Or the morgue that has an absolutely absurd amount of storage for dead bodies. None of that is enough, you need "capitalism bad" spelled out in graffiti apparently.

CEC is definitely a dystopian megacorp, but the illegal operation on Aegis 7 was logical. There was seemingly no reason for the system to be restricted, and Aegis 7 was ludicrously rich in resources, enough to finance many future CEC endeavours

The combination became deadly when they discovered the marker, and CEC greed clashed with Unitologist fanaticism.

Had the church not loaded the Ishimura with fanatics the situation would never have gone as bad as it did. With the situation on the colony getting worse after the marker discovery any sane captain would be wary and keep the marker on the planet, but the church demanded the marker be brought onboard to be transported to earth.

Indirectly CEC greed helped avert doom for earth. Benjamin Mathias was still a CEC employee, and he could not return with the marker until the planet crack was over. Had he abandoned his CEC duties the marker would have made it to earth

Something I just noticed on the Impossible run I'm doing is that the helmet on the some of the USM Valor posters actually look like the OG military helmet instead of the Punisher logo we actually got.

I have now firsthand seen the context for the "Kendra is a lesbian" and "black lady replacement for Johnston" in the remake.

In Kendra's case, it is literally the most throwaway of lines given in response to the fact that Isaac has been rewatching a video recording of Nicole nonstop and it doesn't necessarily insinuate that Kendra is gay – that's just one POSSIBLE interpretation that could be gleaned from what she says:

That's it. That's the line. And that's all that's ever really said about it. It's not exactly shoved down your throat, moreso it's thrown out there into the ether.

In black woman Johnston's case, she doesn't join the the initial boarding of the Ishimura because she apparently injures her ankle during the Kellion's rocky entry into the Ishimura, so while that makes it to where she doesn't IMMEDIATELY die alongside Chen in the opening beats, she's still doesn't survive past Chapter 1 (not to mention the fact that she has a total nonpresence from when you leave her on the ship to when you come back to it) as, when Isaac returns and the Necromorphs destroy the Kellion's singularity core, she ends up dying to an explosion and her body's lost with the Kellion going down in flames. Though she lives longer, she remains a nothing character and goes out essentially like a nothing character anyway.

(I had another screencap to spoiler and post for the Johnston death scene, but the Farms is currently being a stubborn bitch about uploading a larger image like that. You can look up any video on it for yourself to see that she's not exactly given a very dignified or glorified death. She stops to blast on a Necromorph popping out of a side room in the ship, and as soon as you walk up — Boom, dead, and Isaac, through plot armor, is blown out of the ship to safety.)

These are two more of the things that have caused continual kvetching about how awful this remake is. Positively ruined by [current year] political bias, I tell you. Absolutely game-ruining.

Did you ever play Dead Space 2? It’s a lot better. Dead Space 1 was like the stepping stone to Dead Space 2. Although I still love the first game, but the sequel surpassed it completely.

I did. I did think it was much more streamlined and fun but for some reason the games didn’t grab me like they did most people. I’m not knocking the games at all. There’s definitely high production value and they’re competent. Although the lukewarm reception to the remake makes me want to revisit them.

To be fair, the whole world of dead space is a shitty capitalist hellhole.
Beat the game, so I'll ramble.
The game doesn't retcon much of the lore and references expanded stories and such, one of which is they reference the Massacre exlusive to the Wii rail shooter Dead Space. Ironically enough, it was great and I'd be down for a DLC about it.
The game doesn't hide the fact Uni's are fucking insane so having Nicole be a deconversion agent for Unitology is interesting. I didn't hate it. Some spoilers about dead space lore.
Altman, the founder of Unitology was an unwilling martyr for the religion and was murdered by the government to further the agenda. In the book, the government actually is the one perpetuating Unitology for a while. By the time the games come around everyone who knows the truth about it is dead, with Altman being known for fake news and altered footage to make him out as a prophet. Unitology was founded by a splinter faction in the Earth Government. Due to two hundred years of infiltration, most high-ranking members of the government are Unitologists. With how marker heads are perceived in universe, having deconversion therapy makes a hell of a lot of sense.
I could complain about the power nodes getting a huge buff, but I won't. I think I definitely needed my upgraded plasma cutter the whole run and I'm glad there's no empty levels and node locked doors.
It's a really good game and I really do hope we get some story DLC, even if it's just re-used assets with a few new voice lines.

Yes, that's what everyone is making fun of. They threw in a line just to say Kendra is gay/bisexual and then never mention it again because Kendra's personal life didn't matter to the character now or before. They could have had the exact same opening dialogue as the original and it would have been fine.

Calling it game ruining is of course a stretch but it's goofy as shit. Really the issue is that people are laser-focused on stuff like that and it makes the more controversial story changes (Isaac and Nicole's relationship being strained, Nicole being less of an innocent bystander, Kendra being much more noble and abandoning her mission to destroy the marker) fall to the wayside.

Even at a discount I doubt I would give it a chance given everything is nig and troon with the Ishimura.

You can't expect remakes nowadays to be anything but lazy or woke. There's a few decent attempts out there, some far better than others but the goal of a remake should be to replace the original experience. Not cut content, or alter the overall feel of the original for the worse.

I hate the idea of a RE4 remake since I don't find it necessary, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

Doing my first Hardcore run on DS2, died at chapter 7 without any saves, but at least in redoing it I noticed that DS2 is literally killing trannies
