Despite swearing never to play Minecraft again let alone modded, I decided to look back into it after my brother got back into the game. Only to discover there's now a modding API called neoforge, the future of Minecraft modding is fucked.
Nice that someone mentioned modding, since I wanted to talk about the new minecraft modding community, and by that I mean the creators that began to pop up after the new wave of updates starting with 1.13. Inspired by this barrage of updates, the new fad in modding is "vanilla style updates", where they basically try to make mods that seem like updates mojang itself would add (or at the very least they try to stylize them to be as "mojang-like" as possible). Perhaps the best representative of this group is Team Abnormals, whose mods follow the same design principles as mojang's updates(including the development time, their end update mod is still stuck on 1.16.5), plus many of their mods are also enhancements of minecraft's base features, like the oceans or the end dimension. They even had an official youtube channel which was made to talk about this type of game design, although it was rebranded to not be specifically linked to the modding team:
https://www.youtube.com/@MinecraftIdeasAcademy/videos Now, given both the autism of this trend and the current face of nujang, unsurprisingly this new wave of modders is pozzed to the max, with trannies especially being a plague. Perhaps the worst example of this is
https://twitter.com/rosecook_, whose twitter is so filled with tranny shit I'm convinced "xe" is one "xemself". There are of course many more examples, especially of non trannies whining about how trannies are treated. I remember when a mod creator named YUNG that makes "YUNG's better xyz" mods that improve base game structures made a xitter thread about how his discord will no longer feature "debates about trans issues" because the word "debate" is a transphobic dog whistle used to question his "trans homies" the right to existence... (he had "debates" in the first place because, as he said himself, they were only about stuff like "what is the age when children should be allowed to undertake HRT") The worst part about all of this however is that I actually really enjoy this modding style; I don't like having things in my game that look completely out of place and ugly, plus admittedly many of these people's mods are full of nice detail and polish, unlike for an example the classic biomes'o plenty, whose biomes I find to be shallow and uninteresting. Of course I also like mods that go far beyond mojang, like Create for an example, but even Create at least makes their textures minecraft like, unlike literally every other tech mod in existence. I was wondering if any of you have a strong opinion on this new modding trend or if you any of you know something interesting about this modding community; Im sure I could get an entire thread's worth of content if I joined their discords, especially minor tranny grooming or "consent accident" drama, but quite frankly I can't really be bother, plus even if I got a thread's worth of content, I doubt I'd get a thread's worth of people who really care about this niche community.
Also, one last thing I wanted to mention is there seems to be some drama involving the Fabric developers being "twansphobic"
I learnd of this from one of those people's twitters where they explained why they quit forge/fabric for quilt (which is a sure way to kill your mod download count lmao, who tf uses quilt). The text in question:
Edit: I read up on the thread a bit and it seems the fabric tranny drama was mentioned already, however I'm not planning to do a full read of the rest 76 or so pages of the thread so can someone give me a quick summary?
