🥝 Community Kiwi Space Station 13 Server (2024 edition) - Space Station 13

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Updates
  • parcel parceux ported (@MAAAD)
  • tasers adjusted to use older sprite and to do enough stun damage to down an unarmored guy in one hit (now 120 agony instead of 100)
    • the goal is to get some kind of viability against guns, since even if the gun doesn't kill you it tends to cripple you
  • security lockers adjusted significantly
    • the mk58 is now standard gear
    • random junk moved from lockers into the vendor or the wardrobe locker
  • armory is only accessible through the blast doors now, hopefully increasing the difficulty of breaking in (may revert tbh will see how it goes)
  • gibber now usable (works on humans without emag) (@HahaYes)
  • roundend jingle fixed? (@MAAAD)
  • department computers added for security and engineering (only them for now)
    • these departments get a random amount of starting money from 2000-3000 space bucks
      • you cannot just withdraw this as cash
      • currently the only way to refill it is to shove money into the computer
    • you can spend department money on 'department' delivery orders
      • anyone in the department can accept delivery of the order
    • the idea is in theory other types of contracts can/will be added to this later so you can use your department cash to get various departments to do things for you
edit:
  • added medical department
    • see commit b42ae033 for how to add a department to this system

Traitors can just blow up a wall with a C4, everyone else is basically cucked out of weapons in times of emergency (imagine nobody joining as Warden/HoS on a Blob round lol). This is probably gonna suck a lot.

Honestly the issue of people spending their own money on new working equipment could've been solved more elegantly with department debit cards like on /vg/. For example, where would you put a Service orders console?
And what about the existing wall-mounted requests consoles, the green ones? Maybe instead of making new consoles you could add a use to those instead?

The card idea isnt crazy but I think anything that should be treated as a 'department' would also have plenty of room for a department console. I think the chef can actually reasonably pay for his own goods, I was thinking of turning the smartfridge into something like the mining brokeromat where the chef can punch in orders and hydroponics delivers it. I was also thinking of giving hydro some tools to provide actual finished goods to the chef, like a juicer that produces properly packaged juice and a mill thing for making packaged flour and so-on. Could give hydro a little shop back there to work with.

All in good time

That's fair enough I suppose. It's good that you have a specific vision for the economy system and stick to it, it's just that we can't really get a full glimpse of it since it's all in your head. If you have some spare time, it'd be appreciated if you could make a crude design doc or smth for us all to take a look at.

Fix Genetics, I'm like the CIA and Super Powers are my aids. I wont rest til all my niggas has it
Are monkeys still broken? I could probably fix that. There also wasn't a surgery to directly extract brains from decapitated heads last week. Until then, I'm porting the defib so cloning isn't the be-all end-all of people dying.

It'd also be nice to give the Chappy more stuff. I'd back-port his ghosthear, so he can hear fragments of nearby ghosts talking. Not that it'll have much of an effect in lowpop.

You should stop doing so, I'm already working on that and it's nearly done
'kay. I wonder if we should have sex change surgery. It's always been funny tabling someone and literally giving them an axe wound with a botany axe. How can we play Ack The Troon without any troons?

>monkeys
Somebody uncommented the code that gave monkeys genes. That's probably the fuckin' problem.

IIRC a good half of the genes are currently commented out as well, could you please handle that as well while you're at it?

Most genes seem to be fine, though monkeys currently mcfucking explode in the scanner on being turned into human. Could be cool for a malfunctioning scanner, but not ordinary operation.

The 'human' species store a lesser form, the current plan is human -> black -> monkey so please respect that if re-adding that functionality

Understood, but is that only one way? Human -> negro -> monkey, but not monkey -> negro -> human? It doesn't make sense regardless with the current gene activation setup (it's entirely binary). It'd need either a different DNA block system or additional states to activated/deactivated. Or just an additional SE block.

It would go both ways (money -> negro -> human, human->negro->monkey)

Also yea guess the dna system would need to change a bit idk havent looked into it yet

I think the simplest way would be to add gene activation/deactivation thresholds. Pass above the activation threshold, gene activates; pass below the deactivation threshold, it deactivates. In the middle, state maintained. Once monkeyfication/niggerification/humanification occurs, the block gets set between the two and needs to be nudged either way again to continue.

EDIT: Now I realize the unfortunate side-effect would be a fucking ping-pong roulette of which evolutionary path you go with the dumbshit radiation pulse mechanics. I could probably work around that by setting the threshold so *all* sub-blocks need to be below a threshold, therefore allowing you to keep one in the middle until you're ready.

Sounds good to me

for 45 minutes

This is an extremely funny idea, though I feel like no one would voluntarily go for this but as it has no benefit. Then again, neither does playing a black character so I don't know.
