I've been sporadically working on a video game for the past few months, and reading this thread inspired me to clean up all of the shitty redundant code that had piled up as I'd added more features and redo some of the art assets. Thanks, Alex, for inspiring me to do the things you can't!

Speaking of, does anyone think Eva actually has any fun doing this shit? Like I imagine he probably has fun wallowing in the praise and hype that surrounds Yandere Simulator, but I can't imagine he's having a good time actually working on the game itself when his lack of fucks to give shines through in every facet of the game.

I know most generally think of Eva as just a naive retard who just can't be arsed to fix the problems with his game because he's lazy, but I honestly get the feeling a part of him has only been doing anything for the game out of obligation, and not because it's fun to him. He behaves like a childish idiot, no doubt, but I get the feeling even he is aware that Yandere Simulator is fucked and isn't even something he's passionate about anymore.

If you take both that and his interaction with the Skullgirls dev you can see that his mindset hasn't changed through the years. He wants all the praise and none of the criticism that comes with creating something meant to be consumed.

Eva dug himself a hole, it's too late for him to back out now. He has taken a shit-ton of money with his patreon; and also the precious time of a lot of artists and VAs with their volunteer work. If he were to back out now he would probably never be able to show his face on the indie dev scene again- unless he was to somehow release a completely finished game, without all this open development hype stuff on his own.

I've suspected for quite awhile that his Kickstarter plan is a cop-out for if he goes completely dry on Yandere Simulator (which would happen even if he was competent at game development. Working on one thing for years is extremely tiring with all the roadblocks that extend development time.) Handing the game over to a whole new team and washing his hands of responsibility while still getting all the credit and rights for being the original developer is probably the best scenario to leave. Even then, he might still do a good job of dragging his own name through the mud because of the years it would take a team to finish the game- they would probably have to re code and redesign the game from the ground up.

What one has to like is how he dislikes them calling him a sell-out, sjw, and Jew. Not couting the SJW part since the Kotaku thing could be more related to just wanting more fame, the Jew part can be fitting because he literally gets Patreon money. Money he could of used to get better help in making this game. As for sellout, don't know if this counts as selling out but putting in pandering easter eggs instead of improving the game doesn't help one as a developer, it only makes it look like you just want to pander rather than make and improve the game.

If he Kickstarts and doesn't provide the product he claims he will he opens himself to the possibility of lawsuit, but it's up to the customers to actually sue. Kickstarter will not sue for you.

Meanwhile, Patreon is just giving him money with no strings attached on the assumption he will use the money for what he says he will and not a life sized sex toy.

So, if I were him, I'd avoid Kickstarter like the plague because it introduces possible legal consequences for fucking up. Even YandereDev has to be on some level aware that he's in over his head.
