I hope Iceland can keep this up. I'd like to see it go to penalties, England always blow it when it goes to penalties.

Peter Crouch is one ugly bastard of a guy. How the fuck did he get Abbey Clancy?

Likely his personality, he is a very funny guy.

(During an interview)
Interviewer: What would you be if you weren't a footballer?
Crouch: A virgin.

Abbey is fairly financially independent, she's made a fortune from modelling. If not sure though if she's in a similar position to Cheryl Cole: Only famous because she married a footballer.

LOL England, bye bye.

That was really pathetic considering England are meant to be one of the best international sides in the world. A couple of months ago I was hearing things like: "I think England are in with a shout, they have a really good squad".

I think Iceland are like Ireland in that they don't really have a professional league at club level but still manage to punch above their weight internationally. Well England that's what happens when you fill your league up with over-paid foreigners.

It's not so much that as whenever you see England's players play for their club sides, they're really good and with it. But put them in an England shirt and they just phone in their efforts, like they cannot be arsed.

If I were manager I'd fire everyone and start again with 1st division players or Championship or whatever they're calling it now. I'd pick youngsters who've never been on a Premier League pitch in their life and sell it to them with the idea that this is their big break, and they only get paid if they win international games.

Sure, World Cup 2018 will be a write off, and probably Euro 2020 while they get developed, but by 2022 they'll be full of that lean and hungry look that Iceland were tonight.

And before you downvote, this is how the UK got to dominate at cycling. We fired everyone in the mid 2000s and started again with youngsters. By 2012 we had Chris Hoy, Bradley Wiggins, Laura Trott, Chris Froome, and Victoria Pendleton, all of whom are gold medallists.

The aftermath was quite funny, the pundits were all seething. They honestly seemed surprised to lose to (lowly) Iceland.

At 5pm a newsreader mentioned that England are playing lowly Iceland this evening. I hope the Iceland manager showed the team that news programme. I don't know anything about the Iceland team, so any of their players play for any decent clubs?

I think they were lucky to get by the group stage, they couldn't have hoped for a better fixture for the knockout stage. I knew they'd be out when they get to play against a half decent team. Didn't really think it would be Iceland. Is that Wales left representing the UK?

My mother's just suggested the England Team should only be paid a basic wage with the higher bonuses only based on performance. (Goal scoring, blocking goals, etc)

I quite like the idea, considering we just got done in by a part time national Team one of whom's members is the fucking local dentist.

I just saw the result, and it still hasn't sunk in.

Well, FUCK. I'm late...

Italy 2 - 0 Spain

I expected this to go either way, honestly. Though I am glad the stronger team won this one... Nice match.

Iceland 2 - 1 England

GOOD RIDDANCE - the only thing England has going for them is that at least they're better than the US at the sport, but that's not a compliment. England may cherish the sport - but their nation team sure don't act like it. Get ridda' them, just like the UK got rid of the EU.

Their most well-known player, Gylfi Sigurðsson, plays for Swansea City.

Eiður Smári Guðjohnsen used to play for Chelsea and Barcelona, sure, he didn't play in the game against England, and he is 37 years old, but he used to be their most well-known player by far

This is the way it should be. Performance related pay worked wonders for Dundee United in the 1980s. Jim McLean refused to pay high wages but paid good win bonuses. They ended up getting to a European Cup semi-final and a UEFA Cup final.

In my life time I've seen teams from 3 Scottish cities reach European finals, no one outside Glasgow will ever get near a European final again (doubt anyone in Glasgow ever will again either).

If you're getting 400,000 Euros a week you can always half-arse it and still get your pay.

At half time the England pundits were discussing if Joe Hart should be dropped for the France game. And they wonder why everyone hates them

England still has better soccer than MLS. FACT - regardless... Yeah. No better than the US, either (who are worse.) - I'd post a video about it (and how much FIFA's ranking system is BS), if anyone wants to see. Too bad it's from Asalieri...
