No Time to Die 007 - Time to Go Broke

Wait, what the fuck is this about nanomachines? Did they really try to rip off fucking Metal Gear? And they didn't steal the giant robot instead. Fuck this shit.
Its likely that in early versions of the film it was simply a virus that could attack specific DNA types, but then the coof happened and they had to change it.

Funnily enough the 2015 film Man from UNCLE kinda does what you guys are suggesting, its a spy film set in the 60s, it features east and west working together against a greater evil, the movie was a flop but I enjoyed it (but I'm kinda gay for Henry Cavil so take this with a grain of salt)

So the parasites from MGSV or FOXDIE from MGS?

So Gruber of daring fireball fame is a massive Bond fan. He recommended this podcast about the evolution of music in James Bond films. The podcast was interesting, but fuck me the two hosts repeatedly brought up 'toxic masculinity' and 'may representation' where it wasn't pertinent to the discussion. it was just a snide remark to belittle the past. Every time they did I wanted to hunt them down and beat the fuck out of them until all that was left was a fine pulp.

What has happened to the world? How can people like this exist who honestly believe this bullshit? They didn't just pop up fully formed from Zeus' head. I just don't understand how so many people can believe and repeat blatant bullshit.

Better to remain mindful of current trends rather than refusing or even rejecting it.

Our current era of world politics means James Bond is fighting for a dying UK who got ravaged by Coivd and Brexit as they cannot make China their enemy (In fact Brosnan Bond saga avoided making the Chinese Bad Guys and reassure there is no conflict).

But right now China/UK relations are shit thanks to the security Law being passed and HK dissidents who escaped are being targeted by Expats. You think Eon will be able to okay a plot where the Chinese government is paying an assassin to blow up a Free HK rally?

With Craig Bond gone and Hollywood having to be mindful of China as even the actor performing can get it banned from screening, Bond really does feel outdated more than ever.

I've just watched it, and my reaction to the film is somewhat mixed. I liked the score, cinematography, locations, acting, dialogue, and character development, but the ending was too left-field and depressing for my taste, and the villain's motivations made no sense. There were various plot contrivances throughout the film which tested my patience, and even without this, the premise of the movie was a bit too far-fetched by itself.

Now that Craig's era as Bond is over, I'd really like to see a Bond film which focuses upon the actual job of espionage (like the early movies with Connery did), rather than showcase grandiose plots about world domination. The stories can still be gripping without turning the lead into a superhero; arguably, they'd be even more gripping, since they'd be more grounded and believable, like Casino Royale initially promised to be.
The MCU has destroyed movies in more ways than one. Now there's a desperate obsession with canon and continuity and everyone being interconnected, so of course White was behind everything and Bond falls in love with his daughter while battling a foster brother who grew up to become the world's greatest villain.
This is what ruined the Sherlock TV series with Benedict Cumberbatch as well. Like the pre-reboot Bond movies, what made the Sherlock Holmes novels great was that they were episodic: you could read/watch them in any order and enjoy them just the same because none of the stories necessarily directly followed or preceded any of the others. Each one told it's own story, and because each story has an end, the viewer/reader can feel satisfied that there is closure.

By linking everything together, you diminish the enjoyment the audience gets from each installment, because they aren't getting a complete story. It's also a vehicle for lazy writing in my opinion, because the writers can tease the viewers/readers with the idea that something interesting is about to happen in a future installment, without actually having to provide it.

Are you a Chinaman? 🤔

That's the neat part, they don't. The NPC meme from a couple years ago was accurate. A lot of people don't really have "beliefs" or even "thoughts" as you or I might recognize them. They are chameleons in vaguely human form, eyes constantly swiveling to take in their environment and adapt their camouflage to match.

The best one was From Russia With Love. Stealing a Soviet decryption machine sounds like the kind of thing a spy might actually do instead of having to foil Dr Evil's latest plan for world domination. It had the exotic locales, cool car, sexy girl and other stuff you expect from a Bond movie. The fight scene on the train is kino.

The Chinese would make great bad guys if the Bond producers had the balls to piss them off (they don't). Modern China is high tech enough, powerful enough and mysterious enough to be an acceptable stand in for the USSR / Cold War backdrop of the good Bond movies. They have lots of cool toys that would make interesting MacGuffins. Plus - karate.

Apart from that, you have various Islamic shithole countries (too depressing), Russia (the poor man's USSR), North Korea (already done and not a very convincing threat anyway) or yet another mysterious billionaire's ridiculous plan for eeeevil.

And here's a problem. Fleming's novels, although highly imaginative fiction, were at least inspired by his real world experience in WW2, repackaged against then-current Cold War politics. Maybe the real world of spying in Current Year is just too boring for inspiration - are spies even high functioning alcoholics with cool, dry wit and stage four priapism anymore, or are they just fat dweebs who sit in front of a computer all day monitoring Twitter? (:_(

I typically don't care much for fights in older action films, but that train fight's incredible. Sean Connery and Robert Shaw sold that fight and convinced me they were genuinely trying to kill each other. It was brutal, desperate, and no holds barred, and the tension of their conversation prior to the fight is amazing.
I think Goldfinger is the most iconic Bond film, but I like From Russia With Love better. It's pure Cold war espionage, and it's a great blend of a grounded story (not to mention gadgets) with the exoticism everyone loves about Bond.

Its less go broke and more Chinese spending money on local films to make Bond Choke. They

British Expat to put it bluntly

As for the npc comment, remember we live in a surveillance state now. Having beliefs is a good way to be detained, ostracized or arrested and kill pending on the comment.

I saw it recently and i thought it was pretty good, though im no where near a film buff. A couple things i want to point out though, when the villian guy Safin has the kid and bites Safin. He just sets him down and lets him go? You go through all of effort for him just to bite you and let him go? Second, what was room with the acid and all of those lights? How do you make nanobots out of acid and light? Also those missiles were pretty wacky.

kek

Not surprised by this, even though I just saw this today:

I mean you can pry defeat from the jaws of victory in one of a million idfferent ways, but the overall point was the third grossing movie of the year globally and the fact that the original poster has the mannerisms and tendencies of a homosexual.

my cope here is that sure it may have lost money but it still grossed more at the box office than any Marvel movie this year basically putting an end to the whole "da pandemic is lowering box office scores otherwise the eternals would have made a gazillion dollars" I'll take my puzzle pieces and top hats now.

This also kinda shows that maybe the reason your precious marvel movies made less money is due to a lack of interest in them as of late lol.

And before you bring up No Way Home...I'm sure that one will make money because it's Spiderman.

You have the mannerisms of a soy drinking cumsomer so you are one to call me a homosexual.

Settle down shitdick I'm just havin' a laugh. I just thought it was funny you were so confident in (((them))) scaring off white moviegoers to post this only to act like you didn't really even care when it became the Wests highest grossing movie.
