Quite the opposite actually, when I was younger I was extremely frustrated by the lack of autonomy I had on account of not being above the magical '18', and by the amount of irresponsible behaviour that was excused on account of people who were perfectly capable of behaving otherwise being regarded as 'teenagers'. I regarded myself as being an adult and I held myself to that standard, and as a result I found people were repeatedly shocked by my age and I was able to do extremely well for myself as a result. It's quite obvious to me that this distinction is entirely in people's heads and serves to severely stunt people's growth.
