I like how he chimps out about how GTA 5 having a torture scene even though you can kidnap people in the game and torture them.

22074298878_0af37934f7_z.jpg

He probably thinks his is alright because you don't see the torture actually happening.

I'm not seeing the issue people in this thread have with the torture. No one is complaining about chopping someone to pieces with a saw.
He's being a hypocrite about it, is my main criticism. He's blasting one game for having torture in it but has torture in his own. If he has such a problem with torture, why would he create a game that would contain elements of torture at the hands of the protagonist?

It's not necessarily the torturing itself, but the fact that it's in a game that is already known for it's innocent-turned-creepy nature, and the fact that it's made by a total creep who explores his fetishes within the game itself.

I thought the complaint was that he game was twitchbanned when other games that feature the same kind of content were still allowed.

Actually, some other games containing similar content are indeed twitchbanned, so to me that complaint wouldn't hold too much water. Especially since we are talking about a guy who seems to like spinning sob stories and one of the very games this one is reminiscent of is twitchbanned too.

It's even creepier since you only let the victim go after they are completely mind-broken to the point that once they kill your rival for you, they commit suicide right away. Also, people who play GTA on Twitch are playing the online mode, not the main story mode where the torture scene is featured.

He conveniently ignores the fact that other games that include torture and murder yet aren't banned from Twitch don't focus around doing such things to underage girls at school.
Pretty much. The main reason it was banned probably wasn't just the torture mechanic, but it in combination with the panty shots of high schoolers, the equally unnecessary boob inflation, hell, I think the protagonist can walk around completely naked.
Don't know if this was mentioned, but the model (at least for the protag) wasn't even made by him. It was bought from a Unity Asset Store.

And now you know it has a wiki.
Annnnnnd there it goes. The last teeny tiny bit of respect I had for him, gone. Shriveled up and died.

What's even better is that he's one of those weeaboos who thinks that Anime is a 1:1 recreation of the "GRORIOUS NIPPON", as evidenced by him literally fucking analyzing a video game to make his vidyas more realistic instead of actually researching it.
To give some credit, he did apparently interview a teacher from Japan. It's not anything particularly revolutionary, though. The most noteworthy thing he learned was that sailor uniforms are more middle school uniforms these days, but even the Wikipedia article could tell you that.

On the other hand, he did cite anime instead of research to prove his point that incinerators are often around schools and accessible to students.

EDITED TO ADD:
Don't know if this was mentioned, but the model (at least for the protag) wasn't even made by him. It was bought from a Unity Asset Store.
The majority of big stuff in the game is.
Protag, the Aoi Character Pack, who serves as the base model for all other girls in the game as well. (In earlier builds, at least 3 girls' hair styles were even the same thing with the ponytail moved to different places. It was even coded in such a way that the ponytail and the front hair were separate, so they had to load separately when the student spawned, since all students' hairs spawn separately from their model. The teachers still use her as a base model, as does the nurse.) It should be noted that this Aoi Character Pack is so popular that other games that use it have been mistaken by fans as rip-offs. He had an edgy original design for Yandere-chan in the beginning, but because the bland Unity Store Asset has become so iconic he seems to be considering keeping her design as it is.
"Info-Chan", the Villain, the Honoka Futaba Character Pack who isn't even supposed to be visible in the game anymore. It should be noted that the original school model came with her pack.
"Rival-Chan", the Satomi Character Pack, which is basically an identical base model so I don't know why he really even bought it. Just for the different hair and clothes? Did he really dump an extra $35 for that?
Senapi, the Taichi Character Pack (free!) which is the only male model implemented in the game. Every male model is Senpai with different hair.
The Succubus Twins pack. Despite coming with two character models, he keeps reusing one of them. Both have their hair/face used for student models, while the purple succubus is re-used in Yanvania and re-used as one of the demon world demons.

He claims he wants the graphics to change in the final game, but as it stands the volunteers are creating models to fit with the current style.

EDIT 2:
He also bought this school infirmary set, and probably other stuff from its creator.

She can, but the interesting bits are covered with comical steam clouds (surprisingly considering the dev), so it's up to the modding community to give us our pervy goodness (PROTIP: The game hasn't even officially come out and they already have done so!)

And that's assuming he's even going to use their work in the final product/bother to acknowledge them (I don't think he has beyond that group mention a few times as it is outside of the Easter eggs).

Also is it wrong to say that YanSim is now going to go down as quite possibly one of the greatest scams in Patreon history?

Miles to go before Brianna Wu's "none of this money goes towards me" Patreon.

He's got a bigger Jew-beak than Noah Antwiler.

Harsh! But sadly, accurate.

I've actually read that on a forum or two, so thankfully it isn't just us noticing it. The herd of fans, on the other hand...

Looking at his earlier work you can see it looks like this isn't the first time he's done this. Notice how his edgy scythe chick is in a completely different style than the bad guys'.

At this point, it's probably easier to answer what he actually made himself.

EDIT: Nope. Even for his edgy game he bought the models, and from the same store no less. What a talented guy. I get it, some people can't make models. But when you're touting yourself as the best thing since sliced bread...

It's the equivalent of using RPGMaker default assets and dodging the question on whether he made them in the first place.

It's understandable using default assets as placeholders, but putting in the effort to customize your own assets goes a long way towards making the game stand out.

Unless he can get somebody to do that shit for free, that ain't happenin'.

Agreed. He does the bare minimum when it comes to customizing, and while placeholders are vital this just showcases his laziness. You're not an amazing game dev if all you do is color the hair differently and call it "done."

Could we get a list of the assets we know for a fact he actually did create? I'm genuinely curious.

At this point, I'd be genuinely surprised if he hasn't already tried to do that.

I don't have a problem with the core idea of this game, I have problems with the inconsistent nature of its content. As mentioned before in this thread the game's development feels highly improvisational. Unlike other forms of media, programing doesn't lend itself well to making stuff up on the fly. The easter egg thing is a distraction, and he would be done with the game sooner if he didn't do them at all. This game has a bad habit of throwing mixed signals like crazy. Is it a trashy meme simulator game, or is it some edgelord stealth game? Pick one.

The introduction of a town indicates a lack of clear focus, meanwhile the school map is still bare-bones. There's also going to be a pool? For a game with stealth elements the environments leave much to be desired everything is just so empty. The FAQ is the closest thing we have to a Game Design Document. His secrecy on the scope of the project makes it fundamentally difficult for him to work with volunteers. People wont put effort into a project that has the consistency of vaporware.

Also word to would be "one man" independent developers work in secret on the core of a project before revealing it, or else you'll get your share of copycats early:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teaandcakegames.yandere
http://www.androidappsgame.com/apk/?id=com.CucumberEntertainment.YandereGirl

Honestly I wouldn't have known that there were copycats save for the fact that he mentioned it on the 12 hour+ Darksouls 3 stream that he was bothered by them. How long until someone with an actual budget makes a non-janky low-cringe version of his general idea?

Wait, so... copycats managed to get working (if shitty) games out faster than the original? Yes, they're cringey and all, but they managed to do what he hasn't: finish a goddamn game.

From the looks of it tho with some provisions.*

Yandere Girl looks broken animation wise*
Yandere School looks the most complete. But its in early access, or whatever that means, or as the developers states:

Early access: game is in development. This game is not affiliated with other developers or games about school
*edit for clarification
