Still better than most mainstream animated shows made for kids
Even the reboots are more well received than the SpindleHorse shows.
On the animation department mostly i think. Most western cartoons aren't all that well animated or have meh art styles
Yeah it’s only because “not CalArts”. Most people agree it’s not a good artstyle so much as it is different from anything. Even disregarding art styles, the actual topic of animation is still debatable.

My only hang up is on some of the color choices and actual design bits otherwise the style is fine? A bit of a acquired taste to some.
If you have a natural dislike of sharp looking styles with bold black lines , Hazbin and Helluva will be a turn off

My gripe isn't general but specific. I actually really like the palette choices but I feel the colors are often too close to each other, so action ends up confusing. Maybe it looks better on higher end equipment. However, I think there should be more variation in color. Obviously Vivs is very fond of red.

I guess. The colors are like the equivalent of good cheese; very strong, a bit eye watering but those who go past it end up liking it.

The Sir Pentious and Cherri Bomb sequence showed that there are turf wars going on in Hell. If Angel hadn’t helped Cherri he wouldn’t have made it on the news and tarnished the hotel’s reputation. Also IIRC Viv intentionally made Sir Pentious akin to an old-timey villain and he was originally going to be one-offed.

What exactly were you expecting Alastor to do? He made the basis of his character known and demonstrated his powers.
To ad to this point: I think the Cherri sequence does lay a lot of the groundwork for a couple plot points that will likely be explored in future episodes.

Cherri kicking Pentious out of her territory also expands a little on the Might Makes Right style pecking order that seems to be going on, considering she‘s a big enough deal to even have territory but still needs to physically defend it - compared to people like Valentino and the other major war lord figures who waited out the annual cleansing in a fortified bunker. Same goes for the scene with Alastor & Pentious since I think that quickly established that while turf wars and other leaders will definitely be a problem, the physical location of the hotel isn’t being contested (as long as Alastair is there, at least) so it works to explain why no one will be gunning for it going forward.

And then Angel joining the fray to help her does a lot to establish their dynamic: They’re probably the friendliest pair in the episode second only to Charlie and Vaggie with how they have a friendly rapport and banter, are shown to be constantly helping each other throughout the brawl, Angel gives her his aid willingly and without any strings attached and in fact helping her at all is a potential loss on his part since he knows it might cost him his room & board (which is makes the news scene doubly ironic since in the scene right before the reporter was saying Angel’s cooperation means nothing because his loyalty can be bought, so he was kinda right when he calls it a "redeeming quality" of his - it just wasn’t in a way that actually helped the hotel), Cherri even asks him if he’ll get in trouble with the hotel that indicates she’s aware he’s sticking his neck out for her, and though we don’t actually see the aftermath it’s safe to assume they parted on good terms. There’s also a notable contrast in how their respective vices operate shown (though touched upon more in Addict) as while Angel seems to be fueled by self-sabotaging tendencies and poor impulse control, Cherri’s appears more goal-oriented in her mayhem. While neither of them are great individual, they don’t actively make each other worse as a duo.

Overall, it establishes a dynamic where, while their friendship will likely be a source of conflict (especially since Angel’s last scene with Charlie indicates he is starting to care about her on some level, even if it’s not friendship yet) the dynamic itself won’t be a toxic one. Based on what’s been shown, I’m willing to bet Cherri will probably be the revolving door resident of the hotel at some point where she’s drawn in because of Angel’s presence but can’t/won’t fully commit until she either completes whatever unfinished business she has; or more likely when she learns to let go of it.

I do gotta commend the team at least. In their enthusiasm and ambition they managed to cram a lot of information into 30 minutes. Probably too much for one pilot honestly.

It's really good actually. Also Angel Dust obviously actually really likes Cherrie even though he is a huge faggot. She is also obviously crushing on him huge.

Ok info from the Hunicast (haven't listened to it all yet) they stated that they weren't doing voice requests for Hazbin right now because the list of "not to do's" is so long it's easier to just not take those requests, which means the studio is still behind the project and work is ongoing it's just that while work is ongoing not much is going to be heard about it until it's close to release.

This doesn’t sound like good news.

I mean... In the original webcomic they were an item. I think vivzie only made him a flaming homo because most depictions of gays in western animation are on par with sitcoms. all they do is kiss on the cheek and talk like a pair of flirty school girls. Vivzie made angel a full on hypergamimouys slut, if she wasn't making the show for YouTube or now Netflix apparently, im sure she's have the animators make full on porn of him
