Dead Space Thread

Something like that. Often the ragdolls would never stop moving/rotating in circles on the ground even after you killed them. Or they'd freak out and shake all over the place
Weirdly Bioshock had that same issue where dead bodies would keep moving and other odd physics glitches.

The pozzed Andromeda devs complained about Frostbite, saying it didn't come with a pre-built inventory so it was obivously not suitable for an RPG! (did they hire people from the ME modding scene or something?)

Meanwhile, the team that churn out american football games on an annual basis doesn't seem to have a problem but those guys probably have natural hair colors. What I'm saying is that Bioware is a bunch of fags these days and if they have a hard time with anything it's likely because they're incompetent.
You know, I never thought about it, but you're right, I can almost guarantee you the developers of sports games are probably entirely free of danger hairs and soyboys, because EA's Wokeness is sure as shit gonna stop at their golden gooses.

Who are the people that make something like Madden though? Imagine how fucking boring a job that would be, year after year making the same basic fucking game again and again.

From what I've heard about them in the past there's a lot of old timers that likes football, they have families and all that so they're not going to want to move around as much. Normal professionals and not political radicals, I guess that's why there's no racist sexual abuse scandals coming out of Tiburon even though that place should be a hive of toxic masculinity.

Finding pictures of them proved hard, the people making those games doesn't seem to be like the Andromeda devs sperging out on twitter and using Mass Effect as a hook to get exposure and make people to listen to their dumb personal politics and grievances.

EA is pushing a danger hair in their promo pics for the studio but it's no one I've ever heard of, I can't find her twitter, no dumb tattoos and she doesn't look insane. She actually looks kind of happy.

Two other pictures from the studio. Promotional and curated, sure, but it shows a couple of people.

Looks like they're more diverse than the socjus teams as well. The best Bioware could do was get Manweer Heir, a Keemstar looking Brahmin-nigga.

Visceral during DS1's development were really something else. The story behind the main menu's background and design inspiration for the necromorphs was unheard of at the time. Shame they got added to EA's growing pile of victims.

Remake is probably going to be a hot mess. No doubt they'll fuck up the atmosphere and tone trying to pretty up the game with Frostbite. Reaching out to twitch streamers is more than likely for PR than anything else.

So, it's been confirmed: Dead Space 1 is getting the Resi treatment with a remake to drum up interest in an old series fallen from grace. Even tho I think DS3 was fine, it was just a little disappointing compared to DS2

Okay, so what are my expectations, hopes and dreams for this?

Expectations

- Plot will be the same but with dialogue changed around to be more "Relevant"; more hip speak you would see in a twitter thread.
- Unnecessary humor injected into the video/text logs, prolly with stupid jokes or some such. 100% certain there will be a log about a lady crewmember whinging about her boyfriend cheating or some shit.
- Mercer will get race swapped. I don't have a really rational reason for this, it's just a gut feeling. I'll be really happy to be wrong tho.
- Unitology will be portrayed as even more evil and scummy, because people can't pick up subtle hints that maybe a shady religious organization MIGHT be bad
- Dismemberment will be here and better than ever, but at a visual level; it'll act the same as the other games in terms of mechanics.
- It'll play like before, but maybe less competantly so. I can't really put it to words, I just get the vibe the gameplay will feel a little less polished.

Hopes

- The Necromorphs will look absolutely disgusting here; I wanna see the Wheezer-type Necros at their worst with 2021/2022 scale graphics. I WANT TO FEEL DISGUSTED AND AWED AT THE MALFORMATION OF MY FELLOW MAN.
- Ammo stays as it was beforehand, where you could have big stacks of plasma ammo for days.
- Dynamic "playing dead" animations for Necromorphs. First time a Slasher did that and I caught, I legitimately jumped out of my chair. I want that sensation again, but this time without played out animations. SURPRISE ME LIKE RE2 REMAKE DID.
- Maybe some new guns. The Rivet Gun, like many have said, would be a perfect fit here.
- NO MISSING GUNS. Keep the arsenal in it's entirety.

Dreams

- New, actually interesting Necromorph types. No rehashes of old types, no reskins or any of that shit, new wholly original types. Maybe one that can mutate other Necromorphs to different forms, or a variant that can float about acting as a living mine?
- Proper VR support, none of that half assed shit. I want to interact with the world truely, like in HL Alyx or Boneworks. I wanna punch a Necro in the face and stare at the intricacies of my weapons please and thanks.
- Toggleable First/Third person camera. I always found first person to be more engaging and immersive, but I also like seeing Isaac doing things and reacting to the world, so this option can please both halves of my desires.
- Actually good expansion on Nicole and Isaac's relationship; I wanna be emotional torn like Isaac is. Furthermore, I want to see Isaac in more emotional pain when it's revealed that Nicole is really dead. I want to feel Isaac's despair and smile with the knowledge that he will recover and be a better person for it.

- Co-op No lol. I do wish modding tools exist tho. Imagine something like Brutal Dead Space. How would that even work?

I remain cautious about this. On the one hand, if this works out well somehow I'll be REALLY happy and hopeful for potenially a DS2 remake of the same quality. If it sucks...

Well. I'll laugh about it with you guys and play the OG trilogy a bunch.

I want more surprises and maybe some punishments for attempting to do things the old fashioned way. I remember some of the tension was taken away once I realized I couldn't trust anything to stay dead, and I just fucking stomped or destroyed every dead body in every room.

Speaking about dreams and hopes, I feel like Im the only one that wants to see a remake of this Wii gem on VR?

Extraction did something smart and creative and decided to make it a prequel instead of some downgrade from the console ports. Making it a side scroller was a really neat idea too that did fit with the "haunted house" style of the first dead space. Im a sucker for Dead Space's lore so seeing the fall of the colonies was awesome, there is some brutal imagery that Im surprised was able to be on the Wii...the game really lives up to its brand. Not only that but we are brought back to old and new locations, some right out of the first game's layout. It really brings it all together while also adding more to the mythos. They even brought the Zero G sections for legitimacy

The arsenal was also very familiar but unique, bringing weapons from even other medias (the pistol was from the DS Downfall animated movie). It really felt like the people doing this game wanted to place it neatly into the lore and I love it for that. The worst part nowadays is to find a legit friend with patience enough to setup my old Wii U and play "that dead space game on the wii" which could scare away someone that doesnt know any better .

I could see the remake make a few references to that game, although I hope there're bits set in the sewer system.

Going through knee high water, with Necromorphs ambushing from below, could make for a tense experience.

That's true, we never DID see where all those toilets send their waste for storage...

BRUH, if I were the devs, you could totally put something like the Leviathan down there. Necromorphs + waste of all sorts including nuclear tbh = REALLY fucked up boss. It'd be great.

Yeah it sucked they didint do more with the survivors from that game, The DLC for DS2 was great but far too short and never followed up on.

There was no reference to them in Dead Space 3 and the Severed DLC is console exclusive (which sucks tremendously) so yeah, quite the disappointing we never get a conclusion to their story (unless you count DS 3 Awakening's ending as "they all died, the end")

Awakening was such a mixed bag. Sure, it felt more disturbing than the base game (although I thought Tau Volantis was unsettling in its own right, like with the explanation for why it's an ice cube), but that fucking ending made everything done in the series meaningless.

I thought the original ending wrapped the series up decently, so why they opted to do that is beyond me.

Same here, I legit prefer the vanilla ending with Isaac and Carver possibly sacrificing themselves to destroy the brother moon and save Earth for the time being with even the implication Isaac could still be alive despite all (dude is a survivor afterall).

Awakening kind of ends the whole franchise on a cliffhanger/downer ending. Its clear they wanted to setup Dead Space 4 but given how, unlike the previous two entries, a sequel to this one wasnt practically guaranteed, it was ultimately a stupid move.

Isaac went from taking down lovecraftian gods in the vanilla ending to being a total failure at stopping them in Awakened.

Last time I tried Dead Space I found it too dated looking to hold my interest, a remake is a good idea in theory, if it weren't for Woke poisoning EA.

We'll have to see how it goes.
I guess nostalgia isn't worth your time after all. Once you get in to the groove, play it at night, the terror vibe really ratchets it up. I've never felt the sense of utter desolation from any other game ds2 comes close, but that's kind of on rails in how it forces the chapters on you.
