Lucas really believes he is plenty smart. He has described himself as a "scientist without a science degree". After all, he did lots of research on telomeres and it was stolen by the evil grey beards. Lucas even used to refer to himself as "Dr. Nigga Luke".

This is just another example of him taking something and completely misunderstanding it. While we see him as a sped and a ragman. Well, he sees himself as a misunderstood genius who also just needs the government to take care of him. But this does not make him any less plenty good. No, sir! It is the responsibility of the government to provide for him.

I don't even like lumping him in with other homeless people half the time. Yeah, a lot of homeless people have issues with mental illness that they can't afford to get treated or have issues with addiction that make the former worse or just make it difficult to impossible for them to get out of that situation usually because they can't afford treatment and the majority of them desperately want to but are trapped in a cycle they can't escape, but Lucas?

Lucas was never in a situation where he didn't have money to get treatment, he's been on government assistance that basically paid for all of his health (mental and otherwise) needs since like 2001.

Lucas had housing and even the state keeping his money in a state to where he couldn't end up homeless due to lack of money.

Lucas' own choices resulted in him being homeless multiple times. Lucas is what conservatives bitch about when they talk about people abusing social welfare systems.

Lucas is a fucking parasite, even when he's given the means and help to get out of the situations his own decisions lead him to he chooses to ignore them or fuck them up on purpose.

Now he's just taking up a place at an assisted living facility that would be better used by someone who actually needs it. The only upside is they take the majority of his government check and make him follow rules like a child and he's miserable t here.

Lucas is one of the few people out there I'd say deserves to be homeless but not included as part of the homeless population because most of them don't deserve where they ended up.

Agreed so much. He's had so many more chances than every homeless person I've known. Lucas does honestly deserve to be homeless and struggle for a while with no safety net. The rare occasions like the LA catfish trip are the only times he's taken his situation seriously due to fear, and showed any impetus to change. But, even if that happens, someone in his family would probably bail him out anyway putting him back in the same stupid situation.

The older you get, the SHORTER your telomeres are. They get shorter every time your cells divide, so they shorten with age. Also, even if he DID have longer than average telomeres, telomeres are extended to a standard length in embryos anyway so it wouldn’t even matter.

Additionally, telomeres serve no function other than to protect genes at the end of the chromosome from getting cut off during cell division. They are never transcribed and do not affect phenotype.
