Overwatch

When did the Overwatch fandom started sperging about representation in the game?
I think the cancer happened when they talked about the game being "inclusive."
Also, Overwatch had a global-like setting, so consoomers would expect more globohomo crap.
In addition, they added more waman to the roster, which attracted more SJWs.

I remember an SJW student president of a California university was playing this during a student-sponsored gaming event when Overwatch was about to come out on that year (Blizzard was one of the sponsors of this event IIRC).

Yeah but they never did anything with it because they were too terrified to waste story on OW1 when OW2 was in the pipeline. Then that never happened because talent runs away from Blizzard like niggers from cops, and now it is happening, but nobody cares and they killed Mercy's VA and
Soldier 76 were revealed to be gay.
What? For fuck's sake. This is Iceman all over again. Pick a character nobody cares about, make him gay anyway, both sides are annoyed. If they had any balls they'd have done it to McCree. Coal-burning Cassidy, changed his name for the gay BBC videos.

Are you referring to the original Mercy's actor in the beta, Lucie Pohl, or the Brazilian voice actor?
From what I recall, the Brazilian voice actor was killed.
Lucie's still alive though, but I'm not sure if you're referring to the change between the beta and retail.

And there was no story for OW1 anyways. OW1 was just a corpse from their dead unreleased MMO, Titan.

I have no idea why people keep repeating the idea that "pro play balancing" killed OW. If OW was actually balanced around the pro play experience, then goats and double shield would've been patched out in a month max instead of being allow to dominate the pro meta for a year+ each.

it gets worse if you believe the theory they only did it after they got shit for some hongkong thing when it was the big thing years back.

But they all pretty much tried to be the next 'Overwatch Killer' I guess and tried to steal Overwatch's audience to follow a trend.

They were distinct, but pretty much everyone settled for a hero shooter/MOBA at that time and didn't switch, so nobody ended up playing those games.
which was my point, people didn't settle on a game based on quality, gameplay or genre, but popularity and marketing.
GAAS also wasn't the reason they were failing.

bungie and destiny broke away from actiblizz and they are failing even harder
failing by still pulling over an estimated million people per month across all platforms? and if you don't wanna go with estimates, over a million have pre-ordered the latest expansion even after all the shitty stunts. sure, those are not fortnite numbers, but then compare it to stuff like halo. bunghole also just got bought by sony, they'll be shitting out games for a long while...

and there are still enough suckers going back to OW2 when it ever comes out, even if it's just a glorified paid update (there's a rumor floating around PVE will be canned or postponed), can't wait for people to pay 40 bucks for new outfits and smaller teams.

Nope. It doesn't. If you release your game-as-a-service to steal from the audience of a currently successful game at the peak of its success, might as well take that money and spend it in a casino.

And they weren't that good to warrant leaving OW to play them. Most of them just had a different gimmick or two.

Nobody cares about Destiny.

almost like GAAS is a factor, but not the sole reason, who would've guessed. but then you think a different genre is a gimmick and people would "leave" a game that wasn't even released at that point....

only the million people who preordered the latest expansion.

You talking specifically Battleborn?

That released as a MOBA, at the time when MOBA genre was dominated by only two games and everyone that didn't play those games was sick and tired of MOBAs?

Not very politically correct of them to have a Brazilian voicing a Swiss bitch.

The reason they specifically weren't patched out was so there wouldn't be any major changes during the Overwatch League Official Season. Most changes (where possible) are delayed to not upset any of the professional/league matches currently in progress.

GOAT was allowed in unranked for the entire duration of OW, but as soon as it went into Ranked it was nerfed (via role lock) at the first possible chance. It was nerfed so hard that role lock was implemented into the causal modes as well.

Blizzard waited until the start of the 2019 season to fix the 2018 meta, and so on.

I honestly don't think its a problem of who they were trying to balance the game for, more of they were fucking shit at both identifying core issues with the game, and fixing them in any sort of meaningful way.

They also didn't want to listen to any community input at all when it came to telling them what was wrong with their game.

Disregarding the fact that there were numerous attempts to patch out goats throughout the entire OWL season (that all failed because blizzard refused to touch AOE sustain or the get-out-of-jail-free cards that made the meta supports unpunishable by non-goats comps for mispositioning), 2/2/2 and Sigma were literally released a month away from the 2019 OWL finals. I'm not sure that having such massive changes that fundamentally shifts how the entire game is played a whole month before the single most important tournament in the league is keeping the league's interests in mind. It certainly isn't good for competitive integrity either.

In expected Blizzard fashion, they're using the PVP beta as an excuse to not make new content for Archives, Anniversary and Summer events.

Remixed Legendary skins means regurgitating previously released Legendary skins but recolored. Aside from that, they're just enabling the different event lootboxes to come out like in Anniversary.

This is so frustratingly lazy I lack the words to express my anger.

Overwatch has been in maintenance mode for at least the last two years. To be so lazy as to not even flip the switch for the regular events blows my mind.

Loot crate revenue must be in the shitter if they're not even willing to make 24 new skins a year for events. So I guess the last original OW skin is the $10 OWL Sombra thing they just had.

How sad.
