The monster most likely the Demogorgon which will be interesting as it will be the game's first non-humanoid killer. Of course, Behavior could fuck it up and just make the Stranger Things killer a possessed Billy from season 3.
