It was put together by community volunteers, reviewed by other community volunteers, and agreed to by community leaders.
>community leaders
This has bothered me for quite some time. I thought the FGC was kind of like what GamerGate was in that there is no "leaders" and that everyone governs themselves. When the fuck did they start giving individual people authoritarian power to do shit like this?
It applies to all the players, tournament organizers, staff, streamers, commentators, posters, chatters, and so on who attend, run, or use the tournaments, Discord servers, and other community gathering places that have signed on to enforce it.
>tournament organizers
So is it safe to assume that companies like Capcom, who host their Capcom Cup Tournaments, are also abiding and applying these rules? If so, then this company is so fucked beyond help (as if the ransomware leaks didn't already prove that).
>posters, chatters
Da fuk does THAT mean? People who comment on things they like but have nothing to do with the FGC will still be scrutinized under the same rules? Holy shit normies are fucked if they say even one thing remotely "out of line". At that point NO ONE will want to play fighting games except the people that are already into them. So play GateKeeper/BodyGuards just in case some outsider dares to actually have fun... fucking lame.
>Discord servers
Just one more reason why Discord is cancer and should never be used.
In the wake of so many recent examples of abuse, bigotry, and other bad actions in our scene, we must recognize that we have not done enough to keep our community members safe.
First of all, thots crying about being hit-on at a place thats like 99.9% a sausage fest does NOT count as any of those things. Trannies can get fucked as well because they are ALWAYS bitching/moaning/complaining about SOMETHING even if it's events they exclusively own and operate (see GDQ). Second, if by "keeping your community members safe" you actually mean "get rid of naughty language" then...
A. Good luck preventing blacks from saying "nigga/nigger" cause they do it all the time.
B. It's adults that participate in tourney events. Adults can say whatever the fuck they want. Words don't hurt, just grow a thicker skin you fucks and stop being so fragile.
Previously, we’ve only relied on individual tournament organizers and professional tours to conduct their own disciplinary actions. Unfortunately, that kind of piecemeal approach not only unfairly places too big a burden on those TOs, it also necessarily ends up in decisions that can come across as dogpiling, that can feel inconsistent, or that are made by people you may not even know. We hope that this code of conduct, created by the community to be enforced quickly and uniformly by a diverse committee of community members, will solve these problems.
Ok I'm getting two different translations from this. Either they are saying...
1. "These TO's aren't doing a good enough job that WE want them to, so WE are just going to strip them of their power and WE will make all the "correct" decisions".
2. "Fuck mob rule, you peasants need to stfu and know your place and respect your TO's"
...or it could be both, idk.
2.1. INCLUSIVITY. This Code of Conduct is intended to make the FGC a safe experience characterized by Inclusivity in which everyone feels welcomed regardless of race, color, ethnicity, nationality, sex, sexual or romantic orientation, gender identity, religion, disability, neurodiversity, body size, pregnancy or maternity, citizenship, or any other personal characteristics.
>sexual or romantic orientation
>gender identity
You already added "sex" before those two lines. This is just fucking redundant and unnecessary.
>neurodiversity
>body size
lol fat
>pregnancy or maternity
Oh come the fuck on!! How often does this shit REALLY happen that you need a fucking rule about this specifically?!?!
>citizenship
Aren't a lot of top tier tourney players from Asia? Don't a lot of people have respect for said Asian players? Why the fuck would it matter what their citizenship is?
2.2. INTEGRITY. This Code of Conduct is intended to maintain and build integrity in the FGC through consistent and diverse leadership, fair tournament operations, and equitable Signatory Spaces.
>fair tournament operations
2.3. AUTHENTICITY. This Code of Conduct is intended to pursue the above goals of Inclusivity and Integrity while preserving Authenticity in the FGC’s unique feel, exciting fun, trash-talking spirit, and dedication to competition.
These fuckers have no self-awareness, do they? By telling people what to say, how to say it, when they can say it, etc... you are effectively taking away the "trash-talking spirit" (or at least what little was left of it) from the FGC. With all these asinine rules that practically invite special snowflakes to take control of the asylum, even something as mundane as "lol you're bad/you suck" will trigger the fuck out of them.
Also fuck you... you don't get to decide what is considered "fun" or "exciting", those are completely opinionated feelings that are unique and different to everyone. To me, these rules don't make playing fighting games fun... they make me want to stay the fuck away from them like the plague.
3.1.3. Engaging in malicious bullying, baiting, trolling, or other verbal harassment or abuse that rises to a level beyond commonly accepted FGC trash talking.
1. You're already minimizing what can/can-not be said at these places, and 2. ANYTHING is considered "trolling" in this day and age because that word has been abused so fucking much it's lost all of it's meaning. The participants might as well keep their traps shut and not say anything (or even do anything) at all.
3.1.6. Taking photographs of or recording any other person without either their consent or Signatory authorization.
>Signatory Authorization
lolwut? People need to sign an agreement to take pics of cosplayers now? Just ban cosplayers then (hell even costumes in general), the whole point of them is to stand there and look pretty while getting pics taken of them. If they didn't want that, then they shouldn't dress-up, period.
3.1.8. Intentionally outing any other person’s sexual orientation, gender, or other identity without their consent.
Translation: Don't deadname any trannies.
3.1.9. Creating a nuisance or hazard by neglecting personal hygiene, refusing to take appropriate hygienic or medical precautions, or engaging in or encouraging others to commit any hygienically or medically unsafe behavior.
This one I fully support. Seriously though, niggas need to learn...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the record, I'm not a tourney player... never have been, never will be. If anything I'm a filty casual that loves fighting games. But even I can smell bullshit when it stinks, and this one stinks to the high heavens. The fact that the FGC has cucked this far tells me that there really is no hope for this group at all.
