Nah, he does that for every game he plays anyway, because he wants to make it look like he's truly a pro gamer that can pick up a controller and play at a professional level.

Yes, and no. Side content provides a lot of the exp and loot along the way, so you can skip it all, but Phil isn't good enough at games in general, or strategy to manage without leveling as much as he can.

Same thing happened with Daveinity 2 Original Gin tho. Trolls were laughing at him finally playing a proper cRPG, saying how he'll put the game on easy just so he doesn't get rekt. What ended up happening is that he didn't put the game on easy to prove da trollz wrong, got handheld to hell and back, and still got fucking destroyed because he didn't understand even the basics of the game's tactical combat system, didn't understand the element system which ended up with him fragging his own party members multiple times and he would often get so impatient that he'd acciDENTally have his characters attacking thin air. There are just some games that he can't brute force or get handheld through no matter how egregious it gets. If he ever would replay Darkest Dungeon or try the second game or if he ever played a strategy game like Total War, he'd still fail no matter how much he'd get handheld.

No way he can beat it in 40 hours. Main story is at least 50 hours, with Phil's stalling, begging, mid-game rants, guide reading and handholding you can add at least 25 more hours to that. I'd say it's gonna be like Skyrim and he'll play this game for at least half a year, if he doesn't rage/wagequit that is.

Its literally going to be a divinity 2 all over again. Excited to see the pig struggle his way through some combat situations in this though. Gonna lead to some good clips for the three streams he plays it.

The game is pretty balanced around you doing at least some of the side content. If you skip it, you can end up pretty underleveled. There's only 12 levels, so even being one or two levels under the recommended can actually make a pretty big difference. With a broken build it doesn't really matter, and there's a lot of broken builds in BG3. But with a few exceptions, a lot of builds aren't things Phil can just look up and follow from a guide. They tend to rely on using specific abilities/setups/game mechanics, which your average (or even below average) gamer could easily figure out. So naturally, it'll be well above Phil's pay grade. As far as I know, there's really no OP facetank style build that Phil usually relies on. Basically, in order to be broken, you need to understand what you're doing, so Phil is screwed.

If he plays on easy it'll help, but I've seen people still get destroyed because they really don't understand what they're doing and just click on enemies. Once all is said and done, I think it's pretty easy to figure out the basics, but again, this is Phil we're talking about. He's already reluctant to engage with the game, and we've seen how he handles similar systems when he played Divinity.

I don't think this is going to be the greatest TIHYDP experience ever or anything like that, but I think we'll get a few laughs. The game is pretty popular and was heavily requested, and we've seen in the past, one of the few things that can get Phil's dents to turn on him is when he shits on their favorite game/characters. There's also a chance that because of said excitement, dents might be going all in with their tugboats, so Phil will have to keep going for at least a few sessions because of "positive support." I think the moment it drops even slightly, he'll pull the "alotta people" excuse to drop and bury it, then lean in anyone who keeps asking for it to come back.

Of course his idea of GOTY will be something retarded like Spiderman or that Mario Game he played, just because he can breeze through those while being high on Gin.

If he tries to avoid side content he'll hit some serious skillchecks in act 1

If Phil was really smart he would hype this game up like crazy. There is one YouTuber (who’s also a variety streamer) who is currently doing a BLIND PLAYTHROUGH of Baldur’s Gate 3 and is getting pretty consistent views for being a smaller channel. If Phil wanted his BG3 playthrough to succeed he would take this approach, maybe enter the game with an open mind and show an actual interest in the lore and story.

However, he’s already built this catch 22 where he’s playing “the most hyped RPG of all time” so just know he's going to shit on it as much as possible, not only because people love it, but he doesn’t want to play the game in the first place.

He’s going to be lackluster about it, barely engage, fumble his way through, and his audience is going to lose interest. He’ll scream about how he was right that the game is to blame and his audience isn’t interested anymore. He’ll drop it and vow never to “fucking play that dog shit game again,” only to replay BG3 for a viewer’s choice event in 2027.

Phil is so determined to be right, he’s trying to piggle the win conditions.

This is 100% what the last two days of impotent rage and super fucking toxic behaviour have been about. DoS2 hurt his ego, so he needs Larion to have a big L.

It’ll be an incredibly frustrating 4-5 streams for him before he’ll cancel it at the first excuse.

With just how angry he has been the last two days I'm thinking that the game might get the killshot after the second stream, no matter the support of how many viewers. Phil need to be right here way more than he needs to feed WWEC.
