Overwatch

The funniest part about this all is that it means Blizzard has had an internal team go through and rank all of the races in a quantitive scale from 1 to 10 (with 1 being the worst and 10 being the best for their purposes here).

I want to see them release those rankings. Do it you fucking cowards. Give us the race tier list. I want to see the shitstorm that will happen.

I feel like this must be the peak of Corporate Woke Behavior: an algorithmic method of quantifying "diversity". This tool would be the end-all of petty online arguments, because now we can objectively quantify how "diverse" something is by using this scale.

Of course, even this system would never be enough for the implacable Woke Mob. They would complain about not scoring "high enough" in certain categories, even if my straight, white, hetero, paraplegic character from a poor socio-economic background was worth the same amount of "diverse points" as a queer black troon.

It will never be enough for these virtue vultures, but I'm hoping that now that the "nuts-and-bolts" of their operation have been laid bare, more people will be repulsed by this utterly toxic worldview. Where characters are made in a laboratory by maxing out their stats like IV-training Pokemon, instead of by a visionary with a story to tell.

And this why you never cater to these types of people. Overwatch is one of the most diverse games I know and people still screech that it isn't diverse enough. Look at the meltdowns people were having when Sigma was released cause he's a white man

I have many posts there that further elaborate on this outrageous endeavor and how it came to be.

In particular, there was a 2017 GDC presentation about this thing by a couple of its creators, as well as a short summary paper by the MIT contributors.

This was not created by Blizzard directly, but rather by King, a different Activision subsidiary best known for Candy Crush. It was originally stated to be tested on Call of Duty: Vanguard and Overwatch 2 with positive feedback from those teams, but to what extent it's seriously being used as a development tool is unclear, especially now that Activision-Blizzard is in damage control mode over this. Furthermore, it is explicitly state that this endeavor started in roughly 2016 to appease Anita Sarkeesian.

Since people here were wondering, this is what the 0-score "norm" is, stated to be based on either "action games developed in the Western world" or "first-person shooters". Characters are apparently presumed to be the norm unless the contrary is made explicit, especially when it comes to sexual orientation.

I put a few thousand hours into the original overwatch and got to 3400sr tank main I've only just started looking into overwatch 2 and changing 6v6 to 5v5 is so fucking retarded how are you supposed to block damage and tank for your team if you're playing Roadhog, Winston, dva or god forbid Hammond? oh wait you cant because those characters were built around having another tank there to protect your team while you're on the frontlines harrasing them with your massive health pool. The Zarya change is fucking stupid her mechanics were literally perfect keep her bubbles on single use different cool downs. Holy fucking shit I hate Blizzard so much have the retard diversity hires even played a competitive game let alone understand the concepts of the game they're working on? I haven't played overwatch in years and I'm still mad at the internet

If you saw the first gameplay trailer they did you'll see their diversity hires were so fucking retarded they were playing DPS healers with Zen attacking the tanks on both teams and going away from the damn payload, and they were attacking the enemies while the Zarya bubbles were still active.

You're spot on that they don't even know what game they're working on.

Lmfao I thought it was bad with the old Overwatch team being mostly silver and bronze players but Jesus Christ. Sperging over video game rank is gay but they're pushing Overwatch as a competitive game if your Devs are dogshit at the game mechanically your competitive game is fucked.

Also the rein charge cancel is stupid his charge is a high risk high reward it 1 shotted dps and countered the enemy rein but over extended you and got your team wiped punishing bad charges but now you can cancel it retard reins no longer get punished for being stupid
