You have to be entertaining live.I have 0 clue why they did not embrace Twitch.
How the fuck does this guy not have a PC?Someone uploaded the stream to YouTube, with the starting soon intro removed.
For anyone who doesn't want to download the file:
I think that if James had his friends like Mike over they could bring more energy. We do gotta remember James is a high functioning autistic so he also needs to be comfortable to be social. You have to be entertaining live.
James is honestly kinda boring without preparation. It was noticeable here:
The worst thing that could happen is that AVGN could get bitter during streams about the criticism. Or unleash constant bad takes. Or go full Egoraptor, meaning that he plays games in such an incompetent, whiney manner that numerous viewers could realize "oh my fucking god, this guy is an actual retard"![]()
The Making of an AVGN episode - Angry Video Game Nerd (AVGN)
James Rolfe has produced hundreds of hours of film and video since childhood, including over 100 video game reviews. With so much experience in quick-turnaro...www.youtube.com
Scripting and editing can be so helpful that when you take that away from people like AVGN, disasters can happen. It's better if they just stay in their safe bubble. Sure, we might get content for this thread, but I don't expect that.
And atleast Channel Awesome had Channel Awesome characters. The AVGN movie shoehorned in a random black guy and interracial romance because James wife complained about Cinemassacre being "a Caucasian sausage fest". So no Mike, Kyle, or Bootsie in the AVGN movie. At least I remembered Kickassia, Suburban Knights, To Boldy Flee and the AT4W movie, as bad as they were. I can't even remember the AVGN movie because it was tortuously boring, that's much worse than a film that's bad. It's really weird to consider that Bimmy would shit on a 1967 obscure horror movie The Vulture, yet somehow made something completely worse.
Mike was the one who was keeping the Cinemassacre Youtube channel alive while James was making the AVGN movie. That's probably why he was only in it as a cameo appearance. We did get Mineycrafta and the Elmo in Grounchland review out of the AVGN movie fiasco so it's not all bad.And atleast Channel Awesome had Channel Awesome characters. Mike Matei has given a lot of gems, especially the two you mentioned, and without Matei, Cinemassacre wouldn't even exist.Mike was the one who was keeping the Cinemassacre Youtube channel alive while James was making the AVGN movie. Was there really a need to hire professional actors in the first place? He should have kept it more internetty and just used his friends and other internet personalities like maybe the Nostalgia Critic. There was no need for the huge budget either especially after seeing how it came out. Could've been like Clerks but for retro game nerds if he kept it low key.A lot of people bring this up and I have to counter that by saying Mike, Kyle and Bootsie are not actors. James isn't an Oscar contender by any stretch but at least you can buy him as the Nerd character. The black kid from the Bernie Mac Show (great show) is just one of the numerous problems of the film.
Ideally what he should have done is have it start with a Nerd review, his friends get a cameo and a line, and then he's introduced to a new set of characters which is mostly what happens except the movie pretends that this black kid was always around.
The idea was to make a real movie. That was his idea. And at the very least it looks like a movie. It just doesn't play out like one.Was there really a need to hire professional actors in the first place? Sir, Bimmy has made over 270 films throughout his career, including the highly esteemed "Six Snix Flix" series. The idea was to make a real movie. That was his idea. And at the very least it looks like a movie. It just doesn't play out like one.
Damn, up until you mentioned that I had no idea the black guy from the AVGN movie was one of the kids from the Bernie Mac show, it also seems like he hasn't gotten much work since the AVGN movie so I wonder if it torpedoed his acting career. Although honestly I'm not sure if the AVGN movie garnered enough attention from anyone to fuck anyone's Hollywood career other than James' odds of directing another feature film. Once you get a reputation for your set being a clusterfuck and being difficult to work with, unless you're on the level of Kubrick, Cameron or Spielberg nobody is going to want to deal with you. Kubrick in particular was very difficult to work with but he was a fucking genius and made good movies so people were willing to audition regardless.A lot of people bring this up and I have to counter that by saying Mike, Kyle and Bootsie are not actors. this got posted in so many cringe threads on /v/ back in the day but it's circled around into actually being based now.
I haven't watched screwattack since grade school or followed Craig whatsoever, but that hits kinda hard. Screwattack wasn't top-tier content or anything, but I enjoyed their top tens and news videos way back in the day. Sad to see someone who had a successful "old-school" YT channel fall like that.Related to Screwattack, but Stuttering Craig now runs a dying channel and in an effort to pump up views, Craig will be interviewing DSP on his podcast. So far, it has not looked so good as he spent last week fighting with Phil detractors and a-logs on Twitter
That's just how it works for child actors. Once you stop being cute and grow pubes they're done with you. Insert Dan Schneider joke here. It can be rough because essentially you have to start your career all over again. But the residuals for the Bernie Mac Show have to be decent? It was a beloved show and fairly popular.Damn, up until you mentioned that I had no idea the black guy from the AVGN movie was one of the kids from the Bernie Mac show, it also seems like he hasn't gotten much work since the AVGN movie so I wonder if it torpedoed his acting career.
