My fuckup, for some reason I mixed up SEGA and Sony. Retard move, thanks for the correction.

It's pretty much common knowledge that the Google storefront is a complete dumpster fire full of broken shit, shovelware and some of the greediest developers known to man.

There are, however, 3 rules that are enforced:
1. The program must run on at least one version of the platform it is released for.
2. It may not contain malware (that Google can detect)
3. If a program is initially released as "free", it may never be changed to "paid" in the future.

1games was a lower-end developer of shitty free adware animal simulator games masquerading as "educational content" under the formula "Life of [Insert species]". They were making enough money doing this to churn out games regularly.

When they managed to snag the PS release, it went to their heads and they decided to slap a price tag on all their shit other than Black Tiger. This led to all of these "games" being removed from the storefront (apparently the dev gets a warning first, so I don't know whether 1games took them down out of spite or Google removed them for noncompliance).

1games took a fat financial hit from this at the time (let's face it, Playstation owners weren't paying for this shit). For some time they released nothing, but then they got funding from somewhere and started to shit out new stuff (what looks like p2w animal/dragon fighting games).

They are also introducing the following type of cash-grab to phone gaming:

Obviously, all the attendant features of the remaster genre seem to be present, according to reviews (buggy as fuck, cut content, shitty controls, etc.)

Just like herpes, 1games just won't go away.

However, its whole development process from the get-go seemed to be full of uncertainty and confusion, with one developer stating the game was "watered down repeatedly" as the original idea to draw on "looter shooters like Tarkov" was seemingly "too hardcore for a wide audience".

This way of thinking in the management bothers me so much. Everyone wants to make the next multi-billion online game, but no one wants to make the next multi-million online game.
"Too hardcore for a wide audience", fucking retards can't you see the fucking market? There are only a couple "wide audience" games that actually survive, the rest of the big multiplayer with a large and consistent playerbase are the niche games doing something unique: Tarkov, Rocket League, Warframe, Rainbow Six, Payday, Path of Exile, Deep Rock, Dead by Daylight, and many others.

But I guess after you spent 100M on development you'd want more than a consistent playerbase of 50k everyday for 5+ years.
 
I’m not gonna lie, every time I think of that goofy sonic cosplayer in his homemade costume, it gets a little chuckle out of me.

This is the worst piece of video game related media I have seen in a very long time. I cannot believe a studio actually tried to build a game around this. I mean, I can, because they did, but goddamn. If this isn't just some kind of high-effort shitpost dunking on CA, then it's strong evidence on why they should not be allowed anywhere near software development going forward.
 
It was just all so lame try hard. If the devs has just toned it down and kept it a cheeky secret that the loot they are raiding that is getting shipped it Mars from Earth is old physical media from the 80/90/00 it would have been fine. It could have even been interesting and set the stage for all the nostalgic drops with the content.

There is so much wrong with it, it's kinda astounding. It's a combination of immaturity, self-aggrandizing and stupidity that I wonder how the writers manages to actually live without a 24/7 tard wrangler. Do I talk about the hate for rich people by corporations and targeting Musk directly? The idea that Mars won't be its own society with downtrodden? Blaming earth being destroyed on the rich who aren't there anymore? Anti police sentiments by people who are only alive due to police keeping them there? Talking about how there is only physical media because digitalisation in a digital only game? The fact the media itself is infinitely copy-able yet it's treated as a resource by everyone? The media itself almost certainly not surviving due to natural wear and tear? Worshipping old media despite its pro police and far whiter and less gayer than modern media? Constant references to media that isn't even Sega related most of the times?

Maybe the simple fact that rich people hobbies is fucking women and cruising rather than watching 40 year old films?

It's basically an entire video warranting this response:

The fact that they have to use clips of different media to fulfill their vision of the game, instead of you know, ACTUALLY CREATING IT THEMSELVES is proof that imagination in the 2020s entertainment industry is dead.

I agree with your point but DbD is it's own insane shit show ran by game devs who make the absolute worst of Sega, EA, Blizzard, Ubisoft seem absolutely on the ball.

I know shitting on your average Soyjak redditor is like beating a dead horse nowadays, but the whole video is a very wet dream from one of those Coomsumers. Not even exaggerating or being nitpicky, the story is all about dying and killing to get the nostalgia product and fighting the typical boogeyman villain that mainstream movies and cartoons love to use. Say what you want about this marketing fiasco, but at least they had a targeted audience on mind.

The response is lukewarm so I really encourage everyone interested in this thread to watch the bitchute video, it's a fucking trip. It will be immediately clear why this turd flopped, and you'll hate Bomb-kampf even more as a director.

The other Total War Saga games were dogshit, no reason for this one to change the pattern.
The Warhammer license and the art direction for Three Kingdoms being amazing absolutely carried Creative Assembly over the last few years. If they didn't have Warhammer in particular Sega probably would've sold or shut them down by now.

Back to the subject of Sega. Hyenas weren't the only late stage project they pulled. They also gutted some unannounced properties quite far ahead in development. These games never reached the beta stage and were not marketed, so they could not have been terminated due to poor public perception.

You need that historical general impulse (mild autism) to understand why people enjoy Total War. Rhe satisfaction of baiting an enemy army into a killzone, or watching their line break piece-by-piece as you flank them is a satisfaction very few other game series can achieve.
