5. adventure mode was removed. Did you know you could retire your fortress for the time being, start in adventure mode, steal artifacts, transfer them to your fortress and then resume your retired fortress? Well, removing stuff is fun!
No it's just they couldn't get it done in time to have it available by a 2022 release date. It's literally the next thing that goes back and they're working on it now.

I also don't like the new controls but they couldn't make them consistent with the UI without changing some of them.

The big thing I want is world design with advanced parameters back. (Never mind I just found it.)

Also zones make more sense. They were a (bigger) mess previously.

Only retards and trannies use Discord anyway.

I don't understand, of all possible studios to pair up with, why did they chose kitfox? Tarn's been working on the game for literaly 20 years, surely he must know the ins and outs of the industry by now.
Tarn is friends with Tanya Short, the Marxist founder of Kitfox. In 2017 they wrote a book on procedural generation together.

Of course instead of self-publishing on Steam they decided to give up a chunk of their profits to parasites (indie game publishers) that offer them almost nothing in return, and of course they just had to pick one run by literal Marxists that will inevitably aim to ideologically capture the community (buy out the wiki, funnel people from the forums into a Discord server vigilantly moderated by their tranny jannies, ban all discussion of anything that doesn't align with their personal morals), and then ideologically influence the game itself (trans dwarves, removing all "problematic" mods from the workshop, probably some weird sex-changing mechanics in the future). Literally fucking why.

You don't even have to join their Discord or visit the Twitter profiles of their members to accurately predict exactly what's gonna happen when you let these people have any control over your game, when you can take one look at their about page.

For anyone wondering who's the Hulkin' Hon standing in the middle of their team photo, that's Kira Boom, a "🔞♀ she / her, trans, polyam, and very gay! gamedev working on boyfriend dungeon".

Seriously if they don't like this discussion why even support the game in the first place? Some of the unique stuff that happens in the game is pretty fricken dark to the point it just becomes funny.

Right? This is a game where you can enact ethnic cleansing against any group you don't like, rip people from limb from limb, arrange deaths for useless individuals in your fortress, butcher dogs and cats for meat, skin, and other products, and have a mother soldier go crazy because she carried her infant into battle and it got stabbed by a goblin.

What the fuck did they expect? Did they think this was just some "heckin comfy" colony game? And perhaps, more worryingly, do they plan to convince Tarn to turn it into one?

I know that it'd probably end up being a horrible fustercluck full of ratioing and factions left and right...but I really, really want to see Kitfox bring Liberal Crime Squad - Tam's old project from 2004 that people are still updating - into the Current Year, using Unity or something.

That way, they can relive the glory days of Fighting the Good Fight against the Conservative scum to bring about FULLY AUTOMATED LUXURY GAY SPACE COMMUNISM (for real this time).

They are absolutely planning to do that.
I recall someone from Kitfox criticizing Rimworld's lead dev Tynan for "leaning too much into the war crimes" (aka. giving players too much freedom in the range of actions they are able to do in a singleplayer videogame), and saying that Dwarf Fortress should avoid doing so.
They also specifically announced they are going to be removing "dehumanizing" mods from the workshop - that means not only that you're probably not going to be allowed to mod out trans dwarves once they're added (since trans rights are human rights, and trans erasure is therefore dehumanizing), but you can't mod in anything that might upset the typical wholesome 100 indie game studio employee from Montreal.

They're also whispering in Tarn's ear about how problematic it is to include inherently evil races, similar to how D&D made orcs a friendly diverse culture because they were actually black people all along or something.

Nigga. Goblins in this game literally came from hell there's nothing racist about them. Besides goblins can also turn to hell and say "fuck you" and become completely normal members of dwarven society.

I knew Tarn was pro troon but if they're already starting to do shit like this then the changes might happen sooner than I thought. Trying (and failing) not to be a doomer about it but this guy absolutely just wants DF to be his soapbox. Thank god I held back on buying the Steam release - I can put that money towards a better game like Faith: The Unholy Trinity.

The attempt to censor and control modding communities has been a goal of alot of game devs for a long time, if you want to fight against it make documentation accessible outside official channels, so people can mod a game without needing to go into a potentially hostile discord that will ban them for modding the wrong thing, sharing mods is a bit harder since you can't upload anything "spicy" to nexus or a games workshop, but it isnt like its too hard to share mods via forums. If you want to push back against attempts to censor and limit peoples ability to freely mod a game they paid for, make their rules meaningless and make mods that they seethe over at night.
