Yeah @Jaimas, gotta concur, I take Usher with a pretty large grain of salt even when he's right about some things these days.

If you read Usher's take on MK11, it is true that it's got some cringey crap, but that's a minor issue compared to the real problem of being loaded down with microtransactions (or at least the potential thereof) and having a poor story, and while it's sales figures are pretty underwhelming for an MK game NOW, they aren't so poor the game sold at a loss at launch, and the core gameplay is actually competent and what people generally paid for.

The biggest problem is that Usher isn't just a sperg lolcow, he's a sperg lolcow with a clear vested interest in making the game look like a failure (otherwise he'd have to face the fact that he looked like an idiot with no real payoff).

Brandon Orselli is also a GG sperg, but at least AFAIK, he's approaching this with a far more even hand.

There's quite a few reasons, however, I'm finding it legitimately hard to believe the claim that it's selling gangbusters, given that several outlets are already selling the game for a discounted price, and simple fact that the claims that it's doing great have no actual numbers to back that up. Not a fucking month and a half ago Bioware declared Anthem was doing well and had Forbes running inteference before announcing that it had fucking Andromeda'd again in April. So you'll need to forgive my saying that unless they can prove it with actual figures, I'm gonna go ahead and hit the doubt button.

What numbers I do have are Steam's (via SteamSpy), which show that the game has sold about 50% of Mortal Kombat X's on that platform. While Steamspy intentionally covers up the data for those who don't back its fucking patreon, this data still goes against the claim that it's doing the best ever. Even if Steamspy's entirely wrong (and I acknowledge it may be), that's still more information than NRS is giving. That also backs the claim that it sold half as well, and while it's still too early to tell, I ain't believing jack and shit until actual sales figures emerge and neither should you.

I been out of the loop with MK as of a whole. I played 9 and X and I thought they were okay. 9 had a really fun story mode and tower mode, but that is what I remember from it. X I barely remember other than "kids" of the fighters, faction wars and a dippy plot. I kind of wanna play the older MK games and see the old school Mokap cheese it had.

Who are you playing as? I can't really give any insightful suggestions without know who you're playing.
Gunslinger isn't really an OP variation. As long as you aren't picking a trash variation, most characters should have a fighting chance against him.

MKX Protip: If you want to win at everything, always, just play Mileena (Piercing).

Use Skarlet, Raiden, Noob, or especially Scorpion (who is easily the most OP character right now), and abuse their teleport moves. Other characters like Kitana and Frost (I think), also have projectile deflect abilities.

I KAN REED GUD. Same idea applies anyway - use teleporters like Scorpion, and Raiden, and deflectors like Kitana to close the gap. Also, if you got any characters that can fire projectiles that keep low to the ground so Erron can't stand his ground for too long.

You can't have Ash played by anyone else... that's as stupid as having anyone else but Robert Englund play Freddy Krueger or having anybody but Doug Bradley play Pinhead. Yes, it's been done, and every time it's been a horrible, stupid idea. This would be no different.
