Minecraft

I've tried playing through GTCEu last year and I ended stalling at HV, because I couldn't figure out a good way to generate enough electricity to keep everything up and running, and then also get into oil extraction and processing. Funnily enough it's the same reason I never really got into Factorio, because at some point whatever I was doing fails, my factory can't keep because it doesn't have enough resources to keep expanding, and I've built myself into a corner where I'd have to redesign everything to scale it up.

I reach that part where the meta becomes king, but I don't know the meta so I fail. Are there any guides on GregTech to help out a retard like me learn the ropes of scaling shit up and scaling it well? Shit was easy with IC2 where you'd just do a biomass generator or just hoard lava from the Nether, but this is unknown territory for me. If anyone knows good knowledge resources like that on Factorio too please also let me know about those.

Only thing that bugs me is the roofs of the towers, looks odd to me. Otherwise, nicely done. Wish I could build decently in a game mostly meant for building. Might hunker down and actually learn to not be a sniveling numbnut one day.
Well let me give you a couple of tips that I learnt from building
1. Like with looking up the FAQ there is no shame from taking inspiration from other people
Typically If I like the look of a build, I'll copy the basic shape and add my own designs. even if it is as simple as adding a trim to a wall or an extra room on a building
2. Get a creative building world
You have access to (almost) every block in the game in creative, get a flatworld and start building even if it is as simple as a square tower

That house in the bottom left corner of the image is a copy of the 1st ever survival house I built in Minecraft beta 1.3
3. Limit your block pallet
Doing this will give your builds more consistency, stick with a max of 5-6 for each build but there can be exceptions if done right. Just don't let it get too busy
2024-03-14_17.49.23.png

as you can see with the wall I have limited myself to a handful of blocktypes with the wall
>Stone Bricks
>Deepslate (and its variants)
>Basalt
>Dark oak wood
>a small amount of Polished andesite
The carpet on the wood roof is to stop mobs from spawning, not really much of a sensible place to put lighting up there
4. Avoid blockvomit
When I said avoid it looking too busy, this is what I meant. Builds that utilize blockvomit look alright from a distance but up close look horrible. and typically uses blocks that seem to have no sense being in that type of build. Like putting dead coral and grey wool into a stone wall build. This seems to be a type of building style only found after the 1.0 release

Youtuber _gerg made a short shitting on people who do this https://www.youtube.com/shorts/fppfuFNg54c
lotta copeium posts in response

5. Every block has its place
This is more of a alpha/beta version mentality. When the types of blocks were more limited back in the day it was generally understood amongst the player base that there was only 1-2 uses for each block type (Stone for paths and walls, Wood for houses and floors, ect...). Quite obvious to see in screenshots of old builds
classic era.jpg
X from X's adventures in Minecraft once complained that sandstone of all things started to infringe on this principle despite it being tame by todays standards.
6. Scaffolding is your friend
Scaffolding is cheap and easy to make 6 bamboo and 1 string for one of the best blocks in the game. A ladder that can be placed anywhere and is an amazing tool to assist in building things. Use as much as you can its a godsend imo

Happy building

Super fun bug in the official Minecraft launcher right now that can delete your local worlds. Take care to back them up just in case!

The official launcher is fucking awful, but I'm sure that's already been complained about to death. I have a small home server that I just create worlds on and host locally, that way I can play across devices with minimal issue.

I use polymc to actually launch MC on my computer/steam deck though.

Personally I'm not touching any MultiMC forks after the PolyMC/Prism Launcher debacle. The team behing PolyMC was full of genderspecials, LennyMcLennington made then run off to make Prism Launcher where they doubled down on being fags so I don't fucking trust them, and PolyMC is dead because all the people that worked on it ran off to Prism.

Right now I'm using ATLauncher since it doesn't go out of it's way to force that shit down your throat despite having the same trannyfesto as their CoC, and it's the smoothest launcher when it comes to mods. The only reason MultiMC forks popped up was because MultiMC had lacking modpack support, and ATLauncher beats MultiMC and all it's forks in that regard.

Yes, it's bulkier, yes it takes a second to load, but man is it comfy to use for mods, all seamless and easy to use. IMO it's a good compromise, especially if you're not gonna touch PolyMC/Prism with a ten foot pole.

I tried recently running newest version of Minecraft to try out some shaders to test new hardware. Maybe this is the first time I ever noticed it or never played on newer version before but the new music tracks added into the game are just awful and it looks like a common sentiment given the amount of threads on plebbit and other sites are made asking how to get rid of it and why there isn't a third C418 album in the game (it's because Microsoft wants artists to sell their souls to them so its all 'Microsoft music library' & didn't want to pay royalties for a guy who essentially created the audiotory spirit of the game).

Once genuinely a fun sandbox game that stood out now it's nothing more than a franchise plastered on merch that kids will happily eat it up because it reads Minecraft. The spinoffs weren't that particularly great:
- Minecraft "Story Mode" first part may been good but I felt like it was within 'it's bad so it's funny' while the second one is just awful
- Minecraft Dungeons plays like babies' first diablo which would be fine for a decent family game to play if it wasn't shallow
- Minecraft Legends died after a month within a release and I haven't heard of this game ever since
- Minecraft Earth was a miscarriage and died to COVID/ramp-down of Pokemon GO hype (officially) or some other internal reason they didn't want to speak about publicly (which is more likely)

New minecraft feels like a spinoff to itself too, as new features are so minimal I couldn't see anyone giving a shit if they exist or not, only contributing to the overall bloat. I remember being excited for copper as maybe that would allow it for tools that would sit between stone and iron, or something that would introduce automation tools to be used with redstone. But all it ended up being for niche tools or just base for some mods to reuse and give it some purpose.

Just like the trannies that run creative departments of the studios, nu-Minecraft is a ghoul with a makeup masquerading as something it never can become. However I saw recently video that people still play beta so that may give me some hope that newer generations may try out the game at its peak, without the unnecessary bloat and key jingling additions.

PolyMC is kinda being worked on. Plus it now has piracy support.

Huh, that's neat. Not that it matters for me since I suck nigger dicks and actually paid Microshaft for Minecrap.

Still, I don't trust PolyMC because Java is a fucking mess when it comes to security, as the CurseForge fiasco and the serialization exploit have shown, they're a target of troons that'll probably look for ways to fuck over PolyMC users with any unpatched exploits and the current PolyMC maintainers probably don't have a good idea of keeping their shit secure.

They could "steal" code from Prism Launcher since lol, GNU GPLv3, suffer troons, but they'd take it as a win, or a declaration of war or whateverand would cause more bullshit. The point is that I do not trust MultiMC forks, because the only two active forks are PolyMC and Prism, one is an undesirable and the other is openly hostile to anyone who doesn't worship The Message™️. I'll stay with ATLauncher.

They're made by a troon. There, mystery solved.

Old news no? Have a friend who knows more about this faggot than most, though I forget if he directly associates with him. Might pull up some screenshots...

Happy building
Thanks for that post, more informative than some of the things I've read about throughout the years. Well, maybe this just clicks with me more, not entirely sure. Very detailed, thank you. Also, that plebbit screenshot...man. Yeah that's all I have to say, just...man.

Could just be me but they just aren't memorable. Could just be nostalgia but there's just no beating C418. Pigstep is dog shit, I like Chrysopoeia but it doesn't feel like a track for Minecraft, same with Rubedo (the RichaadEB cover is league better), and So Below. Sounds like he wanted to make a soundtrack for some indie exploration, probably platformer hybrid that's some pretentious allegory for failing to pay your wife's alimony. Or rather an allegory for the depression and anxiety that comes from ruining your body and health for a predatory, pedophilic ideology given that he did the soundtrack for Celeste. Then we have the CA/CL update and...yeah just listen to Otherside. What in the fuck is that? Ancestry is more ambience than anything, Stand Tall sounds like it took a wrong turn past Breath of the Wild near the beginning. Ain't got much to say about the Jap's tracks since all I remember is "piano." The Wilds Update really removes all pretense of trying to even remotely sounds like something actually from Minecraft. In a vacuum I can find them appealing, when I hear them play in game it's jarring. Anything trannies touch really does turn for the worst eh?

Story mode absolutely was so "so bad it's goodokay", but in a funny way. I watched RTGame play through it and in that context? Made for hilarious streams.

Broteam's LP was the best because Brote kept screeching at the most opportune moments.

Christ, I just saw the newest weapon being introduced to Minecraft, the Mace. Yeah just fall off a few blocks and one hit everything in the game that isn't a boss or Netherite armored player. Even then it's trivial to one hit bosses and max protection players. Combined with the Wind Charge to launch yourself, if you land a hit on something all fall damage is negated. Not even going to mention the Elytra with this weapon. It's incredibly rare, but given how easy it is the dupe stuff each update, all it takes is one and soon you'll have enough to supply an army. While I don't play multiplayer (Forever Alone), I can't wait to see what the fuckers at 2b2t do (at least the ones who test it, as fucking if they'll update the server).

I will give them one singular credit. At least we're out of the "Wow! It's fucking nothing!" reward era.
Pottery Shards? Armour Trims? Why even fucking bother?!

Also those wind charges are sorely needed. It's been fifteen fucking years and only now are we getting some non-endgame vertical movement tools.
It also allows for a bunch of cool shit like remotely opening doors and pressing buttons. Again! Where the fuck has this been for fifteen years?!

Are trial chambers more or less a replacement for dungeons? Dungeons are probably one of the oldest unaltered features of the game so I wouldn't be surprised if that's where this is going.

Well they can't possibly be more at war after Lenny yeeted the trannies.
I spoke with polymc people and to me they're alright.
That said, atlauncher is comfy for normal play, once you have your mods set up there's no need for more. Back in the day I participated in the autism of modding mc, and testing shit on multiple instances was really useful.

seems like it
Dogs are finally getting a update too but the armor is fucked
It now takes a Minimum of 2 hits to kill a dog with armor on regardless of how much damage your swings do
Damage to a dog with armor on destroys durability (64) but leaves the dog undamaged and if you do something that deals more than 64 damage to a dog in one hit (like fall damage for example) the extra damage that would normaly go to the dog itself gets ignored. Sure there are more variants in coats but the dogs (and all mobs in general) Ai is kinda dumb.

This guy who's an actual geologist did a thorough rectal exam on how bad Education Edition is in it's scientific accuracy of chemical compounds.
He should play Gregtech and dissect it's chemistry system, assuming he won't go completely insane before he reaches that point, if he decides to play it right.

Vintage Story has a similar process on manufacturing iron:
>create charcoal by burning wood in a pit
>collect fire clay
>make some brown bricks
>cook the brown bricks in a pit
>make a bloomery and a cheminy
>put iron ore and charcoal in bloomery, then light it on fire
>after 24h, take iron blooms with tongs (cause it burns) then smitt it cube by cube on an anvil to make iron ingot

Dont forget all the earlier steps for creating an anvil, tools, etc.
