E3 (but not really) 2022

Also, the demo for Agent 64 is fucking rough.

It relies too much on Goldeneye, having a (as far as I can tell) mandatory auto aim even though this is on PC as well as optional CRT and "fuzzy" filters.

But then you shoot a barrel, and it is your run of the mill Unity explosion and it takes you completely out of it. There's absolutely no heart or character to any of the animations like there were for Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.

I dunno. Go all the way or don't. Don't go half assed so little things take me out of the experience.
The problem is that the XBLA Perfect Dark still had the heart/sould/character of perfect dark.

Agent 64 doesn't even have a crouch as far as I can tell. How much they charge for this will really be the deciding factor for me, anything over than 10 dollar will be way too much.

There's the start of something here, but not enough for a demo to promote an upcoming release. This still feels like a very early alpha build to me. I'm also a bit suspicious of some of their sound effects.
I just tried it myself and thought it was pretty neat, but it definitely is lacking in a lot of areas. Needs a whole hell lot of touching up. Hopefully they add crouching and the ability to "side lean" while aiming.

I really don't like the fact that you, as the player, suffer from hitstun though. I don't recall getting hit in Perfect Dark or Goldeneye stopping you from moving or shooting like it does in this game.

Well that was awful. Maybe next time plan a segment dedicated to city builders? Then again if today was any indication you risk having your entire show dedicated solely to those.

Also the interviews, oh my god the interviews. We get it, you're making Space Marine 2, but if you got nothing to show for how about you go back to work?

Oh well. At least it was less of a cringefest than last year. And we got a release date for Gloomwood's early access, looking forward to that.

Yeah that's new, maybe an attempt to modernize it with other shooters?

The only time you stopped shooting was when you died and went through the death animation.

I just realized there wsa nothing on Contraband from Microsoft.

They announced shit way too early didn't they?

Geoff did some Q&A about SGF I missed, I'm watching it now don't know if anyone else cares

Maybe I'm a moron, but I'm surprised that Microsoft actually brought people into a location just to watch the stream live.

So far, this has been an absurd train wreck from everybody doing their "Not-E3" stuff. This tells me the industry is in a really tough spot. You mean to tell me that NO ONE is working on anything else and has nothing to show? Are you serious? If we don't see good shit on the 14th I think we're looking at a very dry year and a half for gaming.

He answered my question about why there were so few JRPGs at the show and he basically just shrugged his shoulders and said "I dunno".

Thank fuck that Xenoblade 3 is going to take at least 100 hours to complete.

There's plenty of games in development. The problem is that they are all the same thing because devs have noticed that cut-and-paste superhero movies keep breaking box office records so they are trying to replicate that but with videogames.

Everything I'm interested in is either too independent, or that they don't have anything to show.

I think the biggest problem right now is that games no one really wants to take the risk and the ones that do are too ambitious for their own good. So we get shoveled out the samey type games that are known to sell well or attached to well known brands/developers/publishes.

People say there will be a crash, but I don't see it happening with the modern consoomer mindset. Games still sell, but the problem now is that the market if flooded with so many similar games it's a tough time wading through it. I could go through my Steam queue, and I bet you at least 75% of it will have some sort of common element involved (Gameplay, theme, etc).

My personal theory on why the game industry is shit is that any one worth their salt is either done with the industry or has completely lost whatever talent they had. Newer people to the industry don't have the drive that the older members have and it really shows.

I suppose system shock was a pretty big announcement. The rest of the show was awful.
The game has been in development for over 5 years. They never even updated the kickstarter rewards.

This thing was supposed to come out back in 2017. Just thinking about that now is pissing me off.

More or less. Though the newest one is kinda shit, and I never got around to playing the most recent Rune Factory.
I am very interested in the next Story of Seasons game. This one that just came out was okay. But the next one is make or break for me. They have all the pieces together. They just have to execute.

Aren't the backers of kickstarter projects technically the investers that these developers have to please?

Didn't anybody make a big stink about why the fuck it took 5 years, or were their updates by the devs as to why it was taking so long?

Theyve been showing updates and said that theyre almost doen on februarys update post. The problem is that there is 14 people at max working on the game so it's been slow
