I found a site http://americanparkour.com/about/ and http://americanparkour.com/getting-started/which explains things, I'm not a lawyer either I just worry for him because he could get into trouble when he could avoid it. It is also his intentions as well, I keep wondering if he is going to use this to recruit people into his army, for the money, or to feed his ego.

I hope this doesn't come across as rude, and if I have I am very sorry.
I don't see how that relates, I was mainly speaking about Massachusetts state law+federal law

I doubt he's doing it for money, if he was then he would definately be charging more. I'm guessing it's mainly for his own ego's sake.

Why does everyone here assume the worst. Have you even seen his parkour. It's tantamount to doing cartwheels and rolls. Who's going to get in trouble for teaching something which isn't even what it's described as.

'Hello officer, this guy is teaching me parkour and it's basically grade school gymnastics. What do I do?'
Well this is the forum where people were basically saying he was going to get raided by a SWAT team for throwing a roll of toilet paper over a guy's bush on his front lawn. Then minutes later they laughed at him for being paranoid when he said he was waiting in his house for police to come knocking.

Is this a charcter or a real guy?
He's real.

Sorry my bad.
It's no big deal, no need to apologize.

Can someone link me to something I can read to get up to date on this guy?

The first video I saw was when someone on Reddit linked to his "Road Trip" video where he was yelling at his mom. That was months ago and was the last video of his I saw, so I'm having some trouble understanding how he got the point where he's running around doing "drive-by" shootings with his BB gun. Just having some trouble filling in the gaps...

Is he basically a slimmer, more paranoid version of CWC that sperges about the Marines instead of Nintendo?

If he is for real and not a troll himself it's fascinating to me that he actually finds people as stupid as he is who follow him around.

Wouldn't this be a case of caveat emptor or "let the buyer decide"? If somebody really wanted to learn from this guy they would ask to see his credentials and maybe ask him to demonstrate some of his moves first. You don't buy a car without taking it for a test drive and you don't join a dojo without at least observing a class.

Then I'd ask him to spar. I'd put my training up against his. See which one of us actually knows something about martial arts and which one of us doesn't.

Are there actual laws stipulating that? (I'm not up to date on my parkour training regulations) I think as long as he's not claiming to teach anything government-regulated like CPR training or a specific martial art, then he's OK; I don't think know of any laws prohibiting people from teaching Gun Kata, for example, because Gun Kata is not a real thing. Same with parkour and "gun safety" seeing as all he owns is airsoft.

I would think the only way he would be held legally liable is if someone got injured, which would be difficult to believe would happen in the conference room of a Holiday Inn. I might be wrong though, I'm not a lawyer, and I'm clearly talking out of my ass here. If someone knows better, please correct me.
I'm WSI certified and certified to coach high school sports, so I kinda know something.
If you teach anything that MAY result in an injury you need certifications in first aid, concussion training is sometimes required depending on what your teaching. The concussion training is usually added to another certification. However, people get away with this all the time. Jace would be fine so long as nobody gets hurt and then finds out he isn't certified. If that happened, it's a good reason for a lawsuit.
Keep in mind I live in CT and these might be state laws but I can't imagine MA is much different.

TL: DR- Jace will probably be fine until someone's bone gets broken, which probably won't happen.

But he's claiming to be a Marine, that's impersonating a solider. Shouldn't that get him in trouble, at least?
Talking out of my ass here:
That's probably a slap on the wrist, since nothing he's teaching is marine related. If he offered a seminar on how to become a marine and what it's like, that would become a problem. If he named his class "official USMC training" then MAYBE impersonating a solder would be an issue, but not as big an issue as conning.

I'm pretty sure Stolen Valo(u)r only covers military decorations and medals. If Jace said he was a decorated marine then that would be a different kettle of fish.

All I could ever see Jace having issues with is people demanding refunds because of false advertising. Jace is so TACTICool he shouldn't have any issues with this career choice.

Just a little update from Jace's twitter.

It looks like operation "Derpy Deagle Defense" is in the planning phase.

Impersonating a Marine or other servicemen isn't illegal until you try to get benefits from it, but Jace has never gone to the VA to get treatment, so his make-believe is completely legal.

The Stolen Valor Act of 2005 was struck down as unconstitutional, and a similarly named act was passed in 2013 to prevent anyone from gaining financial benefits by claiming medals that they were never awarded. Jace doesn't claim to have any medals, not even the National Defense Service Medal (which everyone who graduates from basic training gets) so the law doesn't apply to Jace.

Jace isn't doing anything illegal from pretending to be a Marine, but it doesn't mean it's right. If Jace was promoting his training as a Purple Heart Marine veteran, then he would be doing something illegal.

Just another thought, but would he be breaking any tax rules if he is still claiming welfare, but teaching people for money? And would he have to declare himself a business?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, it just came into my head.

I think you only have to report income earned through self-employment once it exceeds $600 or something, which I doubt he would make from this. Also, people receiving disability benefits can still work jobs and draw checks, so long as their monthly income isn't above a certain amount. Jace once had a job working at Wal Mart, if I'm not mistaken, and it's unlikely he made enough to disqualify himself from his disability even then.

Sorry it's just very different in the UK
