Been checking the state of the game myself for nearly a decade after I quit (mainly from checking new song uploads) and I've noticed ever since Jagex kept getting passed around to random investment firms like a piece of meat, the volume and quality of updates has tanked hard, while the subscription price keeps going up and up, and old talent keeps leaving.

The OSRS poll system is also completely flawed and should be scrapped, since they already push updates without polling (equipment nerfs, gay pride twice, etc.) that would be unpopular with the players voting, and I remember a few months ago, they tried to poll rewards for a PvP arena, and every single one failed despite them trying to put a requirement so only pk'ers could vote, because they thought non-pk'ers were the ones mass downvoting everything.

Its fun just watching a game I used to love when I was younger slowly burn in a flaming car-wreck thats been going on for years, just like watching the state of Blizzard
At least it will never get Blizzard Office bad 🌈🌈🌈???

I'm proud of the autistics for still defying pride. Semper fi you puzzle piece bastards.

This happened a month ago but he was 100% serious and it was hilarious

I always think it's funny whenever some retard on reddit writes a highly detailed 1000+ word essay about some retarded thing they think should happen. Even better when it gets no attention beyond 12 upvotes and 4 comments. There's one literally every other day at a minimum, and nobody ever even acknowledges that it happens so often, they just ignore it like you would a hobo on a corner and don't ever mention all that wasted energy on high-effort posts.

Decided to summarize the past drama surrounding A Friend since I miss the good old days. Might do more.

A Friend – Deadbeat Father, Former P-Mod, Loli Porn Enjoyer, Lithuanian Draft Dodger

A Friend / EraserGaming / afriendRS / Pagalba 02 / NoHonor Pker / A Friend 2 / Solo osrs / white cat22 / cat white22 / not p2w / Dovyduks / Doviz77 / Powername: Dovydas Macys Twitter, YouTube, Twitch, Reddit is a Lithuanian Runescape player (both games, but mainly OSRS) most famous for YouTube videos going over loot or rewards from doing 10 hours of a boss or activity. He is also notable for his Ironman progress series, and having an account in which his only mode of progression was paying for micro-transactions in RS3. He is a very popular Runescape personality. He plays Runescape anywhere from 7 to 16 hours per day.

Draft Dodging:

On Jun 9th, 2015 Dovydas uploaded a video saying that received a letter from the Lithuanian government which required him to join the military (this was due to the other Russia vs Ukraine conflict during that time). He planned on moving to Poland to avoid conscription.

Three days later on June 11th, he uploaded a video saying that he went to the Lithuanian migration authorities and changed his country of residence to Latvia. However, he never moved out of Lithuania during this time. He posted this (a) (English translation (a)) article in the comments.

Notably, another Runescape personality, NightmareRH who was at the time, an active duty US marine made a slightly out of character response video supporting Dovydas (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdBsnucIcJ8)

Losing P-Mod:
In 2013, Dovydas was granted P-Mod status during a visit to Jagex HQ with 9 other Runescape personalities. Video on becoming a P-Mod.

In September of 2015 he uploaded a (now private) video titled “Top 10 Phished Loot” which was showing off items obtained from hacked accounts in Runescape. In the video, he made a comment that basically said that he doesn’t want to disrupt the phisher’s “business.” It came across in a way that sounded like he was supporting account hijackers.

On September 14th, 2015 his P-Mod status was revoked for the video. Video response. Response on Reddit (a). Jagex’s notification (a). Reddit discussion (a).

The Loli Porn Torrent:
On October 11th, 2016, in a relatively innocuous video of him trying to get a Dragon Warhammer drop, he accidentally showed his downloads folder for literally 1 frame. Some autist noticed this, and proceeded to spam his YouTube comments with this imgur album (a). It turns out that he downloaded a Japanese loli porn movie.

He then uploaded a very bizarre video (a) titled “I accidentaly showed my folder” where he explains his deviant porn-consumption habits. This eventually became the 2nd most viewed video on his channel. Occasionally he sets the video to private (my theory is that he does this to help attract sponsors), so it is archived here:

Temp Bans:
On May 6th, 2017 he released a video where he showcased a duplication glitch in RS3. He released this video after the glitch was patched, and did not profit from it. Jagex issued a bug abuse ban, but shortly reinstated the account.

On June 3rd, 2017 he made a video showcasing an unofficial “HD” client that was meant to “update” the graphics in OSRS to as they appeared circa 2008. Using this client set off Jagex’s anti-bot detection, and his account was temporarily banned.

The 2018 Ban:
On August 22nd, 2018, Dovydas uploaded a (now deleted) video that was sponsored by an extremely shady crypto gambling webiste. The following day, Jagex permanently banned him across all of his Runescape accounts. Official Jagex statement (a). Dovydas’s response. Around this time, Jagex was (and still is) in hot water with the UK gambling authorities over the state of micro-transactions in RS3. My speculation is that Dovydas was banned to help Jagex save face.

There was huge community backlash against him for the gambling sponsor. His videos over the next few months were mass-disliked.

He went off the rails a little bit
afriendshitposts.png

Joon The King video summarizing Dovydas’s history up until this ban (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnjnNII9NwQ)
Dovydas reacted to this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XxVjP6JXNI) He refuses to talk about the gambling sponsor.

The Netherlands Saga & Breakdown:
Sometime in May of 2018 Dovydas moved permanently to the Netherlands in order to move in with his long-distance girlfriend of 7 months (He currently lives there to this day). Her name is Zohra (Twitter archive). Sidenote – I remember her having a different twitter account. I can’t find it, but she never really posted anything interesting after they broke up.

During the time he lived with Zohra, they had some serious relationship issues. This was aired publicly during a now famous ~3 hour long stream in early 2019. This was relatively fresh off the gambling sponsor drama, and while Zohra was 8 months pregnant. 10 minute highlight video.

Highlights include:
- He accuses her of cheating
- She says “I only held someone’s dick.” It is unclear if this happened while she was pregnant.
- She accuses him of having sex with prostitutes. He admits that he did.
- Lots of crying and verbal fighting
- She begs him to end the stream
- Dovydas’s mother calls him and tells him to end the stream
- Police were called and arrive on stream
- Dovydas revealed that Zohra had lied about taking the pill in order to have a child with him.

Meme video by popular Runescape PKer Torvesta (a)

Shortly before this stream they had broken up. She moved out soon after, and he’s not involved in his child’s life.

Sometime after, he gets drunk and streams again. He has a mental breakdown, admits to jerking off to traps and says nigger. More highlights.

Dovydas Today:
These days, he’s pretty much drama-free. He still plays a ridiculous amount of hours per day despite now being a 32 year old man who has a child. In some of his newer videos, he will occasionally comment that he’s recording at 4 in the morning or some ungodly hour. He now struggles to pull the same kind of viewership he had years ago.

Remember Mod Jed the Jagex mod that allegedly stole coins from players and leaked ips to RoT so they could win deadman mode, and then got his employment terminated as a result? Well turns out he took it all to court in the UK, and won.

Reddit post
Archive
He only won some back pay, he also tried to have his job reinstated and the judge said no. Jagex in its rage fired him a bit too hastily and without due process, but the judge acknowledges the outcome would have been Jed getting fired even if they had done everything by the book, hence the no job reinstatement.

For those wondering what Jed did, the tl;dr is he would first go on an alt at the duel arena, offering really huge stakes (billions of gold), and take down the names of players who actually put up that much money, then decline the stake, and go into the Jagex account recovery backend, impersonating other employees (which according to Mat K, who was Jed's boss at the time, led to at least one person being fired that Jed was impersonating) to recover those accounts. He would then loot their banks, RWT the gold, and drop their untradeables on the floor so they lost those too. It is also alleged, although Mat K says he never saw any proof of this, by certain PK clans that Jed would also leak user IP addresses to RoT so they could DDOS their opponents. He also tipped RoT off about a hidden mechanic in the Revenant Caves which allegedly helped RoT make a lot of profit before everyone else learned about it.

According to this gold selling website he could have rwted some 100b a month, no confirmed first hand sources on how much he rwted is available as far as I know. Only guesses and estimates, since Jagex never released a report for how much gp was stolen. The only one I know is that one dude that lost 45b and got it back from Jagex , this guy who lost 30b, and this reddit post that claims he stole atleast some 300b. And there are more reddit posts regarding it from that time period. Some of those posts show billions of gp returned to the players, and valuable items too such as t-bows 3rd age items etc... But its damn possible he rwted around 100k usd dollars worth of osrs coins which in itself shows how ridiculously much the rwt market is worth.

Granted, he can no longer work in the IT department with his real name because of this little stunt he pulled but he probably made a fuckload of money from this and if he is even remotely intelligent he probably invested it into the stock market. Reminds me a little of Mod Reach who rwted too and bought a fucking car if im not wrong lmao.

Honestly I think the OP is in need of an update, there have been so much funny shit happening in OSRS, like I cant believe anyone here have not posted these legendary clips of a streamer showing her ass and tits for GP back in like 2014

Keywords are "have been." I will admit that I haven't been watching out for OSRS sperging as much as I used to, but I can't think of anything really notable funny that happened recently.

The thing about OSRS is that most of the shit happening feel tangential to the game. And when it does, only the people who play it a lot can understand the context of it all. It's not really something you can put in the front page unless it's literally like the Pride event that got players to dress like Islamic people and protest against gays in Falador.

As a sidenote, I'd almost recommend anyone willing to try OSRS to avoid Reddit and Discord altogether, it will only ruin the experience, unless it is to meet players to do shit with.

New skill cumming. How y'all feel? The draconian voting system seems to be out
I don't mind as long as it is fun, leave the balancing and complaints to the Reddit trannies, usually works itself out after a while.

I haven't played RuneScape for years now, but I still lightly follow some of the news/drama with the game. I wish it was a little easier to tell some of these stories about stuff that's happened in the game to people who never played, but you'd have to spend an ungodly amount of time explaining the background before you could even begin to tell the stories themselves.

I like the idea of having more "historical" posts in here like the one KPO12-43 Again made on Dovydas. Talking about famous events or glitches in the game. Some of the various controversies that have occurred over the years. Players who have been involved in drama or exhibited cowish behavior in some way (there are a lot of these). Of course the problem is not many people would care. Only active players, or weirdos such as myself who still keep an eye on the game after quitting years ago.

Speaking of historical Runescape related lulzy moments, I recently came across the infamous Sparc Mac pull up video again. Not sure how many people remember this.

I've never been a big follower of Sparc Mac, but circa 2008 he was a chronically online turbo-autist. He was notable for constantly begging anyone who would listen to him for Runescape gp that he would then go on to blow at the duel arena. He also could not handle people making fun of him, hence the video of him doing pull ups to somehow prove that he's not just a Runescape nerd (he was is).

Speaking honestly though, we all did cringy shit in high school so this video isn't really anything else than a relic of times gone by.

Also of note, this video is so old that even the edits done by the re-uploader aged poorly.

For posterity:

I used to play OSRS but having tried other MMO's I just don't ge the appeal anymore, I know it's AFK but there is basically no real content, sure you can do quests or skill but it all boils down to the same thing skip everything, click on a tree wait ten seconds and then do it again.

Shit the FF14 FREE TRIAL has more content than the members version of OSRS I really have no idea how the hell it's still turning a profit.

The best way I can describe the appeal of OSRS is nostalgia plus the feeling of beating a game you could never finish as a kid - except there's no real way to "beat" OSRS. Sure, there might be a lot of MMO's that have more stuff to do than OSRS, but the depth isn't really there in those other games IMO. There are plenty of achievements and things to do for account progression buried under the surface. OSRS also has the no MTX thing going for it as well, which is honestly what kept me around for so long. The game feels "fair" despite the people buying gp because the skills take as long to train as they do.

Some of the OSRS quests like Song of the Elves and A Kingdom Divided have interesting storylines and are generally well-written despite being mostly text-based.

I get that the whole point-and-click thing + mid 2000's browser game graphics isn't for everyone. If you haven't played Runescape as I child I honestly have no idea what the appeal of the game would be to you.

RS is a skilling game. There are not many good skilling games I can think of.

Also, there is no wrong way to play RS.

You can make obligatory challenges like min maxing or like guys who play locked tiles. You can go for full max levels, quest cape, infinity robes, bossing, games, lore, PKing etc. There's literally hundreds of thousands of hours of content without even coming up with weird self-challenges that is still being added upon to this very day. I have admittedly given modern people who had never played aids (gotten them into rs) because it's still extremely different from what any other MMO has to offer especially in an era where every mmo got turned into a WoW clone and is largely still that way. People who are new players with 0 nostalgia who experience it without bias are still are having fun. The people who make videos on YouTube also attract attention like there's some that are notably funny or amusing even if you don't play rs. This creates intrigue and makes people try it out.
