Here's your controller, bro - Post bad controllers, either in design or maintenance

That Terry Crews one is magnificent, fuck you.

Here's a terrible controller for you guys.

This thing is such a piece of shit, the body is way too fat, the dpad is god-awful and the assymmetrical analogue stick placement makes no fucking sense at all. The buttons are too round and the battery pack always feels obtrusive.

That's because you have tiny, childlike hands.

One of my favorite controllers only for the fact that if you wrap your hands around it like I do, you end up giving two thumbs up. The d-pad was pretty sad and not good for playing fighting games with though, and the analog stick felt kind of weird. I love this controller a lot, but even I have to admit that it wasn't the best design.

Dreamcast control used to give my fingers blisters from playing Marvel vs Capcom 2 for too long.

I like the Jigglypuff game cube controller. Its cute although it also looks like an eldritch abomination if you didn't know what it was.

Holy shit, the SpaceOrb :story:
I own the grandson of that thing!
It's completely useless for gaming (not including Elite: Dangerous since it's actually really useful for landing the ship), but if you work in CAD or 3D design then it's fucking boss.

Fucking spot on.

Also, there has never been a better controller designed than the Official Sony PS2 controller.

It's the best part of emulating games on the PC, the D-pad is the best out there, and it just feels perfect in my hand. I really hated that they ruined the design after PS3. I really fucking hate the L2 and R2 "triggers" instead of actual fucking buttons, also WTF is this monstrosity known as the PS4 controller

What the FUCK even is that shit in the middle? Is that some sort of gayass touch screen shit? Also, what's with this shit on modern consoles having a seperate fucking speaker in the controller.

I remember getting this controller growing up. Can't remember if it was any good. Its weird though.

I came here to post this fucking travesty. I remember being being really intrigued by it as a kid, but then totally baffled trying to use it. What sort of acid-riddled idea was that.

Yeah, it's a touch screen. I don't know of many games which properly utilize it.

If you want weird touchscreens, though, the PS Vita also has a touch screen--on the back instead of the screen itself.

The nice thing about the back touch screen is that you could use touch controls without taking a hand off the button.

I have used and owned almost every major Western (and a lot of Eastern) HOTAS (Hands On Throttle And Stick) controllers from the late 90s to now. Most are fine, CH's fighter/flight system hasn't changed since 1997 and honestly it doesn't really need it, while it isn't as precise as the modern set ups it still works, I had one from 1998 until 2014 and it worked the whole time, I even sold it for $200 when I was done with it. It cost me $300 brand new. You cannot beat that.

Now the Russians run the high end of the market and I'm thrilled with it, my Virpil mongoose system is great, easily the best hardware I have ever touched for home sim shit, even if the software is a bit shitty to learn. But in my hands I cannot say I've felt anything that's more comfortable and sturdy that wasn't actually in the aircraft.

But man, there's a modern system that I was a beta tester on not very long ago that is the hugest fucking piece of shit they've ever had the balls to charge $400 for brand new

The Madcats' X-55 Rhino was a disgrace. Creaky plastic fittings, bad sensors, areas where it would randomly not pick up movement, bad buttons that sometimes won't register presses, a throttle that grabs strong in some places and slides loose like Madonna's cunt after an NBA game. The swivel movement can't be locked out and the internal construction was just deplorable in every way, shape and form. There is no way that any kind of QC were being done on these things until the company died and got picked up by Logitech, who have been trying to remanufacture them in some manner that makes them acceptable, which they kind of have done witht he X-56, but not in a way that makes them better than the Thrustmaster and VKB products in the same price range.

The speaker on the controller is nice as you can plug headphones into it, and while I love the ps2 the controllers are too lightweight and the buttons get sticky. The duelshock 4 has some real nice weight too.
I've yet to have the sticky buttons problem, but I'm pretty good for remembering to eat or wipe my cum off my hands before I go back to playing vidya.

Pretty much the only time I've ever had problems out of a Ps2 controller is when I've thrown and broke it open. (gamecube controllers I must say, tend to take this pretty well, as long as you don't fuck up the analog stick). I think I'd rather coat my PS2 controller in lead for 'weight' before I lowered myself to using a Ps4 controller.

When Sony put a touchpad on their controller I thought it would have been awesome if Microsoft made the Xbox-button a trackball for the Xbone.

That is pretty cool, I just looked up the price and $200 isn't outrageous if it works well.

A friend of mine had a Cyberman. His review was "it's okay for Descent", he mostly used it for CAD and things like that but even then it wasn't stellar. It seems strange now but three button mice were not common, and largely unnecessary for most users, but some software like CAD and 3D became hamstrung with a two button mouse, especially if the primary platform for the software was SGI workstations where three button mice were standard.

There was also the Novint Falcon, it didn't find much use but the proposed use was certainly intriguing.

A doctor might evaluate and palpate a virtual polyp from an MRI and detect colon cancer without an invasive and unpleasant colonoscopy.

I'm not sure if that ever came to fruition and maybe that's why they stuck a gun on it.

I remember the Falcon. The creators had a contest to prove it was just as good as a mouse by hosting a few 1v1 TF2 matches. Anyone who beat them with a mouse got a free Falcoln. I guess it might've been as good as a mouse, but the devs were awful at TF2. A friend of mine at the time used to play special 1v1 servers in TF2 all the time and so he won a Falcoln handily. Dunno what he did with it, I think he sold it since I've never heard him using it.

I don't know what happened to these things. However, for a while, it was the de facto controller of choice for VR.

I have never used one but it looked like it did what it was meant to do pretty well but it also seems to be a solution to a non-existing problem. Sometimes that works out, a thing is put out there and it might be a novelty or curiosity until someone figures out what problem it solves, ZBrush had an arc like that.

Did anyone post the Dreamcast fishing game control yet? I always liked the weird, creative stuff Sega did with the Dreamcast. I wish it was more successful, it really was a neat little system. It seemed really ahead of it's time as far as consoles went back when it came out. I remember plugging a phone cord into the back of it and downloading a Christmas themed expansion for Sonic Adventure. It did nothing but add snow and Christmas decorations in the main city but it seemed so advanced to be able to do that back then. There was nothing like that going on for consoles at the time as far as I know.

Any ideas on a good 2D CAD mouse that'll help me draw faster/more efficient when I have to bang out something out from scratch in ACAD, or has all the new development been working on improving 3D mice?

What you posted was pretty interesting. Every once in a while I need to check shit out in 3D and yes it's a struggle zooming in on stuff but I don't use it enough justify a $200 mouse.

This piece of shit right here:

Saved up and bought one brand new for my SNES when I was 10. Paid 18 whole dollars for it too.

Worked for roughly 3 days before it just completely stopped functioning. It had a normal/turbo/autofire switch for each button which was cool. The switch at the bottom was "slow-mo" which was advertised as the ultimate innovation making the toughest games beatable.

Fucking thing was literally just autofire for the pause button. You flip that switch, it hits pause like 3 or 4 times per second. Completely and totally worthless. Especially with the way a lot of games paused.
I use that on my Wii. I find it to be a great controller.

I'd like to get an adapter to use my Saturn pad on my DC but apparently the adapters are very hard to find now. (Inb4 use a usb adapter on your pc in an emulator)

The one time I gave Halo (2 i believe it was) a chance was in the dorm, people were playing splitscreen and they invited me to play a round.

When the last guy lost he passed this to me:
41N9GGQNEEL.jpg

The face buttons are placed on the grips, two on each grip to be used with your middle and ring fingers, while the shoulder buttons and triggers rest under the trigger guard.

Holding, as in actually keeping a stable grip, this while fighting was a nightmare. Worst part was the pain from using your pinkies to keep the controller in your hand.

Wrists too for some reason.

I personally never had a issue when using when i had PS3, but i can understand why other people didn't like using it as much and mostly prefer the 360 controller.

The analogue PlayStation controller is the platonic form of what a controller is and should be. Perfect blend of form and function. You can't improve it because it requires no improvement (see PS4 controller). It's a perfect piece of technology.

Anyone who prefers the Microsoft imitation with it's retarded, lopsided thumsticks is a mouthbreathing sped.

A lot of controllers I had experience was listed here but I want to complain about the BS of the Atari 7800 controller

AT5200-Atari-7800-Controller-large-image.jpg

It looks simple enough especially with the lack of phone buttons like the 5800, Intellivision, or Coleco but the joystick itself is stiff and uncomfortable and the two side buttons cramp your hand. Of course you can use a Genesis or 2600 controller but some 7800 games needs to use the two buttons for different inputs that can't be done on the two controllers.

post-41-0-32805600-1443499913.jpg

The big kicker is that Atari did have another 7800 controller that was way better than the joystick but it was never released in the US.

Also that Sega Master System controller. It seems alright when you look at one but when you play it the gummy buttons and the directional pad isn't that tactile like the NES not to mention lacking a button to pause the system.
