Yeah the convenience of paying less for food is my unabashed reason for getting groceries (mostly) from Walmart. If I want something nice, I go somewhere nice. If I want basic and cheap shit, I go somewhere basic and cheap. I don't want to spend a bunch of money on an artisanal loaf of bread when I can use the difference to buy a box of pasta that will feed me for half week.
The supermarket in my coastal town of 7,000 has a bakery that makes several types of actual bread (among other things), and a deli that sells wheels of cheese with names I've never heard of.
One thing that stuck in my mind when being in the US was how fucking sweet the bread was. It was borderline disgusting. Generally, all your food is just way too sweet. After a week I thought I'll rot my teeth. Also your chocolate is inedible.
No but I think the likelihood of Null moving to the midwest when he returns from his exodus in the desert of Eastern Europe has increased significantly
Looks like Dankula just put out a video about Ruby Ridge. Hell yeah, time eat eat some processed ham cubes, cover it with some plastic cheese and take some of my 90% air by volume bread and make myself a tasty American delicacy so I can seethe at my federal government as is tradition.
Funny you mention that. I poked fun at my grandfather for putting a bull bar on his truck. Saying things like "ya know even if you hit an animal it's still gonna push the frame in." Two months later he strikes a 562lbs doe elk in the hind on the highway coming to visit me and I stood corrected. The truck was completely fine. And we had elk in the freezer for a year and a half. That doe was tough too. Found a .54 cal muzzleloader round in one of the back strap fully mushroomed.
Smoked elk ribs are pretty good null. You should have some elk. Maybe go hunting when your back in the states. Lots of fun.
Null, I respect you man and you do great work. But nigga, you're an expat. America is the top exporter of food. To suggest you can't find real food in America is retarded. I live in rural Missouri and there is at least 4 grocery stores in my area. People just eat processed shit here because it's cheap and tastes good.
Alright, let's all calm down and come to a realization. We're all unwillingly scouting an area for Josh to live when he returns to the States. Let's take this opportunity to gaslight him into believing some ghetto infested area has the best meats and cheese.
Depending on where you go, a lot of the supermarket chains have a lot of cheeses from other states, biggest ones I know of are Cabot (Vermont) and Tillamook (Oregon).
Also, there’s a good chance you’ll see a section of fancy cheeses like the soft ones, or the ones that you can crumble like feta and Gorgonzola (sometimes it’s even sorted by country). So good cheese is easy to find if you’re not like Foodie Beauty or Jack Scalfani and actually appreciate a good cheese like Wallace from Wallace and Gromit.
And while we’re talking cheese, let me tell you about chopped cheese.

I live on the KS/MO border and all my meat & milk is from a farm but it's literally because I knew the guy growing up so he just gives me beef, chicken/eggs, and pork whenever I call him up and ask for basically pennies. this isn't really the norm anywhere outside of family members. Bread in the US is generally sandwich bread shit outside of extremely expensive and uncommon bakery places. My lady generally makes different kinds of bread at home bc it's cheap and she likes doing it for whatever reason so I have that covered. but good cheese? good fucking luck. the 'artisanal' section at any grocery store or supermarket even high end ones is a joke. it's highly expensive & still low quality cheese but any average swinging dick out here won't know the difference and thinks fancy = good. I'm pretty content with shitty American food in general but I am thankful for however long I choose to stay where I live I at least have it better than most people when it comes to meat
There’s a European import deli and a game meat store not to mention the countless polish delis near me. Also a few beer pubs that does craft beer and game meats with cheeses on their menus. This isn’t the 00s any more. Even my local Walmart deli has different meats and cheese selections.
Null seems under the impression that most Americans live like Courage the Cowardly Dog. A solid 75 percent live either in a city or in a cities metro area, which is huge. I'm hard pressed to think of any time I was ever more than a 20 min drive from a real grocery store
I think local meat is better across western United States then in Europe. You can pick up a half cow or so from a local ranch and price per pound is cheaper then the supermarket for better quality ( higher initial cost upfront for a year worth of meat). Some stuff you can get at your local farmer market that not pretentious. But U.S bakery do suck in general and they have no savory food for the most part just sweets. Bakeries in the Balkans are best for fast food savory items.
I can go to the farmers market and find locally grown farms selling vegetables, and beef, pork, chicken they've raised and even a local dairy. I used to work on my grandfather's orchard before he shuttered it about an hour away from where I live now but we still keep some producing trees on it for the family too so my family literally grows their own peaches, pears, cherries and apricots. I grow my own tomatoes in the backyard. There's a produce stand about 5 minutes away from me that grows vegetables and berries in the lot behind it that I stop by sometimes. As far as bread goes there's multiple bakeries near me and I always get the fresh baked rosemary garlic bread from my favorite one. I don't know of any bakery that doesn't sell loaves like that around here except maybe the Mexican ones?
IDK seems good enough to me. I'm not going to dox where I live but it's not rural by any means it is however near multiple rural and farming areas.
I think this is more to do with Jershes inner /pol/ tard than it does with any tangible IRL issue.
>Gotta live in the middle of fucking nowhere because le niggers are scary and something something modernity
>Hey what the hell, people that live in the middle of nowhere aren't worldly and there isn't a local market demand for my plethora of faggy European treats
There truly is no place in this world for a tard who wants to live in a meme instead of reality.
You can either have gay ass fancy boi treats within walking distance or you can have a bucolic life away from civilization, including it's downsides and it's benefits.
And even then you can still get just about anything you want within an hours drive or online, something that no actual country dweller minds at all.
Even Canada has less toxic and more healthy food than the US. McDonalds Ketchup in the US for example contains chemicals that are banned in Canada. (Which is why McDonalds Ketchup tastes better and more organic in Canada). As for cheese. It's actually more expensive in Canada.
