Which is more likely? Barb found out her spawn slept with a prostitute and offered to sleep with him? Or Chris is making up all kinds of shit because it’s slowly dawning on him that he’s actually in trouble and his go-to is always to blame someone, anyone, else? I don’t believe Chris.

Chris reminds me a little of Benjy from "The Sound and the Fury". He is just incapable of perceiving anything outside of the "Now". It's not the hospital's job to stop people believing in wacky things, unless someone commits themselves voluntarily for whatever reason with that aim. Otherwise they're there to stop folks from being a threat to others or themselves, or in Chris's case fix him so he's competent enough to behave in court or whatever.

I have heard that some guards will arrange for solitarily-confined people or individuals in the nonce wing of prison to let genpop inmates beat up said prisoner while they look the other way...it depends on what prison you are at, but many guards can be corrupt and I am sure that they would not be thrilled to mind somebody like Chris.
