It just sucks that this is how Bob Chandler's gonna be remembered (and, indeed, he is). Not for his accomplishments in engineering, or the fact that the rest of his kids turned out to be pretty fucking successful (Cole I, personally, don't count because his paternity is not confirmed), but that he got trapped off by some old whore and Chris was the result. And Bob's final days were probably spent in abject misery, in a nasty hoarder house, with him having a shitload of regrets.
The only reason nobody believed he could be a rapist back in the day was they also believed he was too weak to overpower a woman.

Someone on here summed this feeling up as Chris always seemed like a PG-13 LOLCOW, and whereas a lot of people featured on here, if it was discovered that they fucked their parent, would just be another Tuesday. Chris always had that buffoonish slow kid aspect, but a slightly broken one where he had extremely bad traits, but not to be this level of selfish and scheming. There was something down home about watching a southern hick special kid tardraging at stupid shit, or trying to mack on.
it's understandable if anybody had this opinion before all this mess, and i don't think you're necessarily naïve to have held it. a lot of people did. it's okay to see the good in people. and usually his competence and courage were not commensurate with his malice, so it was pretty safe to assume he never posed much of a threat unless he was behind the wheel of a car

Barb was emotionally incestuous with Chris, undoubtedly, but I think Chris was the one who somehow justified in his own mind that being physically incestuous was therefore okay and almost certainly initiated sexual contact. Generally when parents are physically molesting a child, it starts at a very young age, and it isn't typical for it to be mother-on-son sexual incest. It's definitely not typical for an octogenarian mother to suddenly become horny for her trooned out son, Barb seems like an emotional vampire and that is likely the extent of what she initiated with Chris, albeit stuff like wanting to share a bed with him is weird if not necessarily innately sexual.
In my opinion, that all came from South Park, Family Guy, The Simpsons and The Boondocks. I find it too hard to believe that such a huge Jazz fan/historian like Bob would be regularly using slurs like that casually around Chris. But the dude was born in 1927 so who knows.
I think I felt that way until I got to his rages over the rap contest thing. Even if he didn’t physically cross a line, mentally he did. Then there’s things like shecameforcwc, the Snyder bullshit, and even the deranged executions in the Sonichu comics. He wills suffering on innocent people with a serious and creepy intensity. It comes down to one’s personal definition of “bad person,” but he meets mine.
Old men from the south would definitely casually use the N word in front of kids. It’s how I learned it. It doesn’t make them lowdown or even necessarily racist. They genuinely don’t understand that it’s considered a powerful and evocative word nowadays. The ones who are still alive, anyway.
