Speaking as someone who's probably at the top of the heap in terms of giving Chris money, I have no intentions of ever giving him money to dig with once the hole starts collapsing.

Was it Harry Partridge who proposed that Chris create a revenue stream by posting ad-tie-in videos, or starting a pay-per-view service? Really, his insane and hilarious vidyas are what made his reputation, and got thousands of people to follow his antics; I can see him making a modest income by creating and posting two or three each week and having some sort of commercial link.

He may be slowly realizing that it's him -- not Sonichu or his Lego creations -- that's the marketable commodity under his control. Whether that insight translates into self-exploitation, remains to be seen.
If he does that, I wonder if he'll go all the way due to the money or if it'll just be like the olden days where he would constantly leave the internet "forever".

Everyone who was going to commission a picture or buy an autographed photo from the manbaby now has. Chris doesn't realise he isn't really contributing anything new - I mean, new people are still finding the CWCki and discovering the horrors lurking within, but that pool has dried up since the great content drought of 2012, and now they're unlikely to ever pour in in droves ever again.

Best case scenario we find a way to negotiate with him for the reboot of the comics. I'd pay dollar for those, for real. Not a lot, but if I thought another actual Sonichu issue with a plot and actual effort was going to emerge from the wreckage I'd happily contribute.

Of course, this won't happen no matter how bad Chris's financial situation gets, because the worse things get and the more he needs the money, the more paralyzing DA STRESS will become. (:_(

No, no it's not. The closest Chris has ever gotten to working was when he was at Wendy's. Hell, I'd say him pulling a few weeds in the hot, hot sun was closer to actual work that what Chris is doing now. What Chris is doing right now is what he's been doing for the past 20+ years, doodling sonichu on scraps of paper while pissing away his life. Only difference is now some weens are willing to pay for those doodles. Selling crap on ebay isn't work. It's what you do on the weekend when you have a free moment, want to get rid of some junk and think you can make a buck off it.
Work =/= labour or graft. You may not view eBay selling as work, but thousands of people who make their living off it would say different. Yeah Chris isn't working hard, he's not good at what he's doing and probably never will be - but he's trying with at least a little more focus and determination than he has in the past.

I'm sort of revolted to find that I actually feel an impulse to praise Chris for his willingness to work. Granted, it's incredibly easy, half-assed work and he produces shit that has no real value, but at least he keeps it rolling.

Going back even a few months, who would have expected Chris to type out the words "let me work for you" - even if he has followed it up with "by drawing"?

This is Chris, working for money.

Yes, he sucks at it. Yes, he limps from screw-up to screw-up. But this is Chris' longest period of paid work in his life. He's making mistakes he should have made in his first job as a teenager, and he's learning from them slower than a normal person would...because Chris is slower than a normal person.

Small victories...

Chris laziness is not infinite. If you offer him a high enough reward to work ratio, he will do it. That is the main reason he hasn't spent much time being employed. If he got a job, he would probably make a little under $10 an hour. The unpleasantness of working for an hour is just not worth $10 for him. The secondary reason is that job applications have a bunch of uncertainty, and Chris doesn't process uncertainty well. He is much more comfortable with scenarios where "you do x, you get y". I don't think he can properly wrap his mind around the probabilistic concept that although any given job application or interview is a bit of a long shot, if you put enough of them together, you have a good shot at them. He has, on occasion, applied for a job, but he just learned that it is not the case that if he applies for a job he will get a job. So he doesn't apply for a job.

So those are the two major hurdles he has to beat if he is going to solve some of his financial problems by working.
I'm going to preemptively make a request of people here: when the time comes that Chris can't pay his rent or bills or whatever, nobody put together a charity for him, not like what happened after the fire. Some I know agree, some may think I'm sounding too unforgiving, but the reason I ask is not because I think charity is wrong or that Chris doesn't deserve mercy. The reason I'm asking, rather, is because I'd like to have the discussion only once - and if people do put together a donation drive for Chris when he runs out of money, we're going to have to have the same discussion all over again a month later when Chris has blown his money and needs rescue again.

Because that's what this Ebay stuff is, essentially. He's begging for money because he's rapidly running out, but even if people kept buying, he has no escape plan and he'd be on this razor's edge forever.

I think that is reasonable. As was said above, the fire was a one-time event, those of us who felt particularly white-knighty were able to provide a one-time solution to it. This is an ongoing problem, that the money flow out is greater than the money flow in. If someone put forward an idea to help Chris that was a) likely to work b) realistic and c) provided a permanent or ongoing solution, I, for one, would be open to contributing a little time/money to it. But I can't think of one.

So Chris is blaming trolls? Dammit, I was hoping he'd come up with something more creative.

Stop buying his stuff. Save the money for when he's desperate and will do short video requests, Q&A, etc. You'll be able to get better content. The whole draw to his comic is how Chris inserted him and his personal experiences into it. A drawing of Chris or Sonichu doing something with one world bubble isn't a Sonichu revival. I have no problem with Chris receiving money but save it for when he's actually offering something more entertaining.

So he hasn't figured out the only people who buy this crap are the weens and attempted trolls?

Should've thought twice before socking Barb in the mouth.

Build a man a fire, and he will be warm for a day.
Set a man on fire, and he will be warm for the rest of his life.

Give a manchild a coffee maker:

Hmm. No good solution to that one.

Us being aware of his purchases for the most part isn't helping his case. I've zero pity for him. His begging has gotten even worse.

So it went from "I have no monies" to "I have monies" to "the trolls may or may not be talking shit right now and I have no monies"

It should be noted that in the past four days of Chris "having monies and not having monies", he's purchased another $30 in Lego figurines. Some helmets, boxing glove accessories, and a handful of itchy and scratchy figurines (MULTIPLES) from the Simpsons sets.

Does the fat idiot really think that anyone is going to want to buy lego Sonichus?

Chris really needs to get a better handle on the "sales through fear"concept. The idea is to lead people to believe that they'll suffer consequences if they don't buy your shit, not that you'll suffer consequences if they don't. Consumers care about their own problems, not yours.

As much as I want to agree, I can't see Chris doing any of that. His status as a victim is a big part of his persona, as is the hostility and (probably) self-loathing. Of course, we haven't seen desperate Chris yet, who knows.

He is still putting out "The Works", with frame and all.

Fatty has money.

But he's bitchy because he can't spend that money on his toys. So he wants folks to give him more so he can have both.

Fiscal Responsibility is a not just a word he can't pronounce.
