or also known as a "reverse stretch".The K vs normal MP5 differences only matter for handguards and stocks/braces. The K and fullsize MP5 patterns use different buttplate geometry. There are a few MP5K clone manufacturers like POF (the Pakistanis) that make a mullet gun, short in the front, full size in the rear.
these were primarily MP and SP weapons, and sometimes retained by air crews or brown water units as a backup when 1911's was still a general issue weapon. no mags, moon clips, and depending on model you can use police issue .38 (the M10 and M15), military .45 ACP (with moon clips, not common but these did exist as the M1917 was used through Vietnam and still had a place in extremely limited roles), and the "new" 9x19mm (again with moon clips). in the 30's up through to the 80's an MP that didn't have a 1911 probably had a revolver of some type, and since the 1911 was still issued regularly and MP's were typically rear echelon, the MP's got leftovers mostly (stateside base guards, standing watch at a pier or warehouse or airfield, et c) except those that were overseas in an active combat zone.As far as i know the DOD still retains these guns. The paper trail can be followed to October 2022 in the US Navy and april 2023 in the US army. the trail runs cold in the USMC in 1989.
