Sentient, but not Sapient.
Pets think (very simple) thoughts, experience (very primitive) emotions, and have (very basic) "souls" for lack of a better word.
They haven't reached a level where they can start producing innovative artists or deep philosophers, but they aren't so empty that it would seem totally okay to hunt them for sport or eat them.

That and they don't taste as good.

Anna is pathetic. I feel like her whole motivation to help Chris is past guilt over the "Crazy Pacer" tale, yet she's incapable of helping anybody. Her advice is bad, and usually not even offered. She commiserates with him, if he's unhappy it validates her unhappiness. I bet Anna would hate it if Chris' life perked up, because she'd be alone and miserable.

I bet anna is already alone and miserable, that's why she wants to keep chris in that fucked up state, so she can "protect" him from the imaginary "trolls" and "bad people" whose only purpose in life is to make chris's life miserable, because she's pathetic and can't even be a good friend, or a good person, that's why she keeps feeding chris's paranoia with imaginary problems...

She is. She's a shut-in with emotional problems. She and I live in the same state and I've told the story a few times on the forums of how I met her in the hospital and how all she does is play Call of Duty. She's nice enough in person, but she has really REALLY bought into the delusion that Chris is some sweet, innocent simpleton who wouldn't possibly hurt anyone. Someone said brainwashed a few pages back and I brought up Patty Heasrt and the Symbionese Liberation Army and really, that's not too far off the mark. OK, maybe not the two of them knocking over a bank together, but she definitely has a brainwashed/Stockholm Syndrome vibe going on with a little Münchausen By Proxy just for good measure. It is seriously one fucked up co-dependence relationship that they have. They need to just fuck and get it over with. They're retarded for each other.

Maybe Anna isn't the white knight we assume her to be.
She has nothing to do. Maybe Chris is her entertainment. Not just his antics, but also our response to his antics. We can assume she lurks here. Who's to say she doesn't rule him up into saying stupid things to watch us rage about it? Think about it, it's interactive entertainment for her.

You're giving her WAY too much credit. Anna isn't that smart. She's a vapid twat. I used to feel kind of sorry for her after I met her last year, but that's all gone. I have no sympathy for her anymore.

Anna has shown so much care and concern for Chris that it makes the most sense. She can help him with all of his Megan drama in a close, personal, offline way. Besides, in her opinion Chris is amazing, so he would be a amazing roommate/lover.

It's pointless, Chris is already ruining his life. A-logging him would only legitimize his claims of being a victim, and he'd probably just blame Megan for it.
