Fallout series

I was exaggerating but I remember there being the cringey beast-woman tribe, a woman asking you to rescue her wife with no explanation of how such a union exists in the world, the really awkward scene with the douchey northmen guy telling a female commander of the scarlet rose to surrender and be his whore but she's a strong independent woman so fuck no, more female commanders than males but I didn't really care much about that.

Refusing to be someone's sex slave is "sjw bullshit" now? How many fedoras do you own?

I meant it's SJW bullshit in the way its presented. It all feels forced and unnecessary considering the supposed discipline the Disfavored are supposed to have. Hell, if it was the other way around with the Scarlet Rose commander telling that to the Disfavored one it'd actually makes sense considering the Scarlet Rose is mostly filled with blood-thirsty lowlifes.

Give it awhile. Obsidian will come crawling back to Bethesda now that their World of Tanks clone (no seriously that's what they've been doing all this time, other than mechanically boring low budget 2d RPGs) failed. That was supposed to be their big money maker.

I don't even understand what happened to Obsidian, between Fallout NV which had subtle themes and multi layered characters, and their Kickstarter, which seemed like a brand new dev teams personal attempt at recreating Baldur's Gate that falls flat on its ass with fan fiction tier writing. And if you've seen their SJW type sperging on Twitter, its like something sucked all the talent out of them.

I'd like to sperg a little about my favorite Fallout games and DLC, and at the end of this post will be a Fallout 4 mod I made the types who enjoy 'build anywhere in the Commonwealth" settlement builders will enjoy.

FO1: Good game. Kinda a pain in the beginning, but it gets easier with some practice and a bit of luck. Story is actually pretty good.

FO2: Even better than the first, somewhat easier to get into, though the tutorial temple area is probably the most stupid thing ever (though from what I understand the creators were forced to include it). Even better story, love the comedy parts especially.

FO3: Story is cookie cutter and kinda boring, at least the main story is, though some of the side quests are pretty good. Still think it has amazing set design and really gives the impression the whole world was nuked to hell and back the best of all the games.

F3 Project Anchorage: AKA Fallout as Call of Duty. Yawn. The loot is pretty nice and hilariously broken in a good way though.

F3 The Pitt: Liked it, good morally grey story, but it was too short and should've had more areas to explore.

F3 Broken Steel: Eliminates the worst parts of the original game ending, actually lets me play after the ending, loved being able to continue ruining the Enclave's day.

F3 Point Lookout: The FO3 DLC that was the best IMO. Decent challenge, good plot, and nice loot all in one.

F3 Mothership Zeta: Fun for the novelty, but the plot was forgettable and ultimately wasn't all that great in hindsight.

Fallout New Vegas: Felt like a proper sequel to Fallout 2, can't really knock anything about it save for the bugs, which are, no pun intended, legion.

FNV Dead Money: HARD, in a good way. Felt like Resident Evil, Fallout style, done well, good plot.

FNV Honest Hearts: Nice change of scenery, good story.

FNV Old World Blues: My favorite DLC, hands down. Hilarious and horrifying story in equal measure, pretty hard at low levels though.

FNV Lonesome Road: Nice conclusion to the DLC story arc, made ED-E more useful. Hard, but not as much as the other DLC if you go in at high levels.

FNV Gun Runners Arsenal/Courier's Stash: More equipment. Nice, but not worth it by themselves.

Fallout 4: Main game is okay. Better than Fallout 3's story, but not as good as New Vegas.

FO4 Automatron: Fun but short. Do love the robot crafting, though.

F04 Wasteland Workshop/Contraptions: Adds some nice stuff to crafting, but otherwise boring if you don't care much for it.

F04 Vault Tec-Workshop: Nice Fallout Shelter tie-in, fun in limited doses.

FO4 Far Harbor: Pretty fun, better dialogue options than most of the main game, and focuses on Nick Valentine a LOT, my favorite main game companion.

FO4 Nuka-World: Until this came along, even Fallout 3 was better at letting you play the villain if you wanted to, while the stock FO4 made it very hard to be a total prick without just going on a total murder spree. And even as a good guy it adds some cool new places to explore, some nice gear, and some more crafting options.

And since this is a mod I play extensively and even got acknowledged as awesome by Obsidian:

Tale of Two Wastelands: Fuses the worlds of Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas into one game. Adds most of FNV's better aspects to FO3, and since it uses the FNV version of the engine, Fallout 3 is actually more stable in many areas. It's already pretty good at version 2.9, 3.0 is coming out soon.

And now, if you could bear all my sperging, if you adore settlement building in Fallout 4 and want to build anywhere in Commonwealth you choose, I made a mod that makes it to where you can do just that in all exterior world areas without INI tweaks (that have issues of their own) that goes great with "build anywhere and everywhere and rip down whatever you feel like" mods.

I think I am the only one to dislike the bulletsponge hillbillies DLC.

I can explain the reasoning behind that one.

The lore explanation is that they spend so much time drunk/high their pain receptors are deadened and so they are tougher to kill as a result. The technical reason is that they and the PL tribals have a special flag in the GECK that gives them a resistance of 30 points to any type of damage, which can be disabled with a few mods.

Oh, I'm aware that there were some actual reasons for them being bulletsponges (I think inbreeding and radiation were also factors). I still hate fighting them though.

Could you elaborate on what you loved about Fallout 3?

3 was the first one I played so I wasn't judging it v earlier releases. I got it and at first I didn't think much of it as I was basically doing what the game prompted me to do. Then I decided just to explore and I got the Brotherhood Outcast Patrol vs Deathclaws* random event and from then on I loved it. NV was amazing too.

*not sure if this was the exact event but I got a nuke out of it.

3 was my first one(XB360). I love messing around in 4 because of the character creation options.

Here's my character:

I'm still kinda surprised I haven't picked up Far Harbor yet, though that might be because I know I'll spend ages walking around and going "Bethesda got this wrong".
Echo Lake Lumber is not on Echo Lake. This is bad and Bethesda should feel bad.

Far Harbor is fine, probably one of the non-Obsidian DLC that captures the spirit of the original fallout games.

Oh, the gameplay and story parts look fine, it's just that my family has a house on the island and so I'm pretty familiar with it. I'm slightly worried that Bethesda will have gotten the location aspects badly wrong (the Echo Lake Lumber Camp, for example, is a misnomer given that it's actually on Long Pond in the game.)

You just have to deal with suspension of disbelief best you can. I got weirded out a bit in Fallout 3 when I realized the National Mall was not scaled properly (having walked its length and breadth IRL, I think the Fallout version is around 1/3 sized even accounting for the fact that the Fallout version is far more crowded in on the borders by buildings), but what can you do. It's supposed to be an alternate history setting anyway, and they probably have to make everything a bit smaller than the real deal so you're not walking for days just traversing the map.

oh yeah I had that problem with GTA IV and V because I've lived in both NYC and LA.

So I'm gonna have a few hours to kill for the next month and I want to give Fallout 3 a try

what mods should I use so far I've got my eyes set on FWE, MMM, DarnUI, DC Moods, WMK, and probably gonna throw in some ENB so it looks fucking awesome on a huge screen at 4k along with NMC and other texture/animation packs

Missing anything?
