There's an infectious disease, which is actually a retooled version of something that already existed in the series. I don't think it'll be front and center and important to the main story, but there's a couple lines like "I should have masked up" and "There's people who still deny the existence of [disease]".

If its RAGE from MK vs DC, Im going to fucking flip

Also, its funny because we are reaching a point where even Covidians are rolling their eyes and saying "that shit is old" (not old enough as to remove requiring vax on planes because there is nothing more permanent than a temporary gov measure).
Speaking of MK11's story, what now? They have rebooted the timeline twice so what do we do from here?

Like Injustice 2, MK11 has a good and evil ending. As for which one will be canon (since its extremely unlikely they will handle both), will be most likely the good one. Probably will bring Onaga back or something, build on the discarted plots of the S2 of MK comic because the first one didnt sell well (but the plots were already done and they serve for background info like why Goro is dead).

I dont know, its amazing how they took a setting with so many possibilities like MK and just kind of weakened it.

I think the weakness of the series right now is, ironically, its cinematic approach. I before think that MK of old was mostly more akin to comic books, anime and mythology. Cinema is a more restrict way of storytelling, despite it being more fancy.

It's not. It's something more substantial. Multiple prominent characters will be affected by the change.

A return to an early point in the timeline, around the time of the original games. But Liu Kang used the Kronika hourglass thing to edit the timeline, "solving" threats before they arose. So all the characters will have their status quo a bit shuffled, like this character is around but under a different name, or this other character is there but under the mask he's someone else, this other one who was evil is now good, etc. The conflict will come from the unforeseen consequences of the changes; some previously smaller players will have seized the various power vacuums and become larger threats, and so on.

It still baffles me how Scorpion and Sub-Zero never made it into Multiversus before it flo- oh pardon me, I mean ended it's 69th billion alpha test version before it goes full retail or beta next year.

Introducing time fucking travel to this franchise was a catastrophic mistake.

The """""""story""""""" is a complete clusterfuck in the last trilogy. Not to mention, the gameplay is a fucking mess. It's a game you watch, not play. The bone breaking shit is busted and the obsession with air combat is dumb. It was shitty as far back as when they introduced it in the PS2 games.

It would have been best to continue after Armaggedon because its really confusing how MK9's opening has nearly no ties to the Conquest's ending.

Taven wins and gets Blaze's powers but the plan fails and it causes the kombatants to get even stronger, however, he intends to hold off Armaggedon until a new solution can be found, having the power to do so now.

MK9 begins with everyone dead and Kahn winning. Im not saying its impossible but the game doesnt explain it at all. It would have made more sense if it was Taven fighting Kahn at the beginning and THEN he sent the message to the past or something. But like I said, would have been preferable to not have time travel at all.

I recall it was said that Armaggedon's intention was to give all characters one last appearance as a send off and that the next game would likely feature a mostly new cast (Im sure they would keep the main classic ones, like Scorpion and Sub-Zero). But honestly, I feel like MK was doomed into what it is now the moment Midway went Kaput and WB took control.

The new trilogy lacks an identity besides Mk 9 and most of X trying for something nostalgic and MK11 completely going off the rails once it tried something new.

MK 9 does at least have some appeal since it's specifically aimed at the MK1-3 players with all callback stages and character. X was a bore, and 11 is complete nonsense rewriting the entire series and ending with what looks to be a reboot that goes back to MK1. That may be a good move, given the complete shit this nu trilogy has basically been.

And, fucking STAHP with the guest moofie characters already. I don't care about Rambo or the Terminator in MK. That's for the crying Star Wars guy consoomer faggots.

Rate me a tad bit late, but teasing from the MK 30th Anniversary has been out from Boon's Twitter, and recently, the MK YouTube channel's upload of the anniversary's teaser, and thank yous from the NRS team.

I did love the Shao and Sindel shit in the MK11 DLC though.

They wont, but I hope they get rid of or tone down all the mid-gameplay cutscenes like X-rays and shit. I hate how modern fighting games are full of essentially PS1-era FF summon cutscenes mid match.

Literally the worst thing about the new games IMO. WB wanting MK to be like WB IP Smash Bros. Maybe now that they have a Smash clone they'll stop with that. Sadly probably not. I hear and see so many people who are like "YO, LONGTIME SERIES MEGAFAN HERE, I BEEN PLAYIN SINCE MKX, AND MK BE ALL ABOUT THE GUEST CHARACTERS, NIGGA!"

Every guest character, I just think "Oh, that's one less new character or actual MK character."

I loved 9 aside from the ending, 10 focused too much on the bland next gen kids and 11 was basically pointless since they felt the need to do yet another reset. I don't exactly have high hopes for 12, but maybe I'm just jaded and burnt out at this point.

They won't. I can't say who, but I know of already two "I clapped when I saw them" guest characters from TV shows featuring blood and ultraviolence.

I don't even have a guess since I haven't watched TV in close to ten years.

That's how I've always seen in. I've been checked out of the series throughout this last trilogy and I bought X and 11 at massive discounts.

Regardless of how they're perceived, I for one loved the PS2 series. Deception I thought was the best game of the series since MK2. But Armageddon is dogshit.

Can't believe negan from Tekken is a guest character in mortal kombat

If they actually killed off 99% of the cast and came up with new characters and moved the story forward you'd all change your tune real quick because it would be an utter disaster. tbh this High School AU reboot for MK12 sounds like a fairly smart idea.

I mean, the backstory of the most popular character in the original game is that he came back to life after being definitively killed off. Somehow they were hitting the reset button before there was even anything to reset yet and never let up. It's a longstanding tradition.

Needless to say, psyched about the potential Walter White DLC too.

It's like people weren't around in 97 for Street Fighter III and the early 2000's for Deadly Alliance and Deception

Of course, it's a different time now but people are still going to bitch if their favorite characters aren't in it I'm sure, let alone a ton of new characters.

I'd like to speculate that this is a return to classic arcade game play, but it isn't that simple these days.

I'm hoping the story, if there even is one, is at least digestible. The first reboot was a headache of bad decisions.
