Didn't the last one make a bunch of money? They're not going to stop just because evo or /v/ complain.
I was being a sarcastic prick because of the vagueness of it. Of course there was going to be another MK.

Hearing it may be announced at TGA and that there might be some Covid metaphor is pretty good leak/rumor fodder tho.

I don't even know what I would want in a sequel. At least the last one was something new instead of just retreading the old storylines with timeline adjustments.

One thing it needs is a new memorable villain that doesn't just stick around for one game. Shinnok sorta became the root of all the bad guys in the series even though Onaga and Blaze seem to be a much bigger deal and they were just final boss fodder that came and went. Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, Shao Kahn and Shinnok all had their spotlight in the last trilogy. Someone needs to take the reins for awhile because they keep going back to the same well. Although a lot of fighting games do that. Although that's a combination of both the fans wanting that and hitting a creative deadend. King of the Fighters is the only one I can think of that has a new final villain in like 90% of it's titles.

They need to flesh out the newer characters. I wasn't much a fan of them initially but I came to like Cassie Cage. The rest I can take or leave.

There's an infectious disease, which is actually a retooled version of something that already existed in the series. I don't think it'll be front and center and important to the main story, but there's a couple lines like "I should have masked up" and "There's people who still deny the existence of [disease]".

It's not confusing when you see the producers around that game. Having spergouts on Twitter with anyone complaining about the game. They've covered up all the women, added a slavery ending for reasons, and gave Shao Kahn a fucking Trump one liner.

I'm pretty much done with that series when they're so hyper focused on guest characters that it's not even MK anymore. Plus, MK11 was WAY too fucking grindy to unlock stuff. I only buy these things when the DLC is done and I can get it all for $20.
they can never convince me Shao Kahn isn't based
that man took in the spawn of a man he defeated and trained her wrong as a joke while having her and every woman in the realm he conquered dress like his concubines
chad kahn, man, that godly fucker can body any unbuffed character in the entire setting

I agree SK is the best villain the series ever got. I just don't know how many times they can keep recycling him into it.
I kind of feel like Mortal Kombat is completely lost without John Tobias.
Didn't he leave around when Special Forces was being developed or released?

Regardless of how people perceive it. I liked Mythologies even though much of the level design and gameplay was FUBAR. Quan Chi and Shinnok are the last good original villains they've introduced and that's 30 years ago.

Many hate his superhero outfits he designed for the cast in the MK3 trilogy, but I've always loved them. Many were risks, especially maskless Sub-Zero, but I still think he looked pretty cool and it was probably the biggest departure any one character ever had in any fighting game.

I haven't really been committed to the series since the PS2 games. I didn't really give a shit about this latest trilogy. WB is too interested in cramming in as many licensed guest characters as possible while the actual MK cast gets smaller and smaller in each subsequent game.

His MK9 iteration is easily his best, but I think he works better as a looming threat than an active one. He's just too powerful as an active one, as we saw. Quan Chi and Shinnok might be sneaky deakier but they lack the personality. If he's in the new timeline, I hope that's what they go for. Khan's enforcers, Netherrealm being treacherous motherfuckers, and the various other independent parties all fucking with Earthrealm. Only have the Khan come in when shit gets real or he needs to remind everyone why there are so few realms.

After nearly a dozen games, that finally made him a fully fleshed out character in that. My only problem with that is, among most of the characters, was that I didn't like his design in it. I loved it in the flash forwards to Armageddon, but I didn't like his unibrow looking helmet.

He wouldn't change things much IMO.
MK is no longer the brainchild of two nerds with perverse intent and a love of ultraviolence and peak shape specimens. It's a brand that's been overridden with trannies and made by devs with agendas. A proper badass MK cannot be made in our current socio-political climate.

Regardless if you love or hate MK9, it was the last MK game with a proper feel for MK and a decent love letter to the series golden years.
But if you can't even make a game on par with the homage; what chance do you have at making a new entry that stand with or surpasses the former greats?

I want more outfits. I get that they want to be taken seriously and at EVO and shit, but I want the fanservice outfits. Skarlett literally looks like she's wearing a burka most of time. Even do the DOA gimmick where the sexier outfits are unlockable but the default outfits are halal enough for tournament play.

Sad that apparently there's no MK12 reveal at the game awards, but hopefully that means an IJ3 reveal instead. Although I'm not a huge IJ fan, fighting games are in a bit of a lull right now and we need some new content. It doesn't help that NRS, SF6 and Tekken 8 are all slated for a 2023 release. I'd love to play all of them but I don't have the time nor energy to sink into 3 separate fighters at once.

If the concept art I've seen is representative of what they'll be, lol no. They're not as islamic as the 11 designs, but at most there's some cleavage, not much more.

And don't expect IJ3, the current NRS game is MK.

I still can't get over how buckets of blood and gore is less taboo than a femme fatale showing some skin.

High tier sponsors don't like either, so, rhetorically speaking, why can't we have both if we're getting one ad taboo anyway?

I know the answer is trannies and IdPol fartlogic, but I'd really love a satisfying mental-gymnastic reply.

Something something puritan society.
Male sexuality is frowned on yet male violence is encouraged = male dysfunction/dissonance

Oh hey look, a fighting game thread!

The last MK game I played was 9 and I am admittingly kinda nostalgic for it. It's a good game even if the younger me was bummed out by some of my faves dying thanks to Sindel. Feel it should have been something more grand considering how many were taken out.

I'm a bit on the fence of MKX. I liked some of the new characters (Erron, Takeda, Jin, Ferra/Tor and Kotal Khan) and I am upset that a good chunk of them were dropped in MK11

Unpopular opinion but I am one of those people who like Stryker. I don't know why, I just do. I also like Kung Jin. I have no reason for that either.

Speaking of MK11, the story is all over the damn place. I am with the people here saying that I really, really wanted evil Raiden. I didn't care much for the actual villain, Kronika and I am forever bummed that human Scorpion got shafted. It's like motherfucker isn't allowed to develop or have something resembling a good life.

And what is up with the shafting of Kotal? They broke his back and now he's useless. The fuck?? I wish they'd do more with him.

Speaking of MK11's story, what now? They have rebooted the timeline twice so what do we do from here?

I guess the reason why I ask is because, we might be getting some news on MK12 in the coming month.
