I get the suspicion, but it doesn't make sense to take the MTX flak twice, if they wanted to get heavy MTX in, they would have done it already, instead this game really doesn't want you to buy anything that isn't DLC characters, the big problem is its horribly balanced game economy + difficulty curve for ToT, because the game legitimately gives you a shitton to do that isn't Krypt or ToT (online is fucking great btw). It's probably the most content-dense fighting game since Injustice 2, which is saying something!Sounds like it’s less a case of the game CURRENTLY being MTX heavy and more a fear that NRS has built this grindy system to encourage people to buy MTXs that’ll get implemented later. Sometime we’ll get online games that manage to prevent themselves from implementing buyable in-game currency like the previously mentioned MHW or many of Nintendo’s online multiplayer games, but other times you get shit like GTAO or SF5. I guess for now we just wait and hope that NRS is allowed to step in and balance the game and WB doesn’t drag its tentacles against the game with its scumminess
I think WB Games are a great publisher at picking games to do (most of their games manage to interest me in terms of content and developer competence), but they are kinda shitty at managing their MTX strategy and PC Ports.
MTX-wise, they're not necessarily as bad as EA, they don't always ty things to basic gameplay, and they managed to listen to the community a bit better than most pubs do (see Shadow of War, and it seems MK11 is going down that path too). Their non-NRS community management needs work tho.
PC Ports are definitely something they need to improve tho, they range from really good (Mordor games, Mad Max) to absolutely horrible (MK X, Arkham Knight, MK11).
